Ghostlystar had just finished coming back from a southside patrol. He placed the massive amounts of prey that his team had caught in the fresh-kill pile and then paused when he saw Patriotcross, Flaxfeather, and Birdfeather entering camp. The massive tom Patriotcross was carrying a black form on his back. Ghostlystar's smile turned into a frown. "What is th'meanin' o'this?" he demanded, padding over to them. His eyes widened. "Mysterycurse?"
"Sir, Birdfeather, Flaxfeather, and I were patrolling and hunting when we came across this," Patriotcross said authoratively, gesturing to the black corpse. "A female rogue dropped him off, and after a confrontation, she made her escape and we came here." He turned to Flaxfeather and Birdfeather. "Cloudedsky and Amberpaw aren't here but I know there are some cobwebs for you to access."
"Patriotcross, sit him down here," Ghostlystar ordered, pointing to the front of the Gnarled Root where the bodies of Swanflight, Stormprowler, and Miserycalling lay in moss, pine, and fern fronds as they awaited their ceremony. He kept his emotions, determined to save face in front of his Clan before he looked like a disgrace in the history books. He turned to Flaxfeather and Birdfeather. "Are ya doin' okay?"

Birdfeather was shocked out of her mind. She looked to Ghostlystar and was clearly trembling. 'I'm fine.' She mewed to her leader. All of a sudden, a lightheadedness feeling crashed over her and she fell down. Down she went, smacking a paw off of a rock. She was scared. She had no idea what was going on. She cried out as she hit the ground. She had lost some blood from the fight with the Tribe, then more after the fight with the rogue. She had not eaten very much either. As she hit the ground, it was like something woke her up. She tried to get up, at last getting into a slouched sitting position. She faced Ghostlystar again.[/sup]

flaxfeather i'll take the shot for you i'll be the shield for you needless to say
i'll stand in your way Flaxfeather padded into the camp, head down. His fluffy ginger tabby pelt bore wounds from the battle with the Tribe, but now fresher slashes ripped his pelt and skin. His sides no longer heaved, but rage and grief fought in his green eyes. The young warrior approached Ghostlystar hesitantly. He had no idea how Ghostlystar would react to the news that his son was dead. The ginger tabby warrior stood beside Birdfeather, their pelts brushing slightly. He drew comfort from his aunt's warm, familiar scent. Flaxfeather gave a curt nod at Ghostlystar's question. He didn't need to worry about them. Mysterycurse was dead for StarClan's sake.
But it seemed he was wrong. Flaxfeather felt Birdfeather's weight lean on his side, and took an instinctive step sideways. He then pressed his nose to her cheek. "Birdfeather? Are you okay?" He sounded severely worried. He looked relieved, but still worried, when Birdfeather dragged herself upright. It occured to Flaxfeather that his kin probably eaten after the battle, before leaving the camp on patrol. The tom trotted hurriedly to the fresh kill pile, grabbed a vole, and carried it back to Birdfeather. He dropped it at her paws, before looking at Ghostlystar, eyes anguished. "I'm sorry, Ghostlystar."[/blockquote]

mistyvale.Mistyvale padded into camp after hunting for a while by herself. She had taken the time alone to gather her thoughts, which had been all over the place after the battle. Her sister, Mousewind, was still in the medicine cat den, and Hazelfrost had only just been told to leave today. She was thinking about Pecankit, her lost sibling whom she had never met and of her mother, who had so much to worry about but seemed to take it all in her stride. Then she stepped into camp and watched the scene in front of her; Mysterycurse's motionless body, her brother Flaxfeather, and her Clan leader all stationed in the clearing. She padded quickly to her brother after dropping her kill on the fresh kill pile. "Flaxfeather, what happened?" she asked, motioning with her tail at the scene in front of them.

Mousewind She could hear, she knew that. She must be awake, if she could hear. But voices had been there for a long time, some calm and some angry, constantly battling it out in her head. Though she didnt know it, it had been the Tribe and StarClan fighting for her soul. But she had defied both and lived. And now she was awake.
Mousewinds eyes opened blearily. She twitched her ears, to rid herself of the voices and winced as a sharp pain shot through her left one. Her left eye seemed sore at the tip and her nose and mouth were agony. She placed a front paw of her left ear, following the scar down her face, tracing it with the paw. All down her face, right through her nose, her mouth. How horrendous she must look. Pulling herself to her feet, she struggled outside. The bright light confused her, the sights and smells made her scared. Her eyes locked on Mistyvale, she thought it was Hazelfrost. Stumbling over to her sister she reached her and wept. "How horrible is it?" she whispered, wincing as the scar split opened over her maw as she spoke, filling her mouth with her own blood. [/sub]

mistyvale.Mistyvale whipped around as she heard a voice, and for a second her face was jumbled in a kind of half horror, half sadness expression. She rearranged her features to what she hoped was a neutral expression and touched Mousewind gently on the shoulder. "Mousewind, you shouldn't have come out of the medicine cat den. Cloudedsky's gone to the moonshard with Amberpaw and now I'll have to go find something to put on your wounds." she said, hoping she had discreetly skirted the question Mousewind had asked. hazelfrost. The pretty, willowy frame of Hazelfrost glided out of the den, her tabby frame still covered in various herbs that Cloudedsky had put on her wounds. She saw her brother, two sisters and an unmoving body that looked like Mysterycurse. She glided over to the scene and touched the unruined side of Mousewind's muzzle with her nose. "Mousewind? What are you doing out of the medicine cat den?" she asked, looking at the fresh blood trickling down her face. She turned to Mistyvale who had a faint look of horror on her face again. Hazelfrost narrowed her eyes at her sister and nudged her sharply with her tail, motioning with her eyes to be nice. Hazelfrost turned back to Mousewind. "Come on, lets go back to the medicine den and get you cleaned up." she said and started guiding Mousewind with her tail.

[/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote] Ghostlystar "M'son is dead," Ghostlystar said, making everyone stop in their tracks. The black-pelted leader stared down at Mysterycurse's lifeless body and sighed solemnly. He kept his composure and swallowed a lump in his throat. "Killed by a rogue." He sighed again and flicked his tail, refusing to cry. He stretched, examining his claws for a moment. He lifted his head and let his tail touch Flaxfeather's paws. "Don't worry, Flaxfeather. You were very brave t'confront th'rogue." A thin smile braced itself on Ghostlystar's maw.[/sub] And the only sound that will break the air is the warrior's bitter cry

Mousewind Her eyes filled with tears as she looked upon her sisters face. Mistyvale, not Hazelfrost. The sight must be horrific if her own sister couldnt bear to look at her without grimacing. Mousewind let a tear roll down her cheek, as Mistyvale wouldnt even answer her. Her head turned sharply as she hadnt noticed Hazelfrost appear, her eyes full of fear. She watched her sibling, her best friend try to discreetly disguise the fact that she was having to tell Mistyvale not to stare. Making a strange sound lile a strangled gulping noise she followed her sister dejectedly back to the medicine cat den. "I look horrendous dont Hazelfrost" she whispered, the tears flowing freely now. "My own sister cant even look at me. Nobody will want me. I'' be an outcast forever, who wants to be friends with such an ugly creature! she sobbed, her tail lashing. She slumped to the ground, asking herself numerous questions. Why her? Why was it always her?
"Why couldnt i have just died?" [/sub]

hazelfrost. Hazelfrost glared at Mistyvale, then turned her grey gaze back to Mousewind. "Mousewind, you don't look horrendous. Far from it. You look like a cat that's done their Clan proud and other cats shouldn't care what you look like." she said, glaring again at Mistyvale. "You're beautiful, Mousewind. And don't let anyone tell you otherwise." she said, steering Mousewind more forcefully towards the medicine den. mistyvale. Mistyvale fell silent as Hazelfrost appeared, and tried to keep her expression neutral but she couldn't. She just couldn't, when the face she had grown up with was scarred so deeply. It scared her, if she was honest. She was trying so hard not to let it show, and she was ashamed when Hazelfrost kept glaring at her. When Mousewind uttered the last sentence, that she wanted to die, Mistyvale's head shot up. "Never say that Mousewind. So many cats have died, how could you even think about wanting to join them?" she hung her head as she got yet another glare from Hazelfrost, and sat there looking at her paws until Hazelfrost started to steer Mousewind towards the medicine den. Seven kings will ride on the wind up towards the mountains high
[/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote] Ghostlystar He knew that he had to make an announcement now about this issue. Many things had been happening to the Clan. He needed to get everything out now. "All cats old enough t'catch th'ar own prey join me under th'Gnarled Root!" he roared, leaping to the reaches of the large twisted roots that were the roof of his den. When he Clan gathered, he lifted up his maw to them. "M'Clan! Th'first battle against th'Tribe is over. BrightClan, I commend ya for y'ar courage and strength when ya followed me int'Jay's Hollow t'save th'others. However, some o'our perished. A vigil will be held for Swanflight, Miserycallin', and Stormprowler." He nodded to the corpses beneath him before going to the final one.
"Flaxfeather, Patriotcross, and Birdfeather came across a rogue in th'territory earlier today. That rogue had slain Mysterycurse, a brave and honorable warrior. We honor him t'night as well."
Ghostlystar cleared his throat for it seemed as if he was about to cry that very instant. "Some apprentices are in need o'some modifications. Mousewind, I want you to focus on your recovery. Therefore, I am designating Pearlsheen as Hopepaw's mentor until you return." He nodded to the injured she-cat before turning to the others.
"Eastfrost, y'ar ready for y'ar first apprentice so I am naming Ivypaw as such. I know that you will teach him your loyalty and diligence.
"Summermeadow, y'ar ready for an apprentice o'y'ar own. Lycorispaw will be y'ar apprentice, and I wish for y'ar patience and tenacity t'go on t'Lycorispaw t'make her a warrior.
"Berryleaf, I know you t'be a loyal warrior so I am deemin' Locustpaw as y'ar new apprentice. Please teach him all th'skills he needs t'be a warrior o'BrightClan.
"Runespell, y'ar one o'my most experienced warriors and I have no doubt that ya can teach Leafpaw t'be the best she can be. I look forward t'y'ar trainin'.
"Turtlepaw, I have noticed that ya wish t'be deputy so I am givin' ya a mentor that was taught by me. Gingerpelt, ya will mentor Turtlepaw until he becomes a warrior.
"Slatesky, y'ar known for y'ar gentleness and patience with others and y'ar ready for an apprentice. You will mentor young Elmpaw.
"Hauntin'dream, y'ar ready for an apprentice o'y'ar own. Quailpaw will be y'ar apprentice. Please pass on y'ar honor and persistence t'this she-cat so that she will be an honorable warrior o'BrightClan.
"Alderpaw, the mentor I had chosen for ya is currently recoverin' in CloudClan but is scheduled t'come home shortly. Your mentor will be Lastfallin', deputy o'BrightClan.
"Heronsong, it is time ya had an apprentice so I am givin' Ocelotpaw t'ya so ya may train him in the ways o'th'Warrior.
"Birdfeather, y'ar loyalty has been proven time and time again. I am givin' Thistlepaw t'ya so that ya may train her in the ways o'th'Warrior.
"I had been a while since I last mentored someone, and so I call Longpaw forward t'be m'apprentice. I will do my best t'teach ya as StarClan wills it."
He touched noses with his new apprentice and then gestured for everyone to chant. And the only sound that will break the air is the warrior's bitter cry

*I warn you, I'm deeper than my looks.
Pearlsheen had been napping. She had fought in the battle, but not that much. She had mostly been chased around the shallow dip called Jay's Hollow. She now had a small nick in her ear, with scratches to boot. She had already gotten the wounds looker at, so she was doing okay. All the running had made her sleepy, so she had sleept. But Ghostlystar's call awoke her now, so she made her way out of the den. The first thing she saw was Patriotcross. She ran forward to meet him. Patriotcross! What happened?, She asked. Her eyes slid past him to the limp figure of Mysterycurse. Oh no! How did this happen? Her violet eyes hardened. These poor young warriors, killed off so young. Pearlsheen wasn't old herself, but she wasn't young either.

flaxfeather Flaxfeather padded to Mistyvale as his littermate slipped from her den. He pressed his fluffy ginger pelt against her pale side. "Mysterycalling is dead," he mewed solemnly. The young tom narrowed his eyes as Mousewind padded from the medicine den. "You shouldn't be out here, Mousewind," he mewed gently to his older sister. At her words he draped his tail over her slender back, his expression fierce. "You musn't think that, Mousewind," he mewed. "We love you whatever you look like. You're still our Mousewind." The tom turned back to Ghostlystar, eyes distressed, as the black tom called a clan meeting. He swallowed hard. This day was just getting worse and worse. runespell The slim brown tabby shape of Runespell slid from the warriors' den, his long, striped tail held high so that the white tip was obvious in the sunlight. The warrior brushed around his family, Flaxfeather, Mistyvale, Mousewind, Hazelfrost and Birdfeather. His eyes filled with sadness at Mousewind's injuries, but only for a heartbeat. Cold fury flooded him. They would have revenge on the Tribe. He would especially, for their had killed his father and disfigured his daughter. Runespell leant forward to gently lick Mousewind's scarred muzzle. "I still love you," he murmured to the she-cat, eyes softening. The tom looked up at Ghostlystar in surprise as the ink-coloured tom named him a mentor. The tom had not expected this. He had shown bad judgement in dealing with Hollowstripe, and... Now Leafpaw was there, his new apprentice. Runespell leant forward to touch noses with the young she-cat. "I hope I'll be a good enough mentor to you," he mewed, smiling kindly. quailpaw The sleek, chocolate-coloured tabby pelt of Qyailpaw flashed in the bright sunlight as she bounced from the warriors' den. She shook a scrap of moss from behind her ear, beaming, her eyes glittering. Her face fell as she spotted Mysterycalling. "Oh no!" she mewed, turning to look at Locustpaw and Lycorispaw, who she had been cleaning out the warriors' den with. "Look, look! Mysterycalling's dead!" She flattened her ears, her eyes briefly clouding with sadness. Things could only get worse from here. Who would be next? She glanced at her friend and her sister. One of them? She prayed that it wouldn't be. It could even be her. Well, she'd prefer it to be her than Lycorispaw or Locustpaw. The she-cat turned her head to look and pale warrior that was Hauntingdream; her new mentor. She trotted to her, touching noses with the she-cat. "Hello," she mewed shyly.

mythkit A sleek head popped out of the nursery behind Northrain. Mythkit's narrow, dark blue eyes surveyed the scene. A cat was dead. Wow, cool. The she-cat squeezed out of the narrow space, shaking herself and giving her already-shimmering coat a quick lick. The she-cat watched the cats clustered around Mysterycurse's body intently, her face filled with interest. Mythkit looked up at Northrain, her face mildly annoyed, as she assured them back to the nursery.
Undeterred, the wily she-cat padded to the back wall of the nursery. She managed to squeeze beneath the thorn wall, the thorns raking through her sleek fur without touching her skin. Mythkit slunk around the side, a smile on her mouth. The she-cat then sat down near Lunarmyth, with a ringside seat. jaspersmoke. The large, solid shape of Jaspersmoke stood in the crowd. His face was grave as he looked down at the body of Mysterycurse. He had been a kit with the tom. It was hard remembering those old days when he was now looking down at the tom's body. Jaspersmoke heard a meow of distress, and turned. He padded back to see Northrain, their three young kits padding behind her. Jaspersmoke stood in front of Requiemkit, Mythkit and Lynxkit, so as to block the scene from their young eyes.
Jaspersmoke touched noses with Northrain. He wasn't the type to smother her in sympathy. He knew she wouldn't appreciate it. The warrior stood beside his mate, their pelts brushing slightly. Jaspersmoke gave a tiny nod as Northrain sent the kits back to the nursery; they didn't need to see this. "Horrible, isn't it?" he mewed, voice soft.

Patriotcross ;; Live life the master of my destiny See no other way to live Patriotcross smiled slightly when Pearlsheen came over to greet him, and the tom laughed out loud. "Just a rogue, hun. Nothing I won't get rid of in the future. She was a witty wench, that one." The large tom shifted his weight, running a tongue through his outrageous hair even though he knew it was only going to make it stand at attention all the more. He looked at the she-cat and then over her. "Your niece and her kits are out. Lookit 'em." He smiled genuinely; one of his weaknesses was children. RewriteÑøЯ†H®àîñThe meaningless imagination The driving force that creates you Give it your whole body and soulNorthrain sighed slightly. "Well, Mysterycurse was a good warrior. I hope StarClan receives him well." Like Jaspersmoke, she had grown up with Ghostlystar's children as denmates so when something like this happened, it was as if Eastfrost had died or something. She moved her large paw over Jaspersmoke's and smiled. "I can't dwell on this forever. The kits'll start to cry if they see me doing it." She laughed but it seemed hollow and forced. Northrain flicked her tail to her mate. You know, morning is coming.

Eastfrost
A silver tabby joined among the clearing listening to the clan meeting, he listened more carefully when he noticed his name being called for an apprentice. He made his way to Ivypaw and touched noses with the young tom. "I'll be the best mentor I can be" A smile spread on Eastfrost's tabby face, his sapphire blue irises glowed with confidence. He then felt a soft feeling, he didn't know how but he could sense Gracewhisper somewhere. Eastfrost looked around the clearing then found out why he sensed Gracewhisper, Mysterycurse was dead and many were weeping. The silver tabby's sapphire blue irises went to the medicine cats den when the corner of his iris was Mousewind, then came his mate. He trotted over to her and licked her ears in comfort, "He's in Starclan now, don't worry. I will always be at your side know matter how much pain the clan goes through...... I love you" Eastfrost sat closely to Gracewhisper, his silver tabby fur brushing her beautiful fur.

quailpaw Quailpaw smiled happily to herself. Hauntingdream! She was a great warrior. Quailpaw wanted to be just as respected as her when she grew up. She knew it was unlikely, but it didn't hurt to dream, did it? The dark brown tabby she-cat flicked up her ears as Alderpaw stalked past on his way to the apprentices' den. She wondered whether he was alright. Quailpaw trotted after him and poked her head through the ferns of the den. "Alderpaw, are you okay?" she asked anxiously. The she-cat padded into the den and sat beside him, her tail wrapping neatly around her small white paws. [/blockquote] mythkit Mythkit looked at Requiemkit silently, eyes narrowed. She didn't understand her sister. She was weird. The black she-cat stood, and shook herself. Her sleek black and white coat did not ruffle at all, remaining perfectly flat and shiny. The she-cat slunk closer to Mysterycurse's body, her blue eyes searching. She didn't want to be left out of the action. She wondered what had killed the warrior. She wanted to know, so that she could imagine fighting it herself. She would never let a fox or badger kill her, it was a rubbish way to die. Mythkit squeezed in so that she was pressed uncomfortably against Patriotcross's flank. It was irritating, but at least she could see the body from here. It looked decidedly mangled. "Cool," she breathed.

Summermeadow's sorrow filled heart thumped at the news of the death of her clan mate, Mysterycurse. She didn't have much knowledge on this cat, but she felt sorry for those who knew him well. Her soft paw steps floated over to the clearing she looked for a certain face. The face of a tortoiseshell like herself, Lycorispaw. This small female, was her newly appointed apprentice. Doubt flashed through Summermeadow's mind. How would she be able to teach this cat the ways of the warrior. From what she had seen and heard, Lycorispaw was aloof and not the smartest kit. Summermeadow listened to the chorus of birds chriping and the leaves swaying in the trees. With that breeze a whisper came, Teach her all you know. Don't lose hope.. She pushed away the negative thoughts, this would be a good experience to try and keep her patience. Maybe with this she could find a new friend and help Lycorispaw become a strong and intelligent warrior! The female tortoiseshell spotted her apprentice and strolled over. Her icey black nose touched Lycorispaw's. "Hello Lycorispaw, I am Summermeadow." She smiled, "I will teach you all that I know to help you become a warrior of Brightclan."

quailpaw Quailpaw looked at her brother, the anxiety not fading from her eyes. She sighed. She hadn't expected him to co-operate. "I just wanted to know if you were alright," she mewed, lifting her shoulders in a shrug. "I guess that's a yes. I'll go." The dark brown tabby she-cat slunk from the apprentices' den, her head down. She trotted back over to Hauntingdream, who looked faintly disappointed. "Sorry, what were you saying?" she mewed vaguely. "I was just... Alderpaw, he... Well, sorry." Quailpaw scuffled the mud with her white forepaws, her eyes down. mythkit Mythkit froze as she heard a stern voice drifting towards her. The kitten rolled her pretty indigo eyes expressively. Why did her mother always have to ruin her fun? The sleek black and white she-cat squeezed back out of the crowds. There was no point pretending she hadn't heard. Northrain would just come and pluck her out of the group like a mouse from the fresh kill pile. Mythkit padded back to her mother's flank. As she passed the big blue-grey she-cat, she raised her eyes in irritation to meet Northrain's. Mythkit then sat beside Northrain. Lynxkit hadn't been told to return to the nursery, so why should she? Mythkit tucked her forepaws under her chest and rested her chin on the grass, her tail curled around her slim body.

__ No sweat, I'm late too. xD
"I don't know..." Lycorispaw mumbled, suddenly shy. The tortoiseshell was like a miniature version of her mentor, only showing in her green eyes was the light of doubt, not determination. "I'm not very good at hunting or fighting or even patrolling..." Lycorispaw scuffled her paws in the dirt, looking away and glancing towards Alderpaw. She was still slightly shocked at seeing Mysterycurse's dead body, carried back by the patrol. A dead cat... on her shoulders... Lycorispaw squirmed at the thought before she turned back to Summermeadow, smiling a little.
Grainpelt dipped his head solemnly as he heard news of Mysterycurse's death, and he turned his eyes on the nursery where his mate was probably sleeping. How would Frostedwing take this? Mysterycurse had been her brother... Grainpelt wasn't sure if he should be the one to tell her this, but he was ready to take a chance. The tom began towards the nursery but just as he did he caught Mousewind's quiet, heartbroken voice, soon to be comforted by the cats around her - Hazelfrost, Mistyvale, Runespell and Flaxfeather. "I agree," Grainpelt meowed, smiling as he stepped foreward. "You're still the same Mousewind, and nothing can change that." With all of this going on, the battle and the fact that the birth of his kits was not far off, he had forgotten about Lastfalling - but as Ghostlystar gave the ceremonies, he remembered his friend who was still recovering far away in the CloudClan camp. He supposed it was his job to organize new patrols; even though Ghostlystar was usually working hard Grainpelt realized that as a replacement deputy he had to start trying to help out more than he had been helping befotr. After wishing Mousewind goodbye Grainpelt sat down with his tail flickering back and forth. [/blockquote]
