through the monsoon [/blockquote] Locustpaw «« beyond the world to the end of time [/blockquote] Locustpaw awoke with a tiny mew. He had been asleep the entire time. The small apprentice wobbled to his small paws, meowing noisily as he wondered where everyone was. He heard a lot of the hustle and bustle outside but decided not to investigate it. It was much too warm in the apprentice's den to simply leave it in favor of some noisy outside. He shook himself and called out for his friends in his soft, dainty voice. "Lycorispaw? Ivypaw? Leafpaw? Anyone?" the Siamese meowed, wriggling his little tail. The gray tom fluffed himself out as he rolled over and back into bed, moss and straw collecting in his drab fur. He looked like a dustbunny, save for his intelligent blue eyes.

[i'm goin' home] [gonna load my shotgun] leafpaw! Her green eyes opened slowly, blinking a few times until the cat came into focus. The tortoiseshell she-cat stretched her large paws out infront of her, yawning in the act before slowly standing and facing Locustpaw. Her ears shot up and her rough voice came from her mouth "What`s going on, Locustpaw?" She asked as she padded towards her friend, nudging him with her nose and brushed off a few pieces that didn't belong on his pelt.

Locustpaw beamed, waggling his little tail. "Today's going to be a great day," he said softly, hopping around his bed as he tidied up his area so it didn't look like a tornadopaw had been through here. He mewed cheerily and turned to Leafpaw. "Do you want to go talk to the queens?" he asked. "Northrain had her kits a few hours ago so we can see them." His blue eyes twinkled as he stared outside the entrance to the den, his purplish-gray form being hit head-on by a beam of sunlight.

[i'm goin' home] [gonna load my shotgun] leafpaw! Leafpaw smiled at her friend, a small chuckle coming from her as she nodded her head. "I haven't been over there in a few days. I didn't even know that Northrain was pregnant" She mewed with a shrug as she started towards the den entrance, turning to look at Locustpaw before slipping out of the den.

Locustpaw giggled as he ran out to the fresh-kill to fetch some kill for the large queen. "Of course, silly," he said, padding after Leafpaw over to the nursery. He let out a greeting mew and waved a small paw at Northrain, who lifted up her head sleepily. "Oh, hello Leafpaw and Locustpaw," the queen meowed, her broom-like tail flopping up and down as she saw them enter the nursery. It settled over her nursing kits like a blanket.

She mewed with a grin. Leafpaw had always had a motherly side, a side rare cats saw because of her hard shell. She took a step back, not wanting to crowd the queen and her new kits. "It`s wonderful to see the Clan growing in such a beautiful way" She murmured, looking towards Locustpaw [/ul]

The young queen smiled as a tired 'thank you' and nuzzled her kits, licking the tops of their heads. They mewled, complaining blindly that they had been disturbed from their feeding. Northrain shook her head with a gentle laugh. "Well, this is Requiemkit," she said, nosing the rusty-brown she-kit. "And over here is Mythkit and Lynxkit." Her scarlet nose brushed against a black and white she-kit and sand-colored tomkit. They looked like someone had painted them for Easter.
Locustpaw sat down a piece of prey for Northrain, who gratefully ate it. The smaller apprentice looked up at Leafpaw after admiring the tiny kittens as compared to their broad-shouldered blue-gray mother. "What do you want to do next?"

Locustpaw chuckled as he followed Leafpaw out into the open air of BrightClan. He stretched his small body and waggled his dark-gray tail, grabbing some more prey for the elders before sprinting after the larger she-cat. The Siamese poked his head into the musty elder's den and wrinkled his nose. "We definately should clean this out," the tomcat said.
"Is that an insult, mister?" Lunarmyth asked grumpily, the once-pretty silver she-cat lifting up her brown eyes to the two apprentices. Ghostlystar's grandmother stretched her lengthy limbs, unsheathing her claws before retracting everything back under her belly and bed. The elder bent her ears back, feeling a bit ornery today.
"No, no, nothing like that, Lunarmyth," Locustpaw said sheepishly.

She mewed, flicking her tail across his nose before turning back to Lunarmyth. She pushed one of the mouses towards the elder before sitting down and curling her tail around her paws. "We were wondering if you had any stories you could tell us? We haven't gotten anything to attend to, and we've already did as we were asked" She mewed, a small grin on her face, her tail tip twitching. [/ul]

Locustpaw felt his paws go hot with embarrassment as he padded over to Leafpaw's other side. He looked up at the elder, eyes bright with antipation. He felt like a kit again, hearing stories.
Lunarmyth looked thoughtful and then nodded gruffly. "Sure, I suppose I could tell you a story," she said, laying her head down to eat the mouse before she got started. The elder swallowed her food and then turned to Leafpaw and Locustpaw. "Well, many moons ago, one of our warriors, Runespell, encountered a loner she-cat. She called herself Aurora, and she was followed by a gray kitten, named Ash. This she-cat was different than anything BrightClan had seen or heard of, claiming to have weird dream and to have rescued a BrightClan apprentice."
The she-cat shifted her weight before continuing. "Well, this cat turned to leave BrightClan but Runespell stopped her, wanting to know more about this apprentice. Aurora said his name was Sagepaw, and that he had been carried off by a bird of prey but had escaped. Runespell told Aurora to meet them at Jay's Hollow with Sagepaw, and she agreed before leaving.
"However, there was a badger cub there, with a thorn stuck in his paw. Aurora, to Runespell's surprise, took the thorn out and then rescued the cub, where it then followed her. That badger still lives in BrightClan territory today, the only cat-friendly badger in all of Black River," Lunarmyth meowed.

"Of course he does," Lunarmyth laughed out loud. "A badger's got to eat and find himself a mate, no? If you go ask Grainpelt about him, I'm sure he could tell you about the badger. He met Hollow back when he was a kit." The elder shifted her weight again, trying to find the comfortable position that she had lost earlier. "Well, legend has it that Wrenstar, the leader of BrightClan before Ghostlystar, found Hollow's mother in the Territories and killed her with a swift sweep of his mighty claws after she threatened some apprentices."
Locustpaw had eyes as round as the moon. "Really? That's so cool!" He turned to Leafpaw with a grin. "You think you could kill a badger with one hit like Wrenstar did?" The small gray tom bounced on his pads. One wouldn't think he was nearly a yearling warrior by the way he got so excited with Lunarmyth's stories.

She murmured before padding towards the den entrance and slipping out into the open. She let out a ragged sigh, her eyes flicking around the camp, her mind racing. A leader that could kill a badger with a swipe of his paw......her mind was becoming clouded with unwanted thoughts. Her eyes closed as she tried to close out the pictures until her mind became suddenly quiet. Her leaf-green eyes slowly opened and her ears flicked around. She glanced back into the elder's den, then turned and let out a breath of relief. She hadn't noticed that she was hodling her breath. [/ul]

Locustpaw blinked as Leafpaw excused herself and ran out of the elder's den. Was it something he had said? The gray tom bowed his head to Lunarmyth (who had mumbled something about "getting sleep anyway") and padded out slowly after his denmate. He blinked his blue eyes and circled her, sitting down in front of her. He pressed a small paw to her muzzle and mewed comfortingly. He tilted his head in concern, asking wordlessly if she was alright.

"It's okay," Locustpaw mewed kindly. "I'm sure Lunarmyth'll tell a story about a famous warrior or something next time we ask. I didn't know you didn't like badgers." He personally thought the story was cool. He wished he could've met this Wrenstar who killed a badger with one hit.
The lilac-pointed tomcat padded over to the fresh-kill pile and fetched Leafpaw a scrawny vole. "Here...," he said helpfully, smiling goofily at her. "We'll have mentors soon so don't worry. Your mentor'll help you fight badgers off." He pressed his nose against Leafpaw's.

__ Lycorispaw, Lunarmyth, Locustpaw, Leafpaw and... Grainpelt. xD
"Hi, Locustpaw, Leafpaw!" Lycorispaw's somewhat-cheery mew could be heard from across camp. She was obviously in one of her good moods today. Walking over, she tipped her head curiously at them. "What are you doing? ... Would you mind if I helped, maybe?" A weak smile crossed her face. Only a few sunrises ago, she had forgotten to clean out the moss in the elder's den before laying it down. That didn't work well, not at all. They might had come from the elder's den now - Lycorispaw was now partially glad that she hadn't woken up until just now, even though the BrightClan elders were usually good-tempered. They wouldn't be happy to see her, anyway. Not many cats seemed to be, ever.
Dropping a mouse on the fresh-kill pile - BrightClan could use as much prey as they could get right now - Grainpelt noticed the group of appentices nearby. He managed to catch the last part of Leafpaw's question and trotted over to them. "If you need something to do, you could go clean out the warrior's den. Violetwisp tore up some bedding last night, and she could use some more." Pausing, the golden tomcat added, "Or you could go out hunting, if you like." He nodded before turning towards the nursery to visit both Frostedwing and Northrain's new litter. [/blockquote]

Locustpaw smiled at Leafpaw and then at Lycorispaw as the she-cat neared them. "Hi!" he said brightly, hopping to his paws and butting heads with the she-cat. "We just gave the elders some prey, listening to a story, and we saw Northrain's kits." He looked up when he saw Grainpelt. His tail waved side to side as he listened to the older warrior. He had to ask him about the badger later. The tom nodded meekly when the warrior mentioned Violetwisp needing bedding. "How about we do that first and then we go out hunting?"

quailpaw i can feel the pressure it's taking over now we're better off
without you The small, delicate tabby shape that was Quailpaw slipped into the camp. The sleek young she-cat shook herself. A vole was clutched between her teeth. The apprentice laid her catch neatly on the ample fresh kill pile, her tail swinging high and her eyes bright and happy. Despite her usually wry personality, the sunny day could do nothing to bring down her spirits. Her happiness increased when she spotted Leafpaw, Locustpaw and Lycorispaw. The young she-cat pranced towards them, her ears prickled and muzzle smiling. "Hello Leafpaw!" she mewed, shutting her eyes briefly. "Hello Lycorispaw, Locustpaw!"
Quailpaw smiled at the three, then dipped her head hastily to Grainpelt. She picked up their words with her sharp ears. "I could help you, if you want," she mewed, her eyes sparkling. "With more of us we would get the job done quicker."[/blockquote]

Locustpaw mewed a 'yes, ma'am' to the natural leader of the apprentices, padding off. He ran into Quailpaw not far away and meowed enthusiastically. "Hello," he said kindly. When she spoke, he nodded brightly. "Sure! That would be awesome!" The lilac-pointed tom ran off to Violetwisp's bed in the warrior's den, coming back about two minutes later with the shredded mess cluttered in his mouth and hair. He dumped it and shook himself.

quailpaw i can feel the pressure it's taking over now we're better off
without you The slender dark brown tabby she-cat beamed at Lycorispaw, her eyes bright. "Great!" The young she-cat sat back on her haunches as the other apprentice padded into the warriors' den. She thumped the grass lightly with her snow-coloured tail tip whilst she waited for the tom to return. She rose again as he did, stretching up to stand on the tips of her slim paws. She looked curiously at the bedding, but said nothing. She had learnt early that it did not pay to poke your nose into other cats' business. She took a mouthful of the shredded bedding and padded out of the camp again.
Quailpaw's delicate paws made light sounds on the long, dark green grass. The sun beat warmth onto her back, reminding her of comforting tongues grooming her fur. The she-cat dumped the bedding in the usual place, before stretching herself and blinking rapidly. Despite the rank stench of the bedding-place, she could have fallen asleep here with the sun staring warmly down at her. Quailpaw returned to Lycorispaw, yawning. "Sorry," she mewed, flicking her ears dozily. "It's all this heat..."[/blockquote]

Lycorispaw smiled gently at Quailpaw - she obviously wanted to help. Shrugging, the tortoishell femme sat by her sister as Locustpaw returned with the wad of bedding. Curious, but much unlike her polite sister - she, unfortunately, had no insights on the sense of 'privacy' -, she inquired, "Why'd she tear that stuff up?" Quickly losing intrest in her question, she turned to look for Leafpaw. "... I'm bored..." she trailed off, knowing Quailpaw would probably scold her about now.
