Steamy breaths poured from his nostrils, wet and smelling of blood. It was thick, cloying, metallic. Hollowpaw knew the icy winds were practically shredding his lungs, but he couldn't stop running. The foxes would get him, no matter how long he screamed. He was too far from the camp for the warriors to hear him.
He knew he shouldn't have gone after her, Pecankit, daughter of Runespell and Leopardflight, but it hurt him to see them in pain day after day. His conscience had told him to go after her and he couldn't refuse it. It was too overpowering. It hurt to resist that mean voice in his head.
He suddenly crashed to the ground, having tripped over a root and landed in a mud puddle. This sent the black gray-bellied tom headfirst and then he flipped, rolling around for a moment before coming to his feet. His bright blue eyes rolled in panic. He heard the snarls dripping in venom. They were hungry, these foxes. Hollowpaw whimpered and retreated to the hollow oak. The yips increased in volume and then came the horrible noise, the scratching as they chased him and tried to claw at him through the gaps in the roots. He began to scream, for his mother, for his father, for anyone who could hear the loud meows of the leader's son.

ooc;;Alright.
bic;; A howling of Hollowpaw was sounded. Stormfeather could scent him, but as well was the scent of foxes. Hungry foxes. Come on! She cried, chasing after the scent. It soon brought er to a tree, and the scent of her son was clearer. Hollowpaw! She cried, racing towards his scent. But foxes outnumbered her. She knew she had to sneak out.
Quick as lightning, Gingerpaw raced after Stormfeather. She noticed the foxes and howled at them, turning the other way, away from mother and son and the patrol. Swirlstorm! Help me! She called to him. Hey mousedung foxbrains! Come on! You can't catch me! Soon the foxes followed her, leaving Stormfeather to catch see her son.
Stormfeather meowed breathlessly, Hollowpaw! and raced into the tree. My son! She purred fiercely, licking him gently enough though. What were you thinking? She demanded, fear making her angry.
ooc;; Lemme know if this is okay, if it isn't, I'll fix it. xDDD

((It's fine. The foxes'll come back though x33))
Hollowpaw sniffled, coming out to press against his mother. "I'm sorry. I'm sorry," he wailed, sensing her anger. He flinched and flattened his ears back. The mostly-black tom whimpered. "I just wanted to help Pecankit..."
Loud yips squealed out at Gingerpaw's distraction, but when they saw that she was just that, one of the foxes aimed a clawed swat at the apprentice while the other two charged after Stormfeather and her group. Hollowpaw let out an alarmed mew of "Mother!" just before the foxes slammed their muzzles against him, crushing Hollowpaw against the oak. The apprentice meowed and scratched frantically at the fox's muzzle locked onto his leg, causing it to let go of him with an angry hiss.

ooc;; -leshock- You was going to kill him!?!?!?
bic;; Stormfeather squealedi n rage as the foxes came back. She hissed and leaped on one of them, pulling it back away from her son. She clawed its ears and bit its neck while pummeling its side with her hind legs.
Gingerpaw didn't realize the fox caught up with her, and felt claws pierce her side deeply. She dropped onto the ground, blood oozing from her leg where the fox hit her. Swirlstorm! She cried, Help me!

((wow this will be my first post actually fighting. . . ever. . . sorry if its not that good...))
Swirlstorm raced after Gingerpaw, paw pounding on hard ground. He saw the fox advance on Gingerpaw. "Gingerpaw look out!" he yowled, but the fox had already caught up. A sudden rage boiled up inside him. He jumped on the foxes back, scratching and biting it before he jumped off. "Stupid, crowfood eating piece of foxdung!" he spat at the fox before jumping on it again. The fox threw him off, knocking the breath out of swirlstorm. He lay there winded, trying to catch his breath before the fox caught up to him. He got up and jumped out of the way, but he was two slow. The fox had gotten a hold of his back leg. Blood trickled out of the bite. He bit back the pain and lunged back at the fox, He grabbed its scruff in his mouth and held on, for fear of being thrown off again.
((... I'm not sure if its bad or good....))

ooc;; don't worry! wow! Good post!
bic;; Gingerpaw sighed with relief when Swirlstorm showed up. She licked her wound quickly, and leaped up. She swiped at the fox's face, swatting it with both paws. Don't worry Swirlstorm! She called to him. She clawed at its face once more, but a hefty paw was raised and smacked into her, sending her flying across the clearing, where she didn't move.

"Gingerpaw!" Swirlstorm yelled after the fox's paw sent her flying. He let go of the foxes scruff and started to run to her before he rememberd that he had to take care of the fox first. His moments hesitation let the fox have a cance to attack. He felt its claws rakeing down the side of his pelt. He cried out in pain as he turned to face the fox again. Blood welled up along the four long claw marks along his flank. He tried to remember fighting moves. Then he rememberd, The badger killer. This wasnt a badger, but it was worth a try. He lept as high as he could , above the fox. It tryied to nip at his hind paws but missed. He turned and bit it's hind leg and waited for the fox to turn toward him. As soon as it did he Bit down hard into the foxes neck. he had improvised the last part, but he prayed it would work the same. With it's dieing breaths the fox scratched his face with a well aimed blow. then it went limp and fell to the ground. Swirlstorms many wounds ached, and he couldnt move his hind leg. Slowly he limped over to gingerpaw. "Gingerpaw. . . come on, wake up. I thought you promised to be carefull," he whisperd as he lay down besides her. tears started mix with the blood on the ground. His vision became fuzzy. "Dont leave me alone. . . Dont let me be alone again," he panted before he passed out, his breathing hard.
((dont worry he wont die. . . he is like... well I cant decide if he is my main or if it's Falcon. . . well he just fainted... I got sad writing this . . . so emotional...))

ooc;; It's so sad! They are so close... xDDD
bic;; A simple breath. It spoke of a life that was yet to be over. Eyes blinked open and orange shone out. Gingerpaw blinked and looked at Swirlstorm. Help! She cried out, dragging herself over to him. Her hind leg was stiff, and she was too sore to stand. She rested her head near his injury on his leg, and began to lick it. She tasted blood and tears, and noticed his face was wet with blood and tears as well. She leaned in towards his face and licked it clean. She could feel his breath rustling her whiskers and her heart leapt with joy. I thought I told you to be careful. She whispered, still cleaning his face.

It came as a dull roar, husky like a man trying to clear his throat, before becoming more thunderous, almost like a badger's bark. A demon leapt from a viridian hell, black flames jumping from its pelt. The fiend launched past Gingerpaw and Swirlstorm, landing with a vicious snarl. Obsidian claws flashed into the air and came screaming down, ripping and tearing at the fur. It shrieked uncontrollably, unable to break its step as hundreds, thousands, no millions of tiny pins repeatedly stabbed the fox's body.
Shadows snaked around Ghostlystar's mind; they slowly integrated themselves into his thoughts to slowly shatter them. The agony wouldn't stop being conveyed from the fox's anguish to the leader's possession and even though Ghostlystar tried to suppress it, the screams kept coming. His claws were slitting open the fox's flesh now, blood spilling across his pads. He ignored the pain splitting through him from the fox's efforts to resist. Blood came from the blue-eyed leader's sides that heaved.
The fox couldn't move, forelegs ripped of all nerves that controlled movement. Endless anguish. Excruciating torment. The excoriation of its flesh in strips. Flaying it to pieces. Interminable torture. Ghostlystar could feel it. Its body bucked in blind torture. It couldn't stop screaming. He was now tearing it limb from limb. He could feel it. Talons pricked at its neck. He could feel muscle fibers separating, ripping, breaking. Bones popped and splintered. Blood pooled in his mouth and hair.
"Father!"
That voice shattered his mindless state, drove away the shadows. He was no longer the demon; he was the leader of BrightClan. He had to remember that.
"Father! Stop!" Hollowpaw cried, limping forward. He hesitated though, seeing his father bent over the dead, mutilated fox. He had never seen Ghostlystar, or any other warrior, do that.
Rage had overwhelmed his rationale. He could no longer think, only feel. He stared at the ground, the bloody soil. Ghostlystar lifted his head and turned, feeling blank. He couldn't hear anything and his sight was a blur. The black tom turned to Stormfeather with an expression of 'help me' before toppling over.
"Father! Father!" Hollowpaw cried, running to his father. He nosed Ghostlystar. He saw that his father had lost his first life to save his.
"Hollowpaw, tell...your mother...to help the others first before me," Ghostlystar said huskily. It had happened so fast; it was almost as if it had never happened.[/sub]

Stormfeather heard the tom's mention. She had kept cool while he shredded the fox. She was the only one who knew how fragile the tom's mind was. Stormfeather padded up to him and licked his head quickly before padding to Gingerpaw and Swirlstorm. Any of you who is well enough to move, help guide Swirlstorm, Gingerpaw, and Hollowpaw home. She called out. But as she did, Gingerpaw stirred and stood.
I'll help Swirlstorm. She meowed. Then she propped her shoulder up against the cat and helped make him stand. Come on big guy, let's get you home. She meowed, walking away with him.
Stormfeather turned, and padded to Ghostlystar. She finally shuddered and looked at the flailed body of the fox. Ghostlystar... She shook her head. What happened? She asked him, blue eyes seeping into blue.
Stormprowler, the elderly tom, padded from the undergrowth. Under a questioning stare from Stormfeather, he meowed, I needed to stretch my legs. He padded to Hollowpaw and meowed, Let's get you home, youngster. He began to guide the hurt apprentice home. That left the leader and his mate.
Stormfeather's blue orbs searched him as she noticed scratches from the fox. Ghostlystar. Everyone else has head home. Let's get you there too. She sat down beside him and nosed him gently. Ghostlystar? She meowed, hoping he would answer.

Hollowpaw sniffled. "This is all my fault," he whimpered, turning away from his parents to trod forlornly after Stormprowler. His tail dragged through the dirt and his head laid low.
He was staring off into space. His eyes were dim. He barely moved, save for the occasional slight twitch of his chest to show he was breathing. His body hurt; the pain had finally come full circle, hitting him right between the eyes. "I'm not hungry," he whispered, his voice cracking. His body trembled on the ground, feeling like a leaf. Stormprowler halted in his footsteps, staring down at the apprentice. What makes you think this was your fault? He asked Hollowpaw. If it is anyone's it's Starclan's. They sent the kit away, I'm sure, and you went to find them. In the end, it's their fault, not yours. He licked the kit between the ears, and set off again.
Stormfeather knew of this Ghostlystar. He was broken, hiding inside himself again. She nosed him again. If you're going to be depressed, you can't stay here. You need to go back to camp. She meowed to him. She knew there was nothing she could do for him but be there, as she always had been these last moons. She nudged him again. I'll take you there, then you can go to your den, where I'll send up herbs and fresh-kill for you, hungry or not. She meowed soothingly, licking his brow.

Hollowpaw nodded noncommittally, trudging after Stormprowler. "I know, but I went after her without asking and then this happened because they went looking for me." He sighed heavily.
Ghostlystar trembled and struggled to his lissome limbs, looking bedraggled from the rain and in his current state. He swallowed a lump in his throat and turned to her, his dull gaze unwavering. "I suppose I could go back to camp," he said wearily, limping off.[/sub]

Stormprowler shook his head. No. They decided to go after you of their own accord. We knew what you were doing, and don't worry. Everything will be fine.He purred comfortingly.
ooc;; Can Hollowpaw develop a strong bond with Stormprowler? Sort of like a grandfatherish way?
bic;; Stormfeather lent him her shoulder as they trudged silently therough the forest. Thoughts churned in her head as she fretted over Ghostlystar. She hoped this would never come again, but she was wrong. Now she needed to stand at bay, only offernig help when he wanted it, and be there for him.

((Sure :] He's the only one Hollow has since Cin died))
Hollowpaw's head still hung. "I...I guess so," he mumbled wearily.
Ghostlystar sighed wearily and pressed against his mate, following her back to the camp. His eyes hurt to even open and his legs felt as if someone was stabbing him with each step. When he finally reached his den and the comforting scent of pine, he collapsed on his bed, whimpering slightly. Sleep stole him like a kiss of death.

ooc;; Alright!
bic;; Stormprowler nudged him with a paw. Cheer up little fella! You'll find that life brings many hardships, but it also brings plenty of rewards. Put the past in the past and focus on the present. Stormprowler smiled gently at the apprentice, Plus, everyone's going to live, so we're fine! He still smiled as they walked.
Stormfeather left Ghostlystar and walked to the medicine den. When she recieved the herbs she needed, the she-cat padded away, stopping at the fresh-kill pile for a plump rabbit. She carried her burden to his den and stepped inside. Stormfeather dropped off everything and padded to him. She licked his head gently and left. She filled moss with water and returned to place it beside his head so he could drink if needed. Then she left to go visit the injured cats.
