Her paws took her away, away from the Clan. Away from the noise of battle and war. The images of blood coming out of her clanmates flashed across her eyes as she blinked, every second, every minute, every step. Her eyes shut and opened agian. Gracepaw couldn't take it. She hated fighting, even with her mentors that she's had, she hated when they asked her to attack them. She hated it. She shook her stipped head, eyes distressed. Scanning the clearing from which she just entered, she gave a sigh. It looked peaceful, but looks can be deciveing. The she-cat sighed as she sat down, curling her tail around her paws and allowed the tears to slowly seep down her cheeks.

"Y'know, you shouldn't run away from camp like that...," Lunarmyth's cracking voice trickled from the gloom. The elderly female trudged out from the ferns and grasses. The silver tabby mewed a greeting as she neared Gracepaw. She blinked when she saw that the female was crying. Lunarmyth neared the apprentice and touched her with her tail. "Gracepaw, what's the matter?" The grandmotherly streak was starting to come out in her, seen in the way Lunarmyth plodded over to the fellow BrightClanner and plopped herself right on the ground with a tired groan. Thank StarClan for this warm weather. The nights were become warmer each day, which meant more incentive for Lunarmyth to get up and walk around instead of napping like she usually did. She missed Cinnabarcloud in the elder's den with her. She liked listening to his flamboyant stories as much as the kits did. Hopefully she could tell stories to the next batch of kits. Every kit was an apprentice now...

Gracepaw jumped, not expecting anyone to have come around. She quickly wiped the tears away, the groaned as she heard what the elder had said. She shook her head. "It's nothing, Lunarmyth. Just me being pathtic, like I normally am" She murmured quietly as she looked down at her paws and curled her tail tightly around her frail paws. She glanced up once at the she-cat elder, holding her gaze for a moment, and everything, all her thoughts, came out. "I hate fighting! I hate listening to the talk of it, I hate watching it, seeing the wounds and blood that'll drip out of any cat's pelt. I hate it. Hate it, hate it hate it!" She mewed, tears spilling from her eyes as she glanced away from Lunarmyth.

"Y'know, it's a change seeing my grandson like this. Before he became Clan Leader, he was such a reckless tomcat, always throwing himself into any war or battle without any remorse. No questions. No apologies. No regrets. That's how he was," Lunarmyth said. "But now that he's Ghostlystar, I feel like he's starting to give more care and caution into the feelings of others. It's tearing him apart to give the orders to fight something that is suicide. Oh yes, he will do it, but at what cost? The roulette of never seeing the majority of his family ever again because of this Tribe?" Lunarmyth turned her dark-brown eyes towards Gracepaw. "If you ask him if you may stay, I'm sure that he will not mind knowing that at least one cat is alive back at home. Stormprowler and I are staying here so you can kip with us, plus we'll need a few warriors and apprentices here to guard and patrol. Fighting is a part of life, Gracepaw. I don't know how else to tell you that your abhorrence of fighting is a stigma on your life as a warrior."

Gracepaw gave a sigh, then rubbed her eyes wit her paws. She glanced up at Lunarmyth, cocking her head at the elder. "Fighting was never ment for me. I always did know that once I was born a kittypet, I would always be one. That's why I was dropped in BrigtClan. My parents didn't want me. My adopted parents didn't want me, and now the Clan probably doesn't want me." She mewed with a sigh, but looked up at the she-cat, meeting the elder's brown eyes. "But you know what? My parents didn't haven an elder that told them many things, like you tell me. I'll gather the courage to ask if I can stay back. And I'd give my worthless life for you, Lunarmyth." She finished, glancing aroudn the clearing, looking as if something were going to jump out and attack her.

"Don't talk like that," Lunarmyth barked, raising her paw and swatting Gracepaw scoldingly over the head. "My grandson isn't some brute that goes around abandoning cats just because they don't think they're good enough. Our very own deputy, Lastfalling, wasn't clan-born. Patriotcross, the massive tom that was first to speak about going to war, wasn't Clan-born. Northrain was born into a family of abusive parents but look at her now. She's got a mate now, Jaspersmoke. Hell, Ghostlystar hasn't exactly been on a path lit by StarClan ever since he was born. My father was a leader and I knew that that BrightClan's leader position had to have been cursed, but look at him. He's trying his best to keep his Clan together. When Northrain was a kit-turned-apprentice, she had lived through three leaders. Three! A elder like me is supposed to live through three, not a six-mooner." Lunarmyth made sure Gracepaw was looking at her. "So don't tell me you're worthless, hear? I don't want to hear that."

Asilver tabby tom trotted along the trees, his sapphire blue eyes filled with joy. He couldn't scent anything except for the squirrel that he carried, that's why his face was full of surprise. He dropped the squirrel as he fought for words to say, he stared at Gracepaw. He didn't realize how beautiful the apprentice was "Hello Lunermyth, hi Gracepaw" Eastfrost's eyes fell to the ground as he said hi to Gracepaw.

Gracepaw stared at the elder as she let her words sink in. Compared to other cats, she had at least a happy ending. "Perhpas I'm not as worthless as I thought...." She mewed, trialing off as she looked to the ground, her tail twitching nervouslty. As another voice came to her ears, her head snapped up, surprised that some cat knew who she was. "He-hello Eastfrost" She mewed, shyly, glancing at Lunarmyth out of the corner of her eye.

Lunarmyth's brown eyes cut over to Eastfrost. "Hello there, young man," the elder said briskly. The female turned her head towards the silver male, raising her muscled brows. She came to her feet. "My work is done here... I'll expect to see you at a reasonable hour," she said softly, twitching her tail to both cats as she turned away and plodded heavily back home.
