Ghostlywind stood horrified at what he had just seen, and he knew Runningcloud was as well. The lithe black tom turned and bolted for home, yowling in fury that he could not protect Thrushstar or Morninghawk.
Taking Murdercalling's body from Runningcloud, he scrambled into camp as fast as he could with the corpse, meowing as loud as he could. "BrightClanners! Thrushstar and Morninghawk have been taken by Twolegs!" he roared. The thunderous report from the Monster that had captured them honked in the distance, echoing his cry.
Ghostlywind's body caved with the weight of Murdercalling on his back. He felt like the world was crashing onto him.

Hauntingdream rushed up to her brother. 'Oh, StarClan...' she whispered when she heard him. She stood for a minute, frozen. Ooc: Sorry, bad post, I think I have writers block.

Swirlpaw was eating a piece of prey when he heard Ghostlywinds yowl, and immediately felt dizzy. Thrushstar gone? He didn't believe it, he couldn't believe it. Thrushstar was the only cat that ever liked him. he never treated him like a kit and actually helped him. he cant be gone. it's impossible. but he is. and he's not coming back. There must not be a Starclan if something this bad could happen. Swirlpaw got up and ran out of camp. Is life worth it? Worth all the death, and sorrow? he couldn't tell but he just had to get out.

Ghostlywind stumbled to his feet. "Cloudedsky, please... Take Murdercalling. Runningcloud told me to give him to ya," he said weakly. He did not notice Swirlpaw racing past him. His electric-blue eyes were dull and dazed.
The black tom nudged the calico off his back and began dragging him to the medicine cat's den. "Cloudedsky.... Cloudedsky..."

Cloudedsky nodded soberly and took Murdercalling's limp body from Ghostlywind. She started to slowly drag him back to camp.

Pansyleaf said nothing as the shock registered. Thrushstar? But he had just become leader! And Morninghawk had been the best medicine cat they'd had in her lifetime. She shook her head, sadly. BrightClan was losing cats so fast. Having come back from the battle, wounded warriors, and now no leader or medicine cat? That was when she noticed Swirlpaw run out of camp, looking as if he might cry. She winced, and forced herself to run after him.
Once she caught up, she sat down next to him. "It'll be okay, Swirlpaw." She was suprised she'd remembered his name, even. She hadn't payed much attention to him lately, and had scarcely noticed he exsisted. "They'll come back. And even if they don't- BrightClan will survive. " Her fading gray pelt stood out among the ferns, which brushed her fur in a light breeze. She held back her bitter tears and tried to swallow a lump lodged in her throat as she awaited the apprentice's reaction.

Swirlpaw hardly heard her. Memories clouded his mind like a thick fog on unexplored territory. His mothers fathers and sisters deaths echoed in his mind accompanied bye the disappearance of Thrushstar.
When he realized what Pansyleaf had said his head whipped toward her. A look of pure Anger in his ice blue eyes was Blurred by his tears. "How could he come back" he spat, "No cat that has been taken by twolegs ever comes back." By the time he finished his sentence he was sobbing.

Pansyleaf only glanced at him as he spat at her, knowing he didn't mean any of his anger. He was upset, she knew that. He was so young, with so much anger and sadness in his life. He should be like the other apprentices, playing, laughing, joking- but Swirlpaw had never been like the others, and Pansyleaf was sure he wouldn't ever be. "If anycat can do it, Thrushstar can." And she meant what she said.
With a sinking feeling, she realized what a game this all was. Swirlpaw was right, they would never return. But she didn't say any more, only turned away to do what she could to help. "Ghostlywind, is there anything I can do to help?" She asked, subdued by the greif that consumed her. This was all a bad dream, she told herself. She'd wake up any minute. Except at the same time, she knew it wasn't a dream. It was real, so real it hurt.

Amberpaw looked up in alarm as Cloudedsky dragged Murdercallings body into the medicine cat den. "What in the....Murdercalling? No he cant be...." she gabbled, her eyes round with shock. She hadnt really known Murdercalling very well but she knew that he had been a great warrior. She padded over to Cloudedsky and brushed against her mentor for comfort. "Is there anything i can do? I mean help other cats i know that Murdercalling.." she stopped, being unable to finish the sentence. she then heard the commotion outside and crept out to look. As she listened she gasped in shock and raced back inside the den. "Cloudedsky! It isnt true is it? Thrushstar isnt really gone?" she cried before sitting down with a thump. Too many cats had been and for what? A battle that wasnt even theirs to fight.

As Pansyleaf left He wondered if he should follow and help at camp. But he couldn't. opening his mouth to a slit he let the scents of the land wash over him, calming his mind. He wanted to just sit like that forever, not caring, no worries.
But then came the scent off the monster and the fear scent off cats. Spiting in disgust, he walked farther away from camp hoping to find more of that clam that he lost as a kit.

Murdercalling rolled off of Ghostlywind's back into a heap of fur and bones.
Stormprowler gazed, horrified, as she stood beside Ghostlywind. "No!" She whispered, horrified.

Ghostlywind's infernal blue eyes snapped towards Pansyleaf. "No, I'm...fine...thank ya," he rasped. The black tom stumbled, unused to the lack of weight that was Murdercalling. He winced and leaned onto his mate.
"Stormfeather...," he mumbled and then turned murderously the the entrance of BrightClan. "CHAOSFIRE! I swear b'StarClan I will CRUSH y'ar body to RUIN!" he roared, speckles of madness clinging to his electric irises. A maniacal smile cracked open his face, similar to the one he bore when his mentor was slain by rogue cats. "Stormfeather, I'll kill 'er. I swear I'll burn down the Forest if I hafta go that far..." The crazy tom growled and turned his back to the direction of the Thunderpath.

"Are you so sure you want to go to that limit?" A rusty voice called. A bloodstained, scar-laced cat padded towrds him. "Are you so sure? Are you just wanting to protect your little kitties from an impending doom?" She snarled.
"And I'll be right beside you," Stormfeather meowed, standing a little taller. When she heard the traitorous cat's voice she turned and snarled.

Pansyleaf screeched when she heard Chaosfire's voice. She'd followed them back to camp from SerenityClan! "Must we fight you again? I'd though you'd learned your lesson!" She leaped at the tratorious cat with her claws out and raked her claws into the already bloody fur. She was becoming tired of fighting, just tired in general.

Chaosfire lazily flicked away the she-cat before backing into the bracken. Soon all that was left were two glowing eyes. "Watch your back, little tom, for I am coming, and you will all fall to doom..." The last words were carried on in the breeze as the traitor disappeared into the air it seemed, surely leacving cats in despair and anxiety, wondering when she would strike.

Ghostlywind's tail flicked around, ignoring Chaosfire. "Leave here. Y'ar not welcome. Not now, not ever. I don't go back on m'promises. That's my code. Ya've made a mistake, rogue. Now that Thrushstar's gone, his strength depends on mine. All the cats I've respected ov'r the years that have gone... I've made it m'promise to fight with their strength. When I kill ya, Murdercallin' will kill ya. Thrushstar will kill ya. Howlin'hawk will kill ya!" he snarled, spitting out the name of his murdered mentor. The black tom turned to where she once stood. "Ya'll never hurt us, not ever again!"

Pansyleaf rolled in the dust where she'd been thrown off, and just lay for a few moments, breathing softly and thinking of what was happening. I need some sleep, time to put the old horse down... She groaned and pushed herself to her feet, wishing she had something to cheer her up, but instead limped feebly to her mossy nest and lay down beside the other sleeping cats. Just gotta let it go.. just gotta let it go.. She felt her eyes grow heavy, and tucked her tail over her nose. Her vision went fuzzy, and she was soon almost asleep. The last thing she remembered before the welcoming warmth of sleep enveloped her lulled her considerably. Just gotta let it go.

I need you. Don't ever forget that.
Stormfeather seemed to stand a little taller at his words, and she licked his chin. "Ghostlywind..." She mewed, "Everything's changing, and we can't stop it. We have to move on, right?" She mewed to him, looking into his eyes.
Your words are all I need to hear.

"There cannot be anymore movin' on until I've skinned that cat, Stormfeather," Ghostlywind said quietly. He gestured to all the cats. "I'm going to have a vigil for Mornin'hawk, Murdercallin' and Thrushstar." He purred as he left Stormfeather's side to disappear into the shadows that pervaded the BrightClan camp.

Suddenly, as if coming out of a trance, the lump of fur and bones moved. As if in a dream, the body came to a stand and looked upon all of the clan. "The time has come. Our world will be taken over by evil, and there is nothing we can do to stop it." Murdercalling dropped to the ground, and he was panting. Hard.
Stormfeather looked at Ghostlywind, strengthened by his words. She screamed when she heard Murdercalling and ran over to thom. "Murdercalling!" She gasped, as she watched the tom struggle between the border of life and death. A black tom pushed his way through. "That's my son!" He cried. Stormprowler ran to his son, and pushed Stormfeather out of the way. "Murdercalling... You can't leave me..."
"Father.... You know I will be okay..." Murdercalling struggled, screaming out in pain. "Nothing will stop us from taking your world...." Murdercalling looked from each cat, his terror reflected in the eyes of his father. "I love you, dad, and Runespell, and Leopardflight, as if you were my sister..." With that, the light faded from his eyes, but were regained with a blazing red. "I go to where no Starclan cat has stepped. I will not be among your ranks of pitiful useless spirits." The spirit drifted away into a world which no clan cat had ever heard of.
A loud wail sounded from the father of this now lifeless form. He pressed up against his son.

((For a minute, I had the urge to have Ghostlywind yell out "The power of StarClan compells you!" -___-;;; ))
Ghostlywind turned haughtily to Murdercalling's body. "Y'ar a traitor if ya've joined them!" he hissed. "We should support StarClan more than ever in this time of need, not be joining some lowclass thuglife tribe!" He scowled and prodded Murdercalling's body. "May StarClan intervene, m'friend." He sighed weakly and let out a long mournful yowl for all three lost.

ooc:// Nice. I could see him crying that.
bic:// Stormfeather echoed his cry, and she looked upon the deceased bodies. How could Starclan rid of the cats they had loved? What was wrong with them? Was something here they could not even control? The thought made Stormfeather shiver, and she pressed against Ghostlywind.

Amberpaw turned to face her mentor as she heard the others with Murdercalling. "Cloudedsky what did Murdercalling mean? A place where no Starclanner has ever walked before...Is there such a place?" she asked, her eyes clouding with confusion and she sat down. This was all so weird, what a horrible twisted day it had been.

Ryekit tumbled out of the nursery, hoping his mother wouldn't catch him. It had all been so crazy lately, and he had to know what was going on. Where was Pecankit? He dug his claws into the ground, and gasped when he saw Murdercalling lying dead at Stormprowler's paws. His uncle! He squealed and ran to him. The little tabby kit buried himself in the bloodied fur, wishing with all of his heart that Murdercalling would come back. But he knew he wouldn't. He was sobbing openly now.

Ghostlywind frowned and hung his head over Murdercalling, gently licking Ryekit's ear. "Ya'll have to grow up and be a warrior in his place, 'kay, Ryekit?" he said quietly. His blue eyes blazed fiercely as he looked at Stormfeather and the others. He nodded to get her attention and jerked his head to the camp entrance.
