Foxtail padded swiftly out of camp, peering behind her to see if Deathwish was following. The forest was blooming now that newleaf had come, and the sun was beating down through the trees. New life was spinging up; green shoots were everywhere and the grass was long and green. Birds were singing and there wasn't a cloud in the sky. The day was beautiful, shame it wasn't the same for the mood in camp. Foxtail had just wanted to get out, and stretch her legs.

[Wolf]

Deathwish followed after Foxtail in silence.

[fernie. (:]

Foxtail's mouth watered as the scent of mouse came towards her. 'Hold on.' she said quietly. She dropped into a hunter's crouch and crawled into the bushes. Asecond later she emerged, a mouse dangling from her jaws. 'Want to share?' she asked Deathwish.

[Wolf]

(Ooh flir-tay! lol)
"Sure." Meowed Deathwish, padding over to her.

[fernie. (:]

Ooc: Of course- sharing a mouse is now the most flirty thing in the world! xD
Bic: Foxtail took a dainty bite of mouse, letting the meat flood her senses.

[Wolf]

Deathwish took a bite slowly, watching Foxtail.

[fernie. (:]

'So... how've you been?' asked Foxtail quietly, sitting up to give herself a wash.

[Wolf]

"OK I guess." Deathwish meowed, stretching then sitting down.

[fernie. (:]

Foxtail felt a cool breeze stroking though her fur. 'You guess? Don't you know?' she mewed, laughter dancing in her eyes.

[Wolf]

Deathwish just twitched his whiskers and glanced up at her with amusement showing on his face.

[fernie. (:]

Foxtail stood up and stretched, yawning widely. 'Wanna hunt for a bit? Refresh the kill pile?' she sat down and put her head on one side, swiping her tongue round her jaws as she did so.

[Wolf]

Deathwish nodded. "Sure." He meowed.

[fernie. (:]

As Foxtail got gracefully to her feet she opened her mouth to draw in any scents round about. She quickly pinpointed a thrush pecking around the roots of a tree. She dropped into a hunters' crouch and pulled herself forward, little by little. When she was a rabbit hop away the bird turned and saw the she-cat but Foxtail had already sprung and had killed the bird before it had time to open its wings. She trotted back to Deathwish, tail high, and buried her catch under some flattened stems of grass.

[Wolf]

Deathwish let out a mrrow of amusement. He sniffed the air, scenting a vole nearby. He swiftly dropped to the ground. He crept forwards slowly, one paw at a time, until he felt confident that he was close enough. He pushed off with his back legs, and landed on top of the vole, biting into it's neck. He picked it up and buried it nearby.

Foxtail smiled as Deathwish came back with his catch, then winced as pain shot up her leg through her paw. She lifted it gingerly and examined it. There was a large thorn embedded deep in her flesh. Bright red blood welled up all around it. Foxtail licked her paw carefully, flinching from time to time.

[Wolf]

Deathwish padded over to her, concerned. "Do you want me to try to pull it out, or shall we go back to camp?"

[fernie. (:]

Foxtail sat down to make it easier for her to balance. 'You could try, if you want. Don't be afraid of hurting me.' the words tasted sour in her mouth, and a picture of Thunderflash, her one true love, filled her vision. She shook it away but couldn't get rid of the tears welling up in her eyes.

[Wolf]

Deathwish blinked his icey eyes at her. "What's wrong?" He meowed. He bent his head and inspected the thorn, then carefully gripped it in his teeth and pulled it out as quickly as he could, he didn't want to hurt her.

~Foxtail~

Foxtail winced, but shook her paw and gave it a thorough lick to make it feel better. 'Thank you.' she said, looking gratefully to Deathwish. The hearing his question, she looked away. 'It- It doesn't matter. You probably won't want to be brought down by my past.' she mewed quietly.

[Wolf]

"You listened to mine." Deathwish pointed out, nudging her gently.

[fernie. (:]

~Foxtail~

Foxtail sat down with her shoulders hunched. 'It started when I was a kit, I suppose. I was an only child and made friends with another kit in the nursery. His name was...' she faltered. 'His name was Thunderkit. We became great friends. We didn't really make friends with anyone else in the Clan...' she fell silent, lost in memory.

[Wolf]

Deathwish nodded, listening intently.

[fernie. (:]

~Foxtail~

Foxtail went on, suddenly wanting to tell someone. 'We were really good friends, and became warriors on the same day, in leafbare. We sat vigil in the snow. I was fine, but Thnunderflash got greencough.' she said sadly, shaking her head. 'It was then that I realized that I liked him as more than a friend. I...I loved him.' tears filled Foxtail's eyes, but she blinked them away. 'I told him one night in the medicine cat's den, and he told me he felt the same way. I was overjoyed, until I found out the next morning that the greencough had overpowered him and he had died.' the tears overflowed over the she-cats eyes, and she sobbed quietly, head down.

[Wolf]

Deathwish sat for a while, unsure what to do. Then he snuggled against her, hoping it was the right thing to do.

[fernie. (:]

Foxtail leaned against Deathwish for a minute, with her eyes closed. Then she realized that she did have a friend in the Clan, and that she wasn't alone! 'Thanks, Deathwish, for being there for me.'

[Wolf]

Deathwish purred, "Thanks for being here for me too." He replied.

[fernie. (:]

Foxtail pushed her muzzle into Deathwish's side and purred loudly. She twined her tail with his, then yawned and lay on the sun baked ground.

[Wolf]

Deathwish lay down beside her, feeling the happiest he had felt in his life. He purred and closed his eyes.

[fernie. (:]

Foxtail sat up and looked intently at Deathwish. 'We are... friends, right? Iwas just wondering, because I've never had a proper friend after Thunderflash.' she sighed, and dust settled on her nose.

[Wolf]

Deathwish blinked sleepily up at her, "Of course." he meowed, smiling.
