A bird twittered and flew away from the camp ground as a bulky tomcat stepped close to it. He sniffed, unable to see the bird he had almost just stepped on. Then he snorted and continued throughout the camp, heading towards the fresh kill pile. It was almost as if a line was drawn vertically down his face. The right half of his face was black and the left half of his face was orange. He had dull, sightless green eyes that have never shown any emotion. Mostly because Paintedeyes was blind. His nose leather was pink and black and his body fur was black, rippled with rusty red. He had long limbs that were set on small paws. He flicked his ears and followed the scent to the pile. Paintedeyes, a senior warrior that was about nine years old, started to trot faster. Why was the fresh-kill pile so far away? He definitely didn't remember it being so faraway.
Then he picked up a scent he hasn't smelled in such a long time. Yarrowclaw. Turning his head to face his Starry mate, he said, "What're ye doin' 'ere?" He moved closer to her and touched noses with the Star filled she-cat. Her soft voice echoed off his ears, "I've come to visit you."
Something bumped Paintedeyes in his side and Yarrowclaw's scent faded quickly, "Wait!" He called and called for his mate until he opened his eyes. Needlefur, his gray tomcat of a son, was prodding him in the side with a paw. "Wake up, ye old coot! 'Tis bloody time to wake up! If yer gonna be a warrior still, yer gonna 'ave to wake up sooner!" Paintedeyes could not mistake the british accent that his son inherited from him. He grinned handsomely and sat up, licking the moss out of his fur, "Fine then, Needle! Now gerroff me back 'bout it!" Paintedeyes stood up, stretched, and trotted out of the warrior's den. Needlefur followed him quietly then said, "Aye, Dad, I'm goin' to visit Breezepelt and the kits." Paintedeyes nodded and waited until his son's scent faded before he laid down in the middle of camp and enjoyed the sun sink in to his fur.
Paintedeyes looked around and said to himself, "Maybe I'll go fer a walk."

Snowflake awoke from her nest, and padded out into the morning sunshine. She recognized Paintedeyes, and smiled at her. Would you like me to come along? She asked the she-cat, yawning. She padded to the fresh-kill pile and grabbed a rabbit and a vole. Have something. She offered.

Clearpool yawned and stretched from her place in the warriors den. She had had a really good sleep and she wasnt even sure she wanted to get up from her soft nest in the middle of the den. She stood up and padded outside, fluffing up her snowy white pelt as the cold whipped through it. She padded over to the fresh-kill pile, taking a mouse for her breakfast. "Morning" she said to Paintedeyes and Snowflake, dipping her head to both the warriors, though she knew Paintedeyes wouldnt be able to see the gesture. She walked to a slightly shaded spot where it looked vaguely warm and sat down to eat. She looked towards the apprentices den and wondered whether Pansypaw would be awake yet. I must speak to Jasminestar about their warrior ceremonies she thought, the 'their' meaning Pansypaw, Petalpaw and Daisypaw. She finished her meal and after burying the bones sat down to give herself a groom.

Peanutdrift's gentle eyes opened briefly, seeing the beautiful she-cat approach the pile of fresh-kill. His orbs, colored with mixed swirls of cocoa and broken bark, half-closed at the sight as he pulled himself onto his small legs that seemed to impossibly hold up his massive body. His long jowls hung like feather and swayed delicately as he approached the pile as well. His smile was faint and painted in patience. He dipped his head to the deputy and lifted himself up, nipping a squirrel out of the place and chomping down heavily. He waved his broom-like tail towards Clearpool in greeting, silence cresting his features.

Clearpool looked up as Peanutdrift walked to the fresh-kill pile and smiled. She dipped her head back to the long haired brown tom. She stood up and stretched, arching her back. She padded delicately over to the big tom, raising her white paws as if this would help keep the cold from nipping at them. She sat down next to the tom, curling her tail around her paws to help keep warm. "How are you this cold morning?" she asked him, her blue eyes warm and friendly and her ears pricked towards him with interest.

((Paintedeyes is a tomcat, Fireh XD))
Paintedeyes nodded in response to Snowflake's question, "Thank ye, young one." He sniffed out the vole and pulled it towards himself. "You take the rabbit, yer body needs it more than mine... wait a sec..." The senior warrior smiled cheesily, "I hate geddin' thing messed up like tha', no?" Then he took a bite of the vole and swallowed.

Snowflake laughed. She took the rabbit and began to chew, thinking about Octoberlies. Was he okay? She needed to see him later. So, wanna go on that walk? She asked, when she had finished the rabbit.
ooc;; I knew that. xDDD

For moons the tom had been found outside the medicine cat's den of the SerenityClan camp, hoping he'd be noticed by Jasminestar with an offer to be in the Clan, and today was no exception. He noticed Paintedeyes trotting to rest in the sun, soon to be accompanied Snowflake, Clearpool, and Peanutdrift. Night Tree had learned the names of all of the cats in this Clan after living in it so long. Bored to a large extent, he padded up to join the group of four, dipping his head to all. Of course, the blind tom could not see it, but he had respect for him after having managed to get through life that way. He then took a few timid steps back from the group, unsure if he was welcome.[/sup]

Paintedeyes caught the scent of Night Tree. The blind tomcat flicked his tail in greeting, "Come back 'ere, you, no need ter feel timid, yer know. We're all friendly 'ere." He smiled and stood up, finishing off the vole. "OK, right, abou' the walk, who else would wanna come? How 'bout you, Night Tree?"

"A bit rusty on the limbs but other than that, I am most content," Peanutdrift replied softly, his green eyes crinkling at their edges in happiness. The black, brown, and white tom turned his long-jowled head over to her after finishing his quick meal. He smiled at her. "How are you? Training with Pansypaw going well? She seems like a fine young warrioress-to-be, just like her mother, Cherrysmoke." His body quaked at his husky but gentle chuckle. The tom shook out his fur, puffing him out so much that he looked like a startled owl that had had a snowball thrown at it. Laughing at himself for looking rather ludicrous, Peanutdrift smoothed down his fur and glanced up, his lopsided grin seemingly making the day less dreary. His presence tended to do that.

Clearpool smiled widely at the tom and at his grin the cold seemed to dissappear from her paws. "Oh i'm fine, just cold!" she laughed, keeping her white pelt fluffed up. She nodded as Peanutdrift mentioned Pansypaw. "Yes, she is a very good apprentice, always helpful and willing. She trains hard. It will be her warrior ceremony soon i should think, along with Petalpaw and Daisypaw" she said, proud that her apprentice had been such a pleasure to teach. She laughed as Peanutdrift mentioned Cherrysmoke. "She would do well to be as good a warrioress as her mother, Cherrysmoke is strong and capable. I can imagine Pansypaw to be like that," she then added with a chuckle, "But maybe with less of a temper!".

Peanutdrift let out a roar of laughter at the mention of temper. "Oh yes, right, right. Cherrysmoke is a fiesty one and being a mother probably increases this," the mottled-toned tom chuckled, nodding a bit. "I bet Pansypaw wants to be deputy like you, yes?" He avoided the delicate conversation of including Moonkit along with Petalpaw and Daisypaw. In the tom's opinion, Moonkit had ran away just like his father Crescentgaze. For why, Peanutdrift knew not.

"Oh, yes, Paintedeyes. I'd like that a lot." It seemed like the other cats had grown used to him living here. That was perfect, especially if he might become a Clan cat. When Petalpaw's name was mentioned by Clearpool, Night Tree's face grew hot. His connection with the she-cat had grown over the time he'd lived here. They were felines of about the same age with a nicely increasing relationship. Whenever he saw her, he felt warm. When some cat spoke of her, he blushed. When he was with her, his heart thudded and his face would sweat.[/sup]

Two cerulean eyes blinked from the shadowy depths of the medicine den. A grey tabby watched the cats talking together. His eyes were following Snowflake. He wanted to come out of his refuge, but there were too many cats around. Snowflake, Paintedeyes, Peanutdrift, Night Tree, Clearpool... Octoberlies shuddered. He caught snippings of conversation, but tried not to listen. He did not want to be nost, he was just bored, confined to the medicine cat's den. Octoberlies' ears pricked up as he caught Snowflake offering to go on a walk. The injured warrior limped heavily from Runningcloud's den, looking feeble and pathetic among his muscled, healthy clanmates. He approached Snowflake, and touched her shoulder with his tail tip. "I'll join you," he mewed tentatively. "If you don't mind a slow one." He shuffled his paws, eyes down.

Clearpool smiled widely and laughed quietly as Peanutdrift did. She smiled at the mention of Pansypaw being a deputy. "Well, shes perfectly capable, but i do not know what she really wants in life, if it be to be a mother, like her own or travel up the ranks of the Clan like me" she said, smiling. "I would be overjoyed if she were to succeed me one day" she said as an afterthought, as she knew it was true words she spoke. She looked over at the others unsurely and then looked back at Peanutdrift. "Would you like to join them? Because i will if you will, but we can stay in camp or do something else if you like" she said, feeling happy enough to do anything really.

Paintedeyes tured his head at the scent of Octoberlies' scent. He started blankly at the injured warrior and chuckled deeply. "Unless ye haven't noticed, Octoberlies. I'm just as slow as ye are," the blind warrior pointed with his tail at his dull green eyes. "But ain't no problem or any reason ter feel bad. We'll just keep up with ya." Paintedeyes stood up and stretched, his hind leg cracked and he jumped a little, "Oh my! Why, did ye hear that?" He smiled to himself, muttering, "My, I'm jus' becoming older an' older. Soon enough, I won't be able ter be a warrior no more. Becomin' so much like me ol' man."

"Yes, that is true. She is a bright, young lady," the tom said, nodding his head before pausing as Clearpool spoke again.
"Nah, I'm going out to get some pine fronds to help recover the warriors' den," Peanutdrift said. "There's a hole in the roof and Leaf-bare is coming." The mottled tom groomed himself hastily before stretching and coming to his feet. "If you want to help out with that, I'm fine with that." He smiled courteously, not feeling awkward that Clearpool was of higher rank than he and that he was treating her like a warrior.

Clearpool nodded and dipped her head to the other warriors. "Yes, I'll accompany you, it would be a good idea to patch up the den, especially as i think snow is coming" she said, looking up to the sky. It would be awful if cats got ill because of the cold just beacuse there was the simple job of patching up the warriors den. "We could check the other dens while we're at it i suppose, i would like to know the nursery especially was up to scratch" she said, clear blue eyes looking around the camp. She turned her pretty white head to Peanutdrift, waiting to see what he had to say.

"You're right," Peanutdrift said in agreement with the deputy. The massive mottled tom came to his feet and padded to the borders of the Clan, picking up pine fronds as he walked along. He soon came back, hauling the fronds up to the den tops. When he was done patching up the hole he had seen, he turned to Clearpool. "Can you survey the other dens for holes while I get more coverings?" he asked the deputy with a small smile.

A tiny ball of brown-orange and white fur came streaking out of the nursery, landing head-over-paws beside Peanutdrift. "Sorry," she squeaked as she nearly ran into the massive tomcat's side. Her bright emerald eyes sparkled happily as she looked up at the deputy and Peanutdrift. "Wat'chya doin'?" she asked in her high pitched voice. [/blockquote]

"Well, now," Peanutdrift said, "Lavenderkit, what brings you out here in this cold weather? Clearpool is helping me patch up the dens so no snow or wind seeps through during Leafbare." The gentle and patient tom smiled at the young she-kit that was daughter to Pastelsky. "How are you and your siblings doing?"
"I'm doing fine," came a rough voice as Timberkit leapt past Lavenderkit and shook his fluffy brown pelt that made him look like a porcupine. His green eyes beamed like jaden fire.

Clearpool nodded towards Peanutdrift and bagen padding over to the nursery. She had to quickly leap out the way as two shapes hurtled outside, coming straight for her. "Careful you two!" she laughed, looking behind her as Lavenderkit and Timberkit kept bounding along towards Peanutdrift. She turned around again and slipped inside the nursery, to see Pastelsky and Freekit. "Good morning Pastelsky, Freekit, how are you both this cold day?" she asked, looking at the roof and walls of the nursery to see if there were and holes in them.

"We're good, thank you." Pastelsky meowed politely, dipping her head to the deputy. She wrapped her tail around Hopekit's silver body, watching as the more adventurous of her kits headed outside to see what was happening. "I found a little hole over here," she said helpfully, pointing with a brown paw to a small tear in the nursery walls.
"I just wanted to get out of the nursery for a bit!" the small tabby meowed, licking a paw then shivering at how cold it was. "But it is really cold out here! Do warriors stay out here all the time?" She asked, with a tone of wonder and disbelief in her voice. [/blockquote]

Peanutdrift laughed broadly and heartily, the kind that was contagious. "Well yes, that's our job, but it's not always cold. Leaf-bare will be over in a couple of moons and by that time, you'll be apprentices," the male told Lavenderkit and Timberkit. When Pastelsky came out, the mottled tom smiled and dipped his head respectfully to the queen. "Greetings, Pastelsky, and thanks." He then turned to the kits again as he started pulling the pine fronds over to the nursery hole. "Though it does help to have a fluffy pelt like your brother's."
Timberkit grinned and pressed against his sister. "Here, you can share some of my fluffy pelt, Lavenderkit," the tomkit mewed, nestling against her. He was adventurous as any boy, but this cold was a downer.

Clearpool nodded and went over to inspect the hole. "Your kits are certainly livley" she remarked, a warm smile enveloping her features. She wondered if she would get to mentor one of them, it would be Pansypaws warrior ceremony soon after all. She nodded and after dipping her head to Pastelsky she ventured back outside into the cold. She trotted swiftly over to Peanudrift and the other kits. "Theres only one small hole in the nursery wall. Now, i wonder who could help me patch it up" she said, looking at Lavenderkit and Timberkit with a small smile on her face.

Lavenderkit smiled, purring as her brother's warm pelt pressed against hers. Her mother had told her many times about how Timberkit had gotten that long fur - from their father, a great warrior named Mouseclaw. It was hard not to imagine their father as the greatest cat the forest had ever known, with strong, bulky shoulders and a rippling silver pelt. Lavenderkit didn't understand how you could miss a cat you'd never known, but somehow she did. Thinking of her father got her down a bit, but she quickly brightened as Clearpool dropped the hint. "I'll help! I'll help!" she sang as she tumbled towards the hole. She nearly fell through it, but a helpful push from her mother kept her from falling inside the warm nusury.
"Yes, they certainly are," smiled Pastelsky, licking Hopekit between the ears. [/blockquote]

((Lol, Kuri, you put Hopekit.))
"Me! Me! Me!" Timberkit started to say but when he heard Paintedeyes call out his sister's name, he decided to change directions. The tomkit bounded over to the blind tom and let out a loud mew. "I'm here too!" he beamed, the scent of pine and milk wafting from his excited frame.
Peanutdrift's hearty laugh added to the mirth and warm happy feelings floating around the camp. "I could sure use some strong paws for that," he said, smiling at Lavenderkit.

Paintedeyes lifted his nose in to the air and sniffed. "Yep, it sure is!" the tomcat bent down and nuzzled Timberkit. "And how warm ye are on such a cold mornin'!" The older warrior sat up and looked blankly in Timberkit's direction, "Tell me, Timberkit, what does it look like ter day?"

[ooc] I know, LOL. She licked Hopekit, the one still in the nursury, between the ears. ^-^ And Scribbs, you put Tomberkit instead of Timberkit LOL.
Lavenderkit squeaked with happiness as the blind elder, Paintedeyes, called her name. "Hi!" she exclaimed as she ran towards him. "Me and Timberkit are helping with all the hole-patching! We're going to keep the nusery all nice and warm, right?" she mewed, glancing at her brother. The lithe she-kit gasped as she remembered something. "Will you tell us a story when we're done! And don't make it boring, or this great lump may fall asleep!" she poked Timberkit with a paw, smiling cheekily.
Lavenderkit turned to Peanutdrift happily. "Me and Timberkit have strong paws!" She exclaimed, nearly forgetting Paintedeyes and charging over to Peanutdrift. "Let us help!" [/blockquote]
