Clearpool leapt up from her place with a yowl as Runningcloud exploded into camp. Her jaw dropped as she spotted Willowkits lifeless form. "Oh great StarClan, what have we done to deserve this?" she said helplessly under her breath as she ran to Runninglouds side. She stopped slightly short as she saw how angry the medicine cat was. She crept forwards and nosed the ginger she-cat to her paws. "Runningcloud, i think you should go and take some chamomile, you have every reason to be angry but it will help" she whispered in the ginger she-cats ear, looking deep into Runningclouds light green eyes with her own clear blue ones. She lay het tail over Runniungclouds shoulders gently as she waited for the medicine cat to speak. She braced herself for Runningcloud to blow her brains out, burst into tears or go meekly away. Clearpool really wasnt sure what to expect from the medicine cat this mad.
Brindletalon was looking fondly at Crocuspool when Runningcloud burst into camp. "What in the..." he began but stopped short when he saw Willowkits limp frame. "StarClan no" he whispered, shuffling closer to Crocuspool without even realizing it. He looked at the little kittens limp frame and knew then that no matter what he would do his very best to protect his Clan in the battle ahead, no matter what.

Crocuspool's breath caught in her throat as Runningcloud returned to camp carrying Willowkit's lifeless, bloody form. The tortoiseshell warrior ran to the medicine cat's side, and gave one muscular shoulder a nudge. "Come on," she murmured. Crocuspool tried not to look at Willowkit's body. It reminded her of other limp bodies, one's far closer to home... Crocuspool threw Brindletalon a greif stricken look over one speckled shoulder, her hazel eyes wet with tears. Another innocent life taken. "She should not have been out," she found herself murmuring. "She was too young, it was too dangerous.." Crocuspool shivered and looked up at the grey sky. What lengths would Chaosfire go to to get her revenge on SerenityClan? Killing kits that had been born long after her reign ended? Or was this just the start?

Runningcloud nodded wearily and stumbled to her feet. The broad-shouldered she-cat sighed heavily and trudged to her medicine den. Her body hurt all over, like a fever she couldn't sweat out. Shame coursed through her body. Though she was stern and firm with her apprentice, she was a motherly figure to the she-cat Willowkit. The female hadn't even gone to the MoonShard yet! "Aye, you're right..." She vanished within the dark depths of the medicine den, which seemed even more gloomy than usual.
Pansypaw's eyes saddened at Willowkit's form and she sat down heavily. She hoped nothing like that had happened to Moonkit. She looked up at Clearpool and the apprentice stood on sturdy paws. "Clearpool, I would like to go with you!" she said firmly.

Jasminestar was milling around the camp when Runningcloud came back. Her eye found Willowkit's body. Jasminestar's eyes widen. Oh no. She ran forward, her paws slipping. Runningcloud, are you okay? Her eyes clouded with worry and sadness. What happened to her? [/blockquote]

Runningcloud's back was turned to Jasminestar, her broad shoulders hunched over. Her ginger fur was a dark rust. Bloody water from her cleaning her wounds lay in a nearby catalpa, followed by the poisoned rats and birds. "One of Chaosfire's rogues was running from BrightClan. I engaged it when it entered SerenityClan borders. In the moment I was knocked aside and distracted, it killed Willowkit and ran to MoonClan. There is no doubt that MoonClan is now ChaosClan. Jasminestar, we need a Clan Gathering," the medicine cat said emotionlessly. Anger and sadness were evident in the ex-deputy's voice. They needed to talk to the other Clans about this, but was it worth opening up their Clans to attack if Chaosfire decided to use that to her advantage. Perhaps they could sneak away.

Crocuspool pricked up her ears, overhearing what Runningcloud was saying. The tortoiseshell stiffened at the medicine cat's comment about MoonClan. "It's not their fault," she murmured evenly to the two cats. "You know MoonClan. They're so proud; they would not have given up without putting up a good fight." Crocuspool shivered. This was a nightmare. As if they did not already have enough to worry about. There had been an air of danger swilling about for moons now. And several cats were still missing. Hyenapaw, Deathwish... Crocuspool felt as though a chill breeze had frozen over her heart. The warrior stiffly nodded to Jasminestar and Runningcloud, dismissing herself. Crocuspool trotted hurriedly back towards Brindletalon, hazel eyes glazed with sadness. "Oh, it's horrible," she mewed, tail curling around her body.

Runningcloud turned, eyes darkening from her pain. "Yes, I know that, Crocuspool. For that reason, this makes the situation even more grave," she said in a voice that was deathly quiet. She turned away when Crocuspool did the same. Her attention flashed to Jasminestar. The ginger she-cat shook herself and tightly wrapped her paw in cobwebs.
"What do you think?"

Jasminestar opened and closed her mouth without saying a word. It was times like these when she wanted to dissapear from the world and hide in her den. She didn't want to be the one to have to lead Serenityclan into danger. She wished sometimes that she was still deputy. She wouldn't make these decisions herself, only offer options. But she couldn't hide now. No way. Her head drooped for a moment. She was suddenly exhausted. Everything was coming down on her like heavy rain. A headache was coming on, she could feel it. To Runningcloud, she said, I guess I must say something to the clan. Sighing deeply, she leapt on to the High Rock, and let out a ragged call. Every clan member, please come forward. Willowwhisper creapt to high rock, her tail low over the ground as she looked up at her leader. She hated things to go wrong, things were supposed to go smoothly and perfectly all the time, and when it didn't she felt awkward and uncomfortable. She sat, eyes wide and staring, tail curled tightly around her paws as her pelt shook in a shiver. She gulped and waited for her leader to speak.

Clearpool looked at her apprentice and the first smile in quite a long time crossed her lips. 'Lets wait and see what Jasminestar has to say shall we? Then we can begin to organise' she said to her apprentice and sat in her position by the High Rock. Brindletalon looked sadly at Crocuspool. 'I know' was all he said. He slunk to her side and shuffled right up close to her, his pelt brushing hers. This made him feel a little better. He didnt move from his position as Jasminestar called the meeting, he just looked up at her and waited for her to speak.

Runningcloud sighed shakily and came to her broad paws. She turned and departed from her den, greeting the warm sun and cool breeze with an emotionless gaze of green. Her shoulders rolled as she took her place by Jasminestar's side. The ex-deputy felt the need to kill, to avenge...
Pansypaw smiled back at her mentor encouragingly and took her place by the High Rock to listen dutifully to Jasminestar's words. She wanted to be deputy someday, just like Clearpool.

Jasminestar sighed, and straightened her back. Something terrible has happened. While Runningcloud and Willowkit were out looking for herbs, Willowkit was killed. She bowwed her head darkly for a moment. Runningcloud, would you like to tell your account of the incident? Her mournful jade colored eyes grew shiny with tears as she turned to the medicine cat. Runningcloud nodded jerkily and stepped forward. She sighed heavily and swallowed a lump in her throat, opening light-green orbs towards the sky. The wind blew willow fronds left and right, whistling like taunts through from the Tribe of Nightmares. She prayed that their grip had not seized Willowkit.
The ginger and white rolled her broad shoulders and cleared her throat to repeat her story. "A rogue patrol was running from BrightClan's borders, bloodscent fresh. When I confronted them, they made a break for it, trying to attack me in the process. When I was stunned for a moment, they slew Willowkit and ran," Runningcloud explained. "They ran to MoonClan, where I fear Chaosfire has returned..." She ground her claws against the dirt irritably.
She turned to Jasminestar. "Does this mean that something has happened in BrightClan as well? Should we send scouts?" She forgot that she was no longer deputy and dipped her head to Clearpool. "My pardon, Clearpool. I forget myself..."

Clearpool looked warmly at Runningcloud. "Not at all, not at all" she said, shaking her head slowly. She looked up at her leader, face solemn as she waited for the verdict. She twitched her white tail agitatedly, she was noit feeling very calm at the moment. Every muslce tense, she continued to look at Jasminestar.
