"Thank you," he mewed in gratitude. He scraped some feathers off and ripped a small chunk of the bird's meat from it's back, swallowing it ravenously. The feeling of it sliding down his throat and falling into his stomach was so good-he'd not eaten in days. He couldn't help but let out a loud purr.

Petalpaw looked confused at Night Tree. Then, she laughed loudly. Gee, I know the bird tastes good, but not that good. She giggled quietly. She stretched her neck and took a bite of the pigeon. It tasted good, the juices in her mouth. But it tasted like every other pigeon she had had. Looking at Night Tree, she realized why he enjoyed the food so much. She saw his ribs poking through his chest. Her eyes opened wide. She hadn't realized how thin he was. She pushed the pigeon toward Night Tree, her eyes wide. Here, take as much as you want. Night nodded gratefully and took a few more bites. but by the time he'd finished about three fourths of the pigeon, he felt full. "Ah, no more for me-I'm stuffed. Thanks a lot," he mewed. His stomach was very smal, because not only was he young, but his stomach was small from not eating much.

Petalpaw waited patiently for Night Tree to finish. When she had said eat as much as you want, she didn't know that meant more than half the pigeon! He really had been hungry. She felt sorry for him, living the life he had. She couldn't hunt yet, but she had never gone hungry. She had been born late enough that leaf-bare had pretty much left the forest. She hadn't know hunger like he probably had. Purring softly, she scooted closer to him, her white fur againest his blue gray fur. She took another bite of the pigeon, small because not much was left of it. Soon, we'll have fed you and your family enough to eat. Then, you and I can train to become warriors, side by side. You can stay forever, with me. [/blockquote]

"It'll be nice if my family can join your Clan, won't it?" he purred. He really hoped they could. He wanted to not spend every day, living on the edge, hoping he'd survive. But what he cared about more than tht would be staying here forever with Petalpaw. He always felt a twinge of happiness when he looked into her eyes....

Petalpaw nodded, purring. Mhm, that'd be great. She smiled, her blue eyes shining. I hope Jasminestar says yes. She flipped over, her belly towards the sky. The sky was tinted orange from the sunset. A lone cloud drifted in the sky, a pink tint reflecting off of it. She closed her eyes, her purrs sounding out all the other sounds of camp. She could only hear Night Tree's responding purrs, and her heart pounding. [/blockquote]

Night Tree curled up next to Petalpaw, his muzzle close to her cheek. purrs constantly rumbled from his chest, and he couldn't stop them if he tried. He wanted to lie like this forever, breathing in the warm, sweet frngrace of Petalpaw's fur. This feeling...he couldn't tell what it was, but he loved it. This sweet, warm feeling....

Willowkit watched as the cats left camp, leaving her behind without an order or anything. She looked down at the ground and sniffed. She felt ignored and unwanted. Sighing, she looked over at the fresh-kill pile. It was frightfully low and her stomach ached with hunger. She hadn't eaten all that day. She would wait until it was more full so other cats that were more hungry then her could eat. If she had someone to share her prey with then maybe she would eat something. Her eyes wavered over to where Brindletalon stood. He was in charge of camp while both the Leader and Deputy were away. She could ask him what she could do. She began to padd toward him but then she spotted Night Tree, the new cat, and Petalpaw cuddling. She rolled her eyes but kept her focus on Brindletalon. Once she was right in front of him, she looked up.
"Brindletalon?" she mewed, her voice slightly high from no use of it, "Is there anything I could do?"

Brindletalon jumped. He had been thinking so hard he hsdnt even noticed Willowkit come up to him. "Oh erm, I dont think so Willowkit. Wheres Runningcloud? She could give you a few jobs im sure, you being her apprentice and all" he purred, smiling at the kit. He didnt really know Willowkit very well but he liked to be friendly enough to everyone. Willowkit's hollow eyes stared at the ground. It was easy for her to hide her emotion that she felt extremely unwanted and alone in this world. She blinked as Brindletalon jumped out of the corner of her eye and as he spoke, her hollow eyes stayed glued to the ground. She sighed as she said to ask her mentor and nodded. "Of course," she murmured and walked away from the mottled warrior. There was nothing she could do. She would walk into the den to find her sleeping mentor and a pile of herbs that needed to be dusted, or some berries that needed to be sorted. She wanted to do something to help her Clan. Not sort berries. Her eyes wandered back over to where Petalpaw and Night Tree lay.
"Show offs," she growled so no one could hear and then entered the dark den. Runningcloud slept soundly but Willowkit was not tired. She wanted to do something but she wasn't trained to do anything yet so what good would she make? Nothing. Willowkit was a nothing.
