Hyenakit purred with excitement. It was time! At last! The light ginger kit brushed padt Petalkit, his green eyes wide and shimmering. "I know!" he mewed happily. "It won't be long before your apprenticed, too!" Hyenakit grinned with pleasure, showing his small, needle sharp teeth. The tom bounded up to Jasminestar, quivering with anticipation beneath thr snowy she-cat' gaze.
Octoberlies shook his head with amusement. Hyenakit had always been a bundle of impatience and insatiable energy. At first this, and his attitude, had worried Octoberlies, but he had shown himself to be brave and true underneath his arrogant exterior. The grey tabby tom hoped the kit would be a good apprentice; he showed great promise, despite his faults. |

Jasminestar smiled at Hyenakit.
From this day forward,
until you have earned your warrior name,
you will be know as Hyenapaw.
I hope you will train hard to become a warrior,
I do.
She beamed at him before finishing.
Your mentor will be Pastelsky.
I have seen the way you both have bonded.
I trust that you will teach Hyenapaw to become a great warrior,
just as you have become.
She smiled at Pastelsky.

Runningcloud nodded in approval at Hyenapaw. "Congratulations," the large orange tabby she-cat said to Hyenapaw, nodding in rare-given praise.
Her sad-looking eyes lifted along with her long tail. She turned her head to gaze at Jasminestar: the scar on her left eye made her sight blurry at times. The large tabby warrior sat by Petalkit, dwarfing the little cat. Runningcloud didn't even realize it until she looked down and saw that she was towering over Petalkit like an advancing badger! The warrior hastily backed up, smiling apologetically. "Hello there, Petalkit. Sorry 'bout that," she said before gently joining in the chant. "Hyenapaw!"

Brindlepaw touched his nose to Pastelskys cheek. "Well done! Your first apprentice!" he purred, smiling at his friend and Hyenapaw. Then he realized he should have started chanting by now. "Hyenapaw, Hyenapaw!" he called out loudly, his excitement making him even louder than usual. Yes! It would be his turn soon! [/center][/color] |

Petalkit suddenly looked up.
She let out a small squeal.
Oh, it's you, Runningcloud!
Grooming herself, she began to call out Hyenapaw's name.

"Heyenapaw, Heyenapaw! The gray tom called out, congratulating both Pastelsky and the new apprentice. Mousepaw grinned at Brindlepaw and felt his breathing tighten in exitement. He looked over at Pastelsky and tried to make his smile look confident and bold, but managed only a feeble upturning of now nervous lips. He was so excited he didn't think he could bear it another second, but he managed to focus on Jasminestar. He tried to ignore the jealousy burning in his stomach. Heyanapaw was just Pastelsky's apprentice, nothing more. He could still be important to her, couldn't he? But he hadn't even told her how he felt, so he didn't have the right to be jealous, right?

Pastelsky felt her heart leap as she heard her name. A mentor? Her? Feeling her paws shake, she padded up to touch noses with Hyenapaw. "I'll try as best as I can," she whispered into his ear. As she badded back to her place beside Snowflake, she smiled at Mousepaw. Her own apprentice! She would be busy with the happy little apprentice, but she felt she would enjoy it.

Hyenapaw's eyes lit up. The light ginger tom dipped his head, before scampering happily over to Pastelsky. He took in the she-cat's appearance, her slight frame and athletic stance, and his eyes shimmered with awe. "Me too!" Hyenapaw insisted, touching his nose to his new mentor's. He sat beside her, tail tip twitching. Octoberlies watched his wayward kin, and purred. No cat knew Hyenapaw was his son except Octoberlies himself. He was glad that Pastelsky had been chosen. He knew she would treat him well. "Hyenapaw, Hyenapaw!" he chanted. Cherrysmoke joined in the chanting, glad SerenityClan was finlly getting stronger again. |

They would sleep side by side tonight, in the warriors' den, just like before. "Not long now," he mewed, looking at Mousepaw. The tom looked as excited as Brindlepaw. |

Jasminestar now looked away from Hyenapaw.
Now it's time for the warrior ceremonies.
Mousepaw and Brindlepaw, please come forward.
When they came forward, she began.
Mousepaw, you have trained hard to become a warrior.
Ever since you were named an apprentice,
You studied hard with your mentor to become stronger, faster.
And now I am proud to give you your warrior name.
Your new name is Mouseclaw.
I welcome you as a warrior to Serenityclan.
She smiled and nodded to Brindlepaw.
Brindlepaw, you have trained hard to become a warrior.
Since you became an apprentice,
you have trained with your mentor to learn to fight and to hunt.
And now I am proud to give you your warrior name.
You new name is Brindletalon.
I welcome you as a warrior to Serenityclan.
Petalkit jumped up and down.
Mouseclaw, Brindletalon!
She nudged Hyenapaw excitedly.
I can't wait to become a warrior like them!

Mouseclaw grinned widely and stepped foward, his ears pricked and his tail high. Mouseclaw! That was his new name. Tonight he would sleep side by side with his friends, just like before. Brindletalon looked happy, too, and Mousepaw chanted his name along with the Clan. "Brindletalon, Brindletalon!" He called, flicking him with his tail in congratulations.

Runningcloud smiled and nodded her head over to Mouseclaw. "You're going out on a hunting patrol with me first thing tomorrow, Mouseclaw! Let's see if we can really see if you're a warrior!" the large she-cat called out, her lip curled in a laughing smile. "You too, Brindletalon. I won't have you two get lazy since you're no longer apprentices!" The orange tabby roared in laughter and then added to the yells of "Brindletalon! Mouseclaw!"

Octoberlies purred deep in his throat. His friends were warriors! It could be all four of them, just like the old days. Except it wasn't Octoberpaw, Pastelpaw, Mousepaw and Brindlepaw - it was Octoberlies, Pastelsky, Mouseclaw and Brindletalon! Octoberlies pressd his nose into Brindletalon's spotted cheek. "Congratulations, Brindletalon!" He brushed against Mouseclaw, smiling. "Well done." The grey tabby tipped back his head and joined in the chanting. "Brindletalon, Mouseclaw! Brindletalon, Mouseclaw!"
Hyenapaw bounced over to Petalkit, green eyes huge. "Brindletalon! Mouseclaw!" he called, ginger fur fluffed out with excitement. He couldn't wait for that to be him. He grinned wolfishly at Petalkit. "I can't wait until your an apprentice, too. Then I can beat you again!" He wriggled his haunches playfully at the white kit, his eyes shimmering. |

Nu uh! I'm gonna beat you!
She pretended to pounce on him, and began to giggle.
The, she poked Hyenapaw in the flank, and darted away
and accidentally ran into Octoberlies.
Oh, sorry, Octoberlies!
Giving him an apolegetic look, she ran back toward Hyenapaw
with an embrassed face.
But her head rose when she thought of what was coming next.
Isn't Jasminestar gonna announce the new medicine cat and deputy now?

Padding over from the dens, a blue-eyed tortoiseshell sat herself in the crowd, gazing impatiently up at the new leader, Jasminestar. Wait, I need to be an apprentice, too! The kitten's clear blue eyes gleamed with impatience. Why should I have to wait? I've waited six moons, just like the rest of these kits! She decided to keep her mouth shut, though, and wait like everyone else had too. It might lead to trouble if she didn't.

Hyenapaw poked his tongue out at his friend. The light ginger apprentice noticed Shorepaw and padded up to her, green eyes bright. "Hi, there," he mewed, waving his tail in greeting. He wanted to get to know his denmates. He hoped the she-cat would be friendly back; he didn't know her at all. Octoberlies jumped as Petalkit cannoned into his side. The grey tabby shook his muzzle. "Be careful," he purred, eyes glimmering with amusement. Octoberlies turned. Hey! Hd he just seen eyes glittering from the shadows? No, it couldn't be eyes. He was just being silly. |

Shorepaw smiled at the young tom who approached her. He was the same age as her, she guessed, since he had just become an apprentice himself. She meowed in a tone that matched his friendly exchange, Heya. You're.. Hyenapaw.. right? The tortoiseshell femme eyed him up and down, her tail tip twitching restlessly as she did so. Almost always was Shorepaw restless. It was hard to contain it, especially now.

Mouseclaw thanked Octoberlies and Pastelsky, brushing pelts with the pretty she-cat and sitting next to her, his eyes filled with undying joy. He looked back at Runningcloud and grinned. "I can't wait!"

Brindletalon gasped with pleasure. He smiled so widely he thought his jaw would fall off from the ache. "Mouseclaw, Mouseclaw!" he chanted, returning the flick to Mouseclaws shoulder. Brindletalon turned to face Octoberlies and touched noses with him. "We'll all be together again!" he said joyfully, flicking the end of his tail to Pastelsky and Mouseclaw. But now they were warriors. He smiled at Runningcloud and added to Mouseclaws comment "Hope you arent upset when we catch more than you!" whilst laughing loudly. He was so happy, surely nothing could dampen his spirits now. [/center][/color] |

Hyenapaw dipped his head in a slight nod. "Yeah. That's me," he mewed. The light ginger tom looked over at Octoberlies. The grey tabby warrior looked troubled. "I wonder what tweaked his tail?" he mewed, half to himself. Turning back to face Shorepaw, Hyenapaw smiled at the young tortoiseshell. He tried to forget Octoberlies' uneasy expression; it seemed unimportant to him.
Octoberlies narrowed his eyes, they're cerulean depths clouded with uncertainty. The lean warrior turned, noticing that Runningcloud had followed his gaze, and now looked as confused as he felt. "Did you see them?" he mewed to the big ginger tabby, voice hushed. "Did you see what I saw?" |

Snowflake looked at the warriors, proud that there were so many warriors and apprentices. She followed Octoberlies's gaze, and she noticed two shining orbs.
The orbs blinked. Teeth glinted. She sat in the shadows and waited. This leader shall soon be finished, and she will strike. She will bring down this clan, and command them all...

Shorepaw, too, noticed the uneasy look in some of the warriors' faces, but she wasn't sure what it was about. Turning back to Hyenapaw, her smile and tone matched his. Heh. I'm Shorepaw. I should be getting my mentor soon.. Here she gave him a smirk to emphasize her impatience.
