As the sun peaked over the horizon, its golden-orange rays quickly gleamed upon the camp of SerenityClan. Jade green eyes sparkled, resembling dew on grass on a new-leaf morning. The she-cat blinked repeatedly as her eyes slowly adjusted to the sudden light pouring into her den. She got up on her paws, and remembered that this should be the day for yet another warrior ceremony.
She bounded across the clearing, tripping over her large feet and hoping no one noticed her random clumsiness. She stopped, gathered herself, and jumped upon the rock.
May all cats able to catch their own prey, meet beneath high rock!
Her yowl echoed through out the clearing, and she just wanted to get this ceremony over with. She could tell from the start that today was going to be a long, exhausting day. Sometimes, she just had days where she was dragging herself along from being tired, and others she had more energy. Today, she had none. |

Octoberpaw padded from the apprentices' den, looking slightly guilty as he remembered how he had tried to visit Butterflypaw a few days ago. He padded over to the High Rock and sat down, his tail curled about his paws.
Cherrysmoke dragged herself from the nursery, and sat by herself, head down. She looked thin and gaunt. |

Pastelsky treaded gently into camp, her celedon green eyes sparkling. She had only just been made a warrior. Her dusk-brown pelt glimmered in the light, and her limbs were long and gentle as she sat beside Octoberpaw. [/center] |

[bic;] Cherrysmoke looked at Snowflake. "Fine." Her voice was stiff, and as she spoke her blue-green eyes filled with tears at the memory of her beloved mate, snatched away from her so cruelly. She turned away from Snowflake, feeling awkward after their disagreement.
Octoberpaw turned to smile at Pastelsky; he was the same age as the she-cat, but did not seem to mind she had been made a warrior before him. |

Brindlepaw made his way out of the apprentices den and over to Octoberpaw. He pushed his muzzle into the young toms cheek and settled down beside him. He looked at him knowingly and asked "Whats wrong?"

Octoberpaw jumped as he felt a light touch on his cheek, but the scent of his denmate reassured him. "I'm fine," the tabby mewed. "There's nothing wrong." |

Jasmineflower ran from the warriors den. As she passed by Cherrysmoke, she gave her a small glance. She wondered how Cherrysmoke was feeling. Sad and devestated, probably. But how would she know? She just shook her head at her own thoughts and sat beneath Reflectstar.
Petalkit stumbled out of the nursery and ran toward her mother. She had been spending a lot of time with Cherrysmoke ever since her father had died. She could feel her mother's sadness coming from her all the time. In fact, she had been spending so much time with her mother, she hadn't seen her siblings in about a day or two.
She sat on her mother's paws and looked up at her with a solemn gaze.
May I watch the ceremony with you, Mother?
Petalkit's vocabulary had grown a bit in the past days. She thought that 'Mother' sounded better than 'Mama'. [/size] |

Cherrysmoke turned to face her daughter, this time her eyes holding no confusion as she peered at the little white kit. She pulled Petalkit closer to her body. "Yes." |

Petalkit smiled and cuddled into her mother's fur. Though she was only a kit, she still could tell that Cherrysmoke was hiding something. But she decided it wouldn't be best to bring it up, so she stayed quiet and watched Reflectstar. [/size] |

Reflectstar noticed that the cats of SerenityClan gathered around quickly. Quicker than usual. She let out a small chuckle as she decided to begin the ceremony. Octoberpaw, you have done an exceptional job as an apprentice, following all given orders. I know StarClan will approve of my choice. A long pause followed.
She made one last scan over the gathered cats below her before continuing on. May StarClan look down upon you, and now recognize you as Octoberlies.

Cherrysmoke caught Deathwish's eye and looked at her paws. At Snowflake's words, the red-brown queen suddenly looked up at the white warrior, her blue-green eyes brimming with tears. "I'm sorry."
Octoberlies smiled in pride and disbelief, dipping his head in thanks. Only when he had joined the rest of the warriors, sitting a little way away from Snowflake, did a nasty thought occur to him. Octoberlies. Had Reflectstar guessed that he had a secret...? |

Not that she would be getting one too soon, but it was better to live as a warrior and enjoy it. Octoberlies would be respected in the Clan, no doubt about it.

Snowflake began to chant the warrior's name, but trailed off when she saw the queen's tears. "Oh Cherrysmoke," she began, but trailed off. Anything she said would probably make Cherrysmoke mad at her.

[bic;] "I'm okay..." Cherrysmoke mewed, but each word sounded vjoked out. The queen pretended to be grooming Petalkit's head a moment, before raising her own and calling quietly; "Octoberlies, Octoberlies!" She then ducked her head and fell silent again.
Octoberlies smiled slightly as the rest of SerenityClan called out his new name. But every time they called it, the different voices, young and old - it sounded like a warning; a warning that Reflectstar had discovered his secret. October lies... October lies... Lies. |
