Mousekit jumped as Pecankit ran out. Then she realized why. Badger! she screamed inside her head. She saw red. The images of her mother and her sisters mauled body took over her for a few seconds but Pecankits sobbing brought her back down to earth with a bump. She ran outside and looked in disbelief as she saw her siblings within killing reach of the badger! Sage was even playing with it! "Mummy! Daddy! Help its a b..b.b..badger!!!" she screamed, frozen to the spot in terror before skidding over to Pecankit and cuddling into her, shaking violently with fear. [/center][/color] |

Pecankit stumbled blindly away from her sister, then, recognizing her warm scent, pressed against her. Her wide blue eyes were pools of terror. Still tears poured from her eyes. She was convinced Hollow was dangerous.
Runespell pricked up his ears. With a hiss he darted over to his daughters, standing over them. His expression lightened when he saw Hollow and Sage playing. "Aurora," he mewed, dipping his head. "Is this Hollow?" |

Mousekit cowered under her fathers comforting form. She watched Hollow carefully. "Sages brother." she whispered queitly to herself. She licked the tears off of her sisters face. "Daddy, who is he? Hes scary and he might hurt Hazelkit and Ryekit and Grainkit." she said quietly, looking up at her father. [/center][/color] |

Leopardflight skidded out of the warriors den at Mousekit's wail. 'What is it Mousekit?' she asked, licking the little kit's head to settle her. Then the spotted she-cat smelled badger. She turned, and saw her other kits and Sage with the she-cat and a... badger? She padded quickly up to them. 'Aurora, do you really think it was a good idea to bring an enemy to cats into this camp?' she hissed quietly so only she could hear. 'For StarClan's sake, Mousekit's family was killed by a badger!' Her tail lashed, and she looked around for her mate.
Ooc: Haha last night I looked at all the old posts of Rune and Leopard falling in love, xD I had almost forgotten that he was blind in one eye! |

Mousekit looked up gratefully at her mother. She watched her go over to the she-cat that had arrived with the badger and speak to her. Unblinkingly she watched, still licking Pecankit slowly and steadily. [/center][/color] |

Pansyleaf didn't hear anything the others said. She just felt herself turn towards Runespell, her eyes glazed. "Runespell. Your father sent me- its- its- well-" She couldn't bring herself to say it. But she had to. Stormprowler needed him there. "Its Kestralfeather.
She's died." She choked back a sob, her eyes tearing now.
Ryekit touched noses with Pecankit, and gave her a lick. "Its okay, really. He's super nice. I'm okay, aren't I? Come meet him!" He mewed, flicking Mousekit with his tail in comforting geusture.

"Don't!" wailed Pecankit, pressing closer to Mousekit. She shivered in fright. "I don't want to. I don't have to. Do I?" The tabby kit sobbed, crouching lower. Runespell opened his mouth to reply to Leopardflight, but his eyes swung to Pansyleaf as she spoke. No.. No! It couldn't be! Greif swept over him. No, no, not Kestrelfeather, not his mother... He turned and buried his muzzle in Leopardflight's shoulder in sorrow. |

Aurora looked down at Hollow and then at the cats. "As I said before, he may be a badger, but he is a little one. Your clan could subdue him without major injury," she said sternly. Hollow cooed and rubbed against her comfortingly before sitting on his rump. He was almost as big as she was. "Runespell, Leopardflight, I assure you that if Hollow hurt anyone of your brethren, I...will kill him myself," Aurora added out of the cub's earshot. She turned to Runespell. "I saw your mother and gave my condolences. I came here to ask if Sage had become one of you yet."
Sage glanced at Pecankit and Mousekit sympathetically. "He won't hurt you. If anything, if you get to know him, you'll know the tricks of fighting a bad badger. When Hollow gets older, he said that he'll spar with me so I know how to fight a mean one!," he said and then looked at Grainkit and Ryekit. "C'mon, Ryekit, if you had the chance to know how to fight a big badger, wouldn't you do it? At least you'd know their weaknesses and be able to save your clan if you were attacked by them! Plus, if the other clans are scared of Hollow, wouldn't that make them less likely to attack you?"[/sup][/color]

Kestralfeather... it couldn't be. Leopardflight made a sympathetic noise as her mate buried his muzzle in her fur. 'Come on, let's go and find her one last time, shall we?' she asked in a soothing voice, as she would speak to one of her kits. |

Grainkit looked up at his father sadly. "What happened, Papa?" he asked quietly. "Who died?" Looking over at Hollow, he shivered. Yes, the badger was scary. But what about a big one? He wanted to protect the Clan, more than anything. "Sage?" he mewed quietly, backing towards his sisters. "I'd like to learn."

Pecankit quivered. "You talk like he's part of the clan," she whimpered to Sage. Runespell felt a second wave of sorrow crash over him. He heard his son speak, and turned to face the light tabby kit. "I'll tell you... later," he assured Grainkit, licking him between the ears. Blinking back tears, he nodded at Pansyleaf. "Okay." |

Mousekit scowled at Ryekit. "No. you dont have to do anything." she mewed soothingly to her sister. She watched her parents in confusion. They looked so sad. Then she heard the word. Died. She began shaking again. She watched as her parents made as if to go somewhere. "Mummy? Daddy? Where are you going?!" she wailed, wanting to rush over but she wouldnt leave Pecankit. The very thought of her parents leaving all of their children alone with a badger made Mousekits skin crawl. Surely they would get sent inside? [/center][/color] |

Aurora nodded to Leopardflight, Runespell, and the other she-cat warrior as they passed. "May Ancestors watch over her spirit," she intoned wisely, head bent in reverence. Her black tail twitched and her paw covered her black and white masked face.
"He's close enough!" he yowled indignantly, but Sage breathed a sigh of relief at Grainkit's response. At least there was at least someone willing to accept Hollow, at least a little bit. He turned to Aurora. "Momma, when can Hollow start training? Remember you said he had to learn how to gather berries and stuff, maybe some raccoons for us." Aurora shook her head in uncertainty.[/sup][/color]

Grainkit blinked at his father's response. "But Papa, why not now?" he asked, his blue eyes wide. He glanced at Mousekit. As soon as Hollow could help him train... It would be fun, and a way to pass the time. But as he remembered Mousekit's story, he began to feel unsure. Hollow wouldn't... Right?

Runespell shook his head at Grainkit and Mousekit. "You'll find out soon enough." He disappeared into the trees with Pansyleaf and Leopardflight, his tail curled miserably with his mate's. Pecankit bristled. "Who made you clan leader?" she challenged Sage. "Sorrowstar won't approve of this." The kit huddled down again. |

Hollow let out a snarl at Pecankit, a warning to take back her comments. "Stand down, Hollow," Aurora hissed, slamming her paw on the badger's nose. He yelped and rubbed it, withdrawing to be behind a patch of ferns with a sniffle.
Sage glanced at his brother, knowing Pecankit was just a kit. "She didn't mean to be rude, Hollow. She's still young," he said, patting the badger's head. The cub cooed and rubbed his nose against Sage's, but he still hid amongst the plants. The nose was a badger's weak spot.[/sup][/color]

Pecankit squealed in fright as Hollow snarled, darting away from the group. She unconsciously followed her father and mother's scent trail, desoerate to get away from the terrifying sight of the angry badger. he did not stay long enough to hear Aurora;s rebuke. |

"Pecankit! Come back!" Mousekit shouted after her sister. She sprang to her paws and shot after her, weaving between the bushes and trees. She finally caught up with her sister. "Where are you going? Aurora sighed and looked down at Sage and Hollow before glancing over at Ryekit and Grainkit. "You two should go back to camp. Hollow, Sage, and I need to go for a walk...," she said kindly, nodding her head as she padded off, young tom and badger cub in tow. "Hollow, I'm very disappointed in you," Aurora said sternly once the two had gotten out of earshot of Ryekit and Grainkit. The cub looked down guiltily and gloomily dragged his claws in front of Sage. They were by a human road.
"He didn't mean to, Mother, you know--," Sage began, padding along on the asphalt. "Sage!" Aurora yelled. The roar of a human thing Jinx had called a truck bore down upon the young tom. Hollow was frozen and could only stare. His mind wanted him to jump without thinking and tossed Sage headfirst into Aurora, but his body wouldn't move. There was a mighty thump and the thing continued on, leaving Sage there like human rubbish. "Oh Ancestors... Sage!" Aurora screamed, bounding out to the road to drag off the crumpled cat. "Mother...?" the young tom whispered softly and then his head lolled to the side, blood dripping from his ears. It was too late to call the Clan Medicine Cat.
Aurora let out a thunderous yowl and turned to Hollow. "Ignore anyone until you get to Ryekit and Grainkit. I don't care if you have to fight the entire clan, I want you to bring those kits." Hollow nodded and forced his body to move. Tears sprang to his eyes and he bleated like a lost fawn. "Ryekit! Grainkit!" he cried out, tripping over himself at some point.

Ryekit jumped when he heard his name, and leaped back next to Grainkit with bristling fur and wide amber eyes. The voice was strange, low and rough and scary. He felt his heart jump to his throat, but then he saw Hollow and relaxed slightly. He stepped foward hesitantly and tried to meow as adult-like as he could. "What is it, Hollow?"[/size][/font]

Hollow flipped head-over-heels when he finally reached the two kits. "Mother sent me. She needs your help. Brother's been run over by a monster!!" he yelled, his voice harsh and barking even though he didn't for it to be. "And I know you're not supposed to leave camp without your parents, but this is important!!" Tears matted the cub's black and white wiry fur. The badger looked up at the kits, sad but proud.
"Mother told me...to fight your entire Clan if that's what it took to get the two of you here. She needs you."

Grainkit gasped, hearing his name and seeing the small badger flip over himself right in front of him. "Sage?" he gasped, blue eyes wide. "We've got to go help...!" his heartbeat sped as he remembered the kind-spoken tom. Brushing pelts with Ryekit, he bounded ahead of Hollow and out of camp. Where are Sage and Aurora...? he asked himself franticly. He didn't want to see Sage's condition... but something kept him sniffing for a trail of some kind. [/center][/color] |

Ryekit didn't gasp, he only sped after behind his brother, anxious. Sage. Sage run over by a monster? No, it couldn't be. He was just an apprentice! Ryekit blinked tears away and sped faster, still in shock but ready to do what he could to save his newfound friend. He was gasping for breath, but he didn't care.

Hollow dashed after them in the characteristic lope of a badger. "Here, I'll lead the way!" he called, sticking his snout under Ryekit and Grainkit to flip them onto his back. "Hold on!" Surprisingly for his bulk, the badger was rather fast. He turned his head with a weak smile. "Sorry if I smell like foxdung like your sister said. Where is she anyway?" Hollow sprinted forward, galvanized by his loss instead of heartbroken. He was no longer clumsy like he was before and he followed his path of broken sticks and scuffmarks from his claws. The cub halted when he smelled the Thunderpath. "Over here," he said.
"Hollow!? Oh thank Ancestors you aren't hurt. Grainkit, Ryekit, thanks for coming," Aurora cried out, totally uncharacteristic of what she was before. The black and white she-cat closed her scarred eyes and looked away, revealing the crumpled tabby tom by her side. Hollow let Grainkit and Ryekit off his back before shuffling over to Aurora. "Grainkit, Ryekit...do you think...It'll be okay to take...Sage's place in your clan? He didn't have much time there and I would like to ask your Medicine Cat about my dream," the large she-cat asked courteously. She glanced over at Hollow. "We might have to find a burrow for you out here. The Clan cats would feel uncomfortable." Hollow nodded in understanding.[/sup][/color]

((Blackeh, Kuri-chan, so to have Aurora meet up with the kits at Jay's Hollow, I posted that she buried Sage and then had Ryekit and Grainkit been taken back to BrightClan by Hollow. They bathed to get rid of the badger scent and then entered. I put that she had left after they had, and that Hollow lives in a burrow in BrightClan territory))
