Delirium & Oleander
Deliriumstep and Oleanderpaw padded through the tall reeds. The pair wove back and forth through them, the latter following the former dutifully. Oleanderpaw paused as the warrior in front of him stopped and looked around hungrily. Her mouth opened to catch the scent of mouse. She crouched low, curling her tail around her black-furred body.
Deliriumstep stared at the cat-tails, her eyes dancing. Her sleek fur blended in with the dark stems surrounding them, and she smiled to herself as she waited. Her tail flicked, telling Oleanderpaw to kept close to Heavenwing as she stalked her prey. He watched with interest as he saw Deliriumstep eyeballing the field mouse. She lunged and swiftly killed it with a swift pounce and nip to the neck. She picked up the field mouse to show to Oleanderpaw, who nodded in understanding. He would go hunting by himself for a minute or so while Heavenwing and Deliriumstep gave him tips. The black she-cat turned to the other. "Have you talked to Stormstar lately. I heard Barrenpaw squalling that he would be leader's apprentice and I didn't know if you were getting one too," she whispered.

A white figure swayed with each movement forward, delicate feet barely touching the ground. No, this was not her hunter's walk; Heavenwing naturally did this. She stopped as Deriliumstep and Oleanderpaw did, congratulating the warrior for her catch with a flick of the ears. When she asked her about mentoring, she nodded and responded, Yes. I believe he said I was to receive Oleanderpaw as an apprentice. She spoke softly, her elegant voice quiet enough for no prey to be scared, but loud enough for her to speak to her Clanmate.[/sup]

Deliriumstep smiled in silent congratulations. "He's a good apprentice. I'm sure you'll just need to clean up some skills, assess him, and then present him to Stormstar," the she-cat said, twitching her black tail towards the hunting young tom. She sat on her belly for a moment, nosing her fresh-kill before burying it.
Oleanderpaw soon came back with two dead mice hanging in his mouth by their tails. He smiled politely at Heavenwing and laid them atop Deliriumstep's pile. "It is your turn, Heavenwing," he said formally.

Heavenwing nodded to Deriliumstep, then to Oleanderpaw. She stepped out of the group and into the clearing that was surrounded by bushes and trees and other places for prey to hide. The white she-cat paused and opened her jaws to scent the air. Her periwinkle eyes closed, her mind falling into a mode of complete concentration. Bushes...trees...the stale scents of cats, and those that were strong of herself and the other cats with her...and a mouse! Opening her eyes, she spotted a mouse shuffling among the bottom of a bush. She dropped into a hunter's crouch, slowing creeping forward, barely making any noise as her petite paws touched the earth.
She sprung, landing with the mouse below her belly. The mouse was stunned for a moment from shock, lucky for Heavenwing, as she looked around for it, not realizing she'd landed over it. She noticed it right when it recovered. It was about to recover, but too late. The she-cat heaved herself downwards, suffocating the creature beneath her. She got off of it, it was still alive, but again, recovering. She backed up and threw it in the air, catching it with her teeth at its neck.
Heavenwing carried it back to them in her jaws, humor and embarrassment mixed in her eyes. She dropped it and looked up, a slight chuckle releasing from her. "I suppose I get the award for the most weird and complicated way to catch fresh-kill?

Deliriumstep would have roared out laughing were it any other place. The CloudClan warrioress grinned owlishly, twitching her tail in laughter. "My grandmother couldn't have done it better," the she-cat smiled. The black she-cat came to her limber paws and dipped her tail. "I'll be back."
Oleanderpaw blinked in amazement at Heavenwing's way of catching prey and tried imitating it himself for a couple times but didn't get it. "I think only you can get it, Heavenwing," Oleanderpaw said sheepishly, trying to hold back his laughter at the older warrior. He didn't want to seem rude or condescending.

Heavenwing smiled. "It's okay, you can laugh. I didn't even mean to catch it like that. I didn't aim my jump right." She tried to hold it in, but she couldn't. She let out a burst of laughter, and let it die down until it existed no longer. Yes, even she, the quiet one, could find things funny enough to let what was hidden behind her solitude out.[/sup]

Oleanderpaw broke out into a gentle grin. He respected the fact that Heavenwing admitted when she was wrong instead of playing it off on something else. The brown tom's heart warmed towards the older she-cat.
Deliriumstep laughed and picked up the mice in her maw. "We better hurry back. We don't want to miss Stormstar's Clan Gathering if he's getting one," the black she-cat said, smiling at her friends.

[err, I haven't got mentor yet. I need to work on that. I may have to make Deriliumstep a mentor... I dunno. I might not be able to apprentice those kits yet....]
