Breezestealth and her brother Galeforce slipped through the tall reeds. The pair weaving back and forth through them and criss crossing their paths. Breezestealth paused as her brother stopped dead andlooked around. His mouth hung open and his eyes danced with the light of hunting. He crouched low and watched a patch of reeds just in front of him.
Galeforce stared at the green reeds his eyes dancing and waited. His thick fur blended in with the surroundings and he smiled to himself as he waited. He could see his sister out of the Corner of his eye knew she wouldn't move until he did. That was how they worked. Together. He watched and saw a little pink nose stick through the reeds and in a moment the whole body of a mouse poked trhough. Helept and killed it with a swift bite to the neck. He looked at his sister before scratching dirt over the mouse and continueing their trek. "Good catch" he heard from Breezestealth and he nodded his thanks.

The sun dappled the brittle reeds as Sunjinx silently made her way through them. Her ginger and white pelt caught the sun and shimmered, but her green eyes were fixed on something else. A squirrel, having just scampered down from a tall, sun bleached poplar, was crouched on the thin roots, eating a seed. The she-cat stalked the creature carefully, her body filled with the ease of practice. She pounced, unbalancing the squirrel with a paw swipe. She pinned the creature with the other ginger paw, and sank in her fangs. It was over in a second. She scraped dirt over her catch, then padded back to join Galeforce and Breezestealth. She had taken to filling up her day with hunting and border patrols to take her mind off of the disappearance of her mate. |

Galeforce watched Sunjinx and smiled. "Good catch." He mewed after she padded back to them. His attention was drawn away as his sister lashed her tail slapping him."What was that for mouse brain!" he said and batted at her ear lightly with his white paw.
Breezestealth doged the blow eaaily and batter his shoulder. "You made me miss my prey!" She said and paused turning. "Now hush!" She hissed at him and slipped away into the reeds. Her body moved like the brezze bearly rustleing the reeds. She spotted her prey and lept. The brown body of the bird was killed under her small paw and she smiled bitting it's neck to make sure. She carried it back and scratched dirt over the thrush placeing it besideher brothers mouse. "There much better."

She hated this. Patrolling with two young, argumentative siblings. Yet her false smiles and quick catches seemed to be covering up her discomfort. Sighing, the ginger and white she-cat opened her mouth to taste the breeze as it sang by, drifting in to whisper the songs of the world in her ears. She sensed a woodpecker, high up in a tree with his young, a jay further down the tree.. Within pouncing distance. Flicking her ears for silence, Sunjinc crept through the reeds, her emerald eyes fixed upwards. She soon spotted the sapphire breasted bird. Leaping from beneath it, she shot out a paw. The branch wobbled, unbalancing the bird. It squeaked in fear as Sunjnx's claws sank into its side. She dragged it down, killing it hastily. The she-cat carried it back and buried it with her squirrel. She sighed. This was becoming so repetitive now. |

Breezestealth watched the older warrior and smiled. She had caught the fake smile...she'd always been good at catching the fakers. "I don't think she likes us much Galeforce..." She mewed but her attention was drawn away from the she-catand her brother. She turned and parted her jaws drawing the breeze in over her scent glands. Woodpecker...young...To high...vole... She thought to herself and slinked away. She emerged with two voles dangling from her jaws.
Galeforce smiled at his sister and shook his head. He was about to reply when she slipped away like a breeze. He looked around also tasteing the air. He suddenly raced toward a tree just a few tail lengths away his paws bearly makeing a sound and his body weaving through the reeds like a gale. He lept streaming through the air and landed on a squirrel. he killed it before it could make a sound and brought it back to the small group and burried it with his mouse.

Sunjinx pricked up her ears and shook her head. Ah, solitude had never got her very far. She wondered what her daughter was doing at this moment. Hunting, probably, with Cloakedclaw. She was glad that Ribbontail had chosen such a fine young tom for a mate; there were far too many young tearaways in CloudClan. Sunjinx smiled and twitche her whiskers. She was beginning to sound like her own mother, Leopardstorm. She sighed in greif. If only the pretty tortoiseshell had still been alive. She let out a purr of amusement. Who was she to accuse the youngsters of CloudClan? She, and Ribbontail too, had all been fesity, spunky little she-cats. Ribbontail in particilar had had no respect whatsoever. She remembered her slashing the face of her father when he had 'reappeared'. Sunjinx felt the familiar numb feeling sweep over her as she thought of Silverflame. No. She focused on her hunting again. She caught the scent of a vole.. No, Breezestealth was after it. Galeforce had the squirrel. Ah. Mouse. That was good. The she-cat stalked the creature paw by paw. She caught sight of its dull, brown flecked fur. Scooping up the creature, she caught it in her jaws and bit down hard. Padding back to her stash, she buried the mouse with the squirrel and jay. She looked up, flicking the tip of her tail. "We should patrol the border," she commented. |

Breezestealth nodded and flicked her whiskers in thought. We can't leave the prey here...something will take it... She thought and spoke softly to the she-cat and her brother. "Let's take the prey back to camp...then patrol the border." She said and glanced at her brother.
Glaeforce looked at Sunjinx and flicked his ears toward her and tilted his head. "Sounds good to me...what about you Sunjinx?" He asked the older warrior showing respect for her age and experience. He flicked his long silver, black and orange tail waiting for an answer. His eyes danced waiting to hear what the she-cat would say.

Sunjinx flicked her tail in assent. A young cat with some sense. The ginger and white she-cat unearthed her fresh kill and rolled it out onto the grass. She picked up the jay by one spindly leg and the mouse by its tail. Unable to pick up the squirrel, she rolled it along the ground until she stood beside Galeforce and Breezestealth. She dropped the mouse and jay and spoke. "One of you take this." She pushed the squirrel with her paw. The creature's dark, fiery ginger fur picked up a blanket of dust as it rolled like a rag doll along the sandy earth. Sunjinx picked up her fresh kill again and waited for the two to unearth and carry their on prey. She looked up at the fat, wooly white clouds as they glided peacefully across the soft, light blue sky. Such a lovely, beautiful day. Unble to sigh with her mouthful of jay and mouse, Sunjinx stayed silent. Her green eyes filled with the clouded, vacant look that they usaully carried these days. Time ticked on, whatever happened. She knew it was so. Silverflame's disappearance meant nothing, absolutely nothing to the constantly shifting world. |

Galeforce bent and lifted the squirrel by it's tail and grabbed his own before grabbing his mmouse by the tail and walking up to stand beside Sunjinx. He smiled to himself and hd he not had a mouthful of prey...he would have spoken...said something to her about Silverflame...But as it was...He couldn't so he just stared at the clouds with her.
Breezestealth grabbed her thrush by the leg and her vole by the short tail. She flicked ehr tial and stood on the other side of the older warrior. Breezestealth had been askedto lead the patrol so she looked up at the sky and smiled. What a beautiful day... She thought and glanced at the others before flicking her tail and trotting toward camp to deposite their prey.

Sunjinx trotted steadily behind, her prey swinging from her jaws. The day was fine, indeed. The ginger and white she-cat blinked as a fly hovered near her lashes. She swatted at the aerial insect with a paw, sending it reeling. Sunjinx padded behind Breezestealth, next to Galeforce. Silverflame would have been so proud to see his daughter become a warrior. His child, his angel. Sunjinx clenched her teeth harder on the prey, feeling the mouse's tail give a bit. She shook her head, setting the fresh kill jangling. Sunjinx rolled her eyes. Silverflam haunted every thought, just like when he wandered off before, when she had been pregnant. He hadn't even known three of his kits; hey had died of Greencough. She had lost so much, but she still had her Ribbontail. That was all she needed. As long as she had her last daughter to hang on to, she would suvive this ordeal. |

Galeforce padded beside her keeping his distance but his eyes kept drifting to the she-cat. He was worried for her...what had Silverflame done? Why would he contine to wonder off like this. Couldn't he see what itdid to Sunjinx. He shook his head and sighed around the mouthfull of prey and watched her letting his gaze dance between following his sister and Sunjinx. He watched her bite into the mousetail and worried it would fall but she noticed as well and keptit in check.
Breezestealth slipped through the reeds and out into the open. Were almost there...then Sunjinx can lead our patrol...no more leading for me...thank starclan... She thought quickly. Worrieing was her specialty...worreing what people thought worrieing what she should do worrieing about her brother...her brother. She glanced behind her and spotted him glancing at Sunjinx. Watch it brother....she has a mate... She thought and brought her attention back to the things in front of her.

Sunjinx felt Galeforce's eyes on her. The bold she-cat turned her wide, sparkling gren eyes to stare straight at him, before turning back. The scent of CloudClan became stronger. She felt relief overwhelm her. Yes! They were nearly there. The ginger and white she-cat spotted the river up aheah. It was frighteningly full. She remembered, a moon or so ago, when the river had burst its banks. She remembered the queen's desprately helping their kits. She shuddered. Sunjinx tossed the prey expertly over the water, then slipped in after Breezestealth. The water was warm and pleasent. Sunjinx swam steadily cross the river, ignoring the current as it tugged at her. She eventually pulled herself out on the other side, and shook her sodden fur. She located her fresh kill and picked it up again. |

Breezestealth slipped into the water and found she actually had to swim where she could normally walk. She was a tall cat and ehr legs were long. She swam across and just as the other who followed her picked up her preyand slipped into camp depositing them on the freshkill pile. "You can lead the Borderpatrol if you want Sunjinx." She said letting the older warrior take the lead.
Galeforce's eyes dropped instantly as he noticed she caught him gazeing at her. He shook his head and threw his water over the river as well. He slidinto the water cringing at the wet feeling of it soaking into his fur and flicked his tail before swimming across. HE slid out of the water and shook his body trying to ridhimself of the water. He picked up his prey and turned before slipping into camp and dropping his prey in the pile after his sister.

Sunjinx dipped her head at Breezestealth's words, dropping her fresh kill to answer. "Sure." The older warrior picked up her load and padded into camp the siblings. She desposited her mouse and jay on the pile. Good. The patrol's catch had made a difference to the amount of prey. She spotted a young brown tom and called to him; "Take this to Icelily." She tossed the squirrel to him. He caught it and padded to the nursery. Turning back to Breezestealth and Galeforce, Sunjinx flicked her tail. "Come on. We need to be sure erenityClan havn't been on our territory again." The white and ginger she-cat led the way back out of the camp, sliding into the warm river again. She ploughed her way across the water, ignoring the ache of her joints. She pulled herself out of the water, shook her wet fur, and aited for the siblings. Standing still made her sore legs feel supple and strong once again. |

Glaeforce slipped back out of camp and back into the river. He slid out and stood on the other side. he shook himself spraying water from his pelt everywhich way. "Sorry" he said as water struck the older warrior in the shoudler and face. He turned, embarrassed and licked his shoulder trying to dry it and keep ehr from noticing the red color flushing his ears.
Breezestealth slipped into the water and padled confidently across. She slid out and smiled unwilling to shake the water from ehr fur. She loved the feeling of thewater soaking into ehr fur and into her skin. It made her feel alive...like a real cat. She smiled and flicked ehr tial towards her brother and made sure the water hit him square in the ear. Nice rosy color to add to that white fur brother. She thougth androlled her eyes. What is he allowing himself to believe? She thougth and sighed before padded over to Sunjinx and waiting for her to lead the way.

Sunjinx jumped with a hiss as the water splashes on her muzzle. The short tempered she-cat glared at Galeforce a moment before looking away. "Be more careful, she mewed, in a carefully controlled voice. The ginger and white warrior glanced exasperatedly at Breezestealth. Toms! She thought. She waved her tail for the two to follow her, and, still shaking river water from her whiskers, she led the way deeper into CloudClan territory. She approched the SerenityClan border, her pace fast and dogged. She scented the air. Nothing seemed out of place.. |

Breezestealth moved forward and flicked ehr brother across the face. Mouse brain... She thought and roleld her eyes at Sunjinx. Toms... She agreed unknowingly with the she-cat. She tasted the air and smiled. "Nothing seemes out of place." She said keeping her pace even with The she-cat.
Galeforce sighed. I'm so clumsy with she-cats. He thought and fell in behind his sister . he caught a wave of irritation flowing off both of them. He flicked his tial shakeing the last bit of water from his drying fur. He sighed again and tasted the air. Nothing seems out of place...Mouse...rabbit...the border... he thought his ears flicking back and forth as he scented around.

Sunjinx halted as a new scent drifted in to her. She drank in the air, eyes narrowed with confusion. She hissed furiously as water splashed out at her, seemingly from nowhere. She turned around to glare at Galeforce again, but seeing that the tom's fur was only slightly damp, she frowned. That much water could only have come from a totally drenched cat. Or something else. She screeched angrily as a secong splash aimed at Breezestealth. She heard low yelping and squeals, and spotted two twoleg kits. She curled back her lips, unsheathed her claws and hissed, eyes threatening. |

Glaeforce was beside the shecat in a moment. He kept his distance from herkeeping her fur from being dampened even more by his own wet pelt. He snarled at the twoleg kits and lashe dout at one with his front paw hissing.
Breezestealth snarled and spun around and lept toward the two kits snarling and slashing at them with her claws. She would run if she had to...but...not if they ran first. She continued to slash the air toward the kits her eyes flaming with anger.

Sunjinx yowled loudly to stop the two warriors. "They're only kits!" she yowled. "They can be easily tricked, without tearing fleshj or spilling blood!" The she-cat streaked around a malicious faced femake kit, causing her to turn around with her. The twoleg yowled in dizziness, rubbing its eyes. Sunjinx shot through its legs. The twoleg kit stumbled and fell with a loud wail. Sunjinx repeated this on a second female kit. The two twoleg kits ran off, clutching eachother. Sunjinx bristled at the remaining three twoleg kits, all male, but lft them for Galeforce and Breezestealth to deal with. |

Breezestealth watched Sunjinx with a look of astonishment on her face. She flicked ehr tail to her brother and the pair raced at the three remaining kits. the kits tried in vain to grab at the cat. with shouts of "Ooooh look at him! aint he purdy!" and "Momma wants a new cat...grab 'em!" The pair dodged the kits eaisily and soon the three kits tummbled to the ground. the pair of siblings raced around tehm once more and the three tom kits raced away.
Galeforce pulled up next to Sunjinx his breath comming in shrot gasps. His eyes were bright and he turned to the shecat. "That was gereat thinking!" he said and looked abck at his sister. "We never would have thought of that..." he said and dippe dhis head to Sunjinx again.
Breezestealth rolled her eyes and murrmured "Yeah...thanks..." She turned and looked around glancing in the direction the kits had taken. "I don't think they'll be back today...but we should report it." She said adn flicked her ears thoughtfully.

Sunjinx shook her dusty fur. She stiffly thanked Galeforce, before turning burning eyes onto Breezestealth. The she-cat nodded. "Let's go," her voice seemed taut, like a coiled spring. The she-cat padded away with a powerful flick of her tail. A tiny cloud of dust rose from the ginger fur on her tail as she moved it. Her eyes were fixed on the trees ahead as she padded onwards. They had to check that there were no more twolegs in CloudClan territory. She knew that the kits were entitled to play in the CloudClanners forest home in the bright, bountiful season of greenleaf, and she had learnt to leave them alone. If they left her alone. And she wasn't going to let a confused tom and a disdainful she-cat stop her patrolling. |

Breezestealth watched the shec at pad away with an air of supiriority about her. she thinks she's to good to run with the likes of us... She toughther lip curling slightly. She caught herself nd forced herself to calm down. She turned and slipped elegantly through the forest behind Sunjinx.
Galeforce padded after the two she-cats calmly. He smiled to himself but suddenly a wave of anger adn disdain swept over him. He gasped and looked at Breezestealth.

Sunjinx's shoulders prickled. She thinks she so high and mighty! Sh felt the ave of hot anger and scorn reach her, and whipped around, blocking Breezestealth's path. Her muscles were taut with anger, her eyes bright with sorrow and fury. "My life has been turned upside down, yet again, by my mate, who finds it good manners to wander off whenever he feels like it! I don't need cats like you, bothering me! I'm trying to get on with my life, and your not helping!" The she-cat breathed heavily for a few moments, then turned sharply around again and padded on. Her tail was stiff and her legs rigid, as she wanted nothing more than to jump of Breezestealth. |

Breezestealth was taken aback by the she-cats words. I didn't even do anything...mangy... She caught herself and shook her ehad. her mothers words slipped trhough her mind. "Be the bigger cat..." Her mother always used to say. "I'm sorry sunjinx..." She said takeing a deep breath..."It's just..." She paused then shook her head. "No never mind...i'm sorry alright?" She mewed and glanced at her brother.
Galeforce stood glareing at his sister. Great job Breezestealth... He spat through his mind and turned shouldering past her. He raced toward Sunjinx and paused beside her seeing her rigid legs and stiff tail. "I'm sorry about your mate..." He siad and let his eyessearch hers for a moment. He didnt' say anything more but his fur was standing on end with nervousness and worry. there was a hint of anger tehre as well but that was directed at his sister. Now she will never even consider me a friend...let alone anything more... he thought adn let his eyes fall to the earth infront of him.

Sunjinx waved her tail in acknowledgement for Breezestealth's apology. She turned to face Galeforce as he raced to her side. t her words, she looked at her paws. "Do not be," the she-cat mewed. "It's nobody's fault he left, except his own." Sunjinx hesitated, hen said, in a quiter tone. "Do not be angry with your sister. She speaks and thinks using her heart. This will make her stronger one day." Sunjinx's emerald gaze swept over Breezestealth, before looking straight ahead to plan out her route as she took it. |

Galeforce sighed and looked at his sister for a moment. "I know...but I fear that one day it will get her killed...and...otehr days....i feel i could speak my heart like she..." He said adn looked at Sunjinx for a long moment wondering if she even cared what was in his heart. He watched ehr looking and planning ahead. His fur ruffled as the wind blew past him. He looked up at the sky and silently prayed. Starclan guide us.
Breezestealth flicked her tail and dropped her gaze. She followed slowly after her brother and Sunjinx. Her pawsteps were heavey and leaden. She studied the ground in front of her and flicked ehr ears forward trying to catch her brothers words. She could catch nothing...he had learned she liked to evesdrop and could keep his voice low enough so she couldn't detect it.

Sunuinx flicked one ear. She could sense Breezestealth striving to listen in to their cinversation. The ginger and white she-cat prodded Galeforce hard in the ribs with her tail tip. "Just be careful," she mewed. "Breezestealth is her own cat now. Your not kits anymore." Sunjinx padded on. She remembered her own kit days, playing about in the dust with her brother Snowkit and sister Patchkit. Leopardstorm had watched them, her green eyes wise. She had never known her father Whitestreak, but she knew from her mother's stories he had been brave. She remembered standing with Patchpaw and Snowpaw, getting her warrior name... Snowblade, Patchfeather and Sunjinx. |

Breezestealth fell back giving up and flicked her tail rritablly. She parted ehr jaws and let the wind rush over them. Hwer mouth watered and she lept into the underbrush. She quickly killed and ate the mouse she had caught and spun around. she watched as the pair of cats disappeard into the undergrowth a fox length away. "Figures..." She spat and bounded after them catching up to them enought to keep them insight.
Galeforce winced as she proded him. She doesn't care....just like I thought... He thougth and sighed slightly flicking his ears back at a scuffle in the bushes. He heard a crunch and his stomach grumbled reminding him how hungery he was. He looked at Sunjinx and flicked his tial. "I know were not kits...but...She's still my sister...she's the only family I have..." He said and looked at his paws.

Sunjinx felt frustration boil in her stomach. She looked at her paws, trying not to get het up. Why did Galeforc think she didn't understand? She had a mate! She still loved Silverflame, whatever he had done to her. She couldn't run off with Galeforce just because he had a silly crush on her. The she-cat looked at the warrior but couldn't bring herself to say anything. She bristled as she felt contempt come off of Breezestealth in waves. She increased hr pace, leaving Galeforce behind. She wanted to be alone with her own, happy thoughts. She wouldn't let Galeforce's unfatuation or Breezestealth's scorn interrupt her memories. She remembered her litter, when they had first been born. Frostkit, Metallickit, Dawnkit, and of course, Ribbonkit. She remembered Dawnkit dying of Greencough, then Frostkit and finally Metiallickit until she only had Ribbonkit. It had made her all the more determined to bring her up well. And she had. Ribbontail was a fine warrior. |
