^{Oh, I had no clue about Skytomb and Icelily OO Should I have Stormeh mentor Otter and Ivorypeach with Stripedpaw? That way Sky and Ice could become elders still. Not to mention it would give Shade a little bit of rest. And It would be interesting how Barrenpaw would react with that in addition of being mentored by Halo. Whatcha think?}

Blackmagic nodded to Oleandergaze in congratulations. He didn't feel like speaking, he looked around the clearing for his brother thankful that he was out hunting.

After the chanting of Oleandergaze's new name, Stormstar continued with the many apprentice ceremonies.

"Barrenpaw, Treepaw, Barleypaw, Haloheart, Deriliumstep, and Sunjinx, please come forward.

"Treepaw, you are in need of a mentor. You are to be mentored by Sunjinx. Sunjinx, you are a warrior of loyalty and wisdom, and I know you are ready. I know you will pass on everything you know about the ways and code of the warrior.

"Barleypaw, you as well are lacking a mentor. Deriliumstep will be you mentor to Barleypaw. You are a worthy teacher, and I know you will pass on everything you know to this apprentice.

"Barrenpaw, you also require a mentor of your own. So you will be the apprentice of Haloheart. Haloheart, I know you are ready for your first apprentice, as you have shown it well. And so I name you mentor of Barrenpaw."</sup>

_{Cloakedclaw heard his siter's name called for an apprentice. He raced to her and pressed against her side, murmuring congratulations. Icelily and Midnightsky joined them, while Cloakedclaw pulled away and went to his mate's mother to congratulate her.}

Sunjinx blinked in the afternoon sunlight, her eyes bright but still brushed by sadness. She had been saddened by Lemonzest's death. The two had been friends and been queens together. The ginger and white she-cat looked up, pricking her ears, as the chanting for Oleandergaze ceased. The warrior lifted her tail in surprise as her name was called. Sunjinx got to her paws, padding towards the Bird's Wing. She smiled at Treepaw. The tom had long, gangly legs and a shifty grin. The she-cat trotted towards her new apprentice and touched noses with him. Sunjinx smiled happily. Though she was not as young as she used to be, Treepaw was only her second apprentice.

Haloheart looked gobsmacked as Stormstar called out her name. She blinked her wide, light blue eyes in uncertainty. She had never thought, even in her wildest dreams, that Stormstar would make her a mentor. Especially because of the trouble she had caused as Halopaw. The light ginger tabby reluctantly got to her paws, padding slowly towards the Bird's Wing. She caught Sunjinx's eye, and the older she-cat smiled. Haloheart attempted a smile back, but it faded on her lips. Was she really ready for this responsibility? The small tabby almost groaned as she was announced as Barrenpaw's mentor. She had been given the most loudmouthed, arrogant and cheeky of all three young cats. Nevertheless, Haloheart turned and touched noses with Barrenpaw. She was saved from having to say anything by her brother. Haloheart pressed close to Cloakedclaw, twining her tail with his. Was she ready for this?

<sub>Deliriumstep blinked when her name was called. She turned to Oleandergaze at the faint surprise. The tom grinned and pushed her towards her apprentice. "Go get them, Deliriumstep!" the broad male called out. The black-gray she-cat laughed out loud at the new warrior and padded up nimbly to Barleypaw.

"Greetings," she said gently, her tone signifying no nonsense and no regrets. She wondered if she would be as great as Illusionarymoon had been to her. She blushed at the thought of filling her grandmother's shoes. After meeting her apprentice, she frowned. Where is Embertail?</sub>

[Spice..xx]

_{Dewpaw barely looked up as the mentors were announced. She kept her head down, she didnt want to be looked at. As she watched Barrenpaw, Barleypaw and Treepaw with their mentors though a thought did cross her mind. "At least they wont be around to bother us as much anymore" she whispered to Tawnypaw, licking her sister face where the tears had fallen gently. She kept close to her sister. Tawnypaw was the only one she had left and she was not going to lose her.
Skyflight smiled at each of the she-cats as they were given apprentices. They all deserved them and she was sure Stormstar had made the right choices. Barrenpaw wouldnt be happy about not getting Stormstar as his mentor though! She smiled as she thought of all the complaining, but she knew Haloheart was more than capable. She walked over to Deleriumstep and touched her nose to the she-cats. "Well done!" she said smiling her light green eyes dancing.}[/color]

Barleypaw squealed with glee and pranced up to her new mentor, "Hello!" she cried. She looked confused when Deliriumstep frowned, "What's wrong?" she asked, cocking her head to the side, her blue eyes wondering.[/color]

Barrenpaw couldn't believe it. Stormstar wasn't mentoring him? And, what's worse, he had chosen Haloheart? Barrenpaw hated the white she-cat's very guts! Letting out a long, quiet growl, he padded up slowly to meet his mentor. His tail flickered as he touched noses with her, purposely pulling away from her pink nose quickly. He didn't ask to go hunting, like he had been planning to ask Stormstar. He didn't say a word, he just padded back to where he had been sitting. He hadn't wanted a mentor this badly! Haloheart wasn't exactly an amazing warrior, and besides, he couldn't stand her! His aqua eyes glared at the ground in front of his paws, angry.

Deliriumstep's expression cleared when she saw Barleypaw. "Oh, sorry, I was just wondering where Embertail was? Don't worry about it," she said, a smile creasing her face. She turned to Skyflight and grinned at her good friend. "So much for Barrenpaw getting Stormstar," the she-cat commented dryly. "Tawnypaw will never let him hear the end of it."</sub>

_{Skyflight smiled slightly and nodded. She looked sadly over at Tawnypaw and Dewpaw. "Thats if they say anything, they havnet spoken to anyone apart from the themselves since...." Skyflight stopped, knowing Deleriumstep would know what she was going to say. She looked over at Barrenpaw. "Look at his face! Haloheart will not be impressed" she laughed, even though in some ways she felt sorry for Barrenpaw. She knew he hated Haloheart but he had been so big-headed, he had got what he deserved. As for Haloheart.....well, she would cope! Skyflight smiled at the thought. She looked around camp at the mention of Embertail. "Yes, i havnt seen Embertail, come to think of it" she said. The deputy was not making a good start, not even showing up for the ceremony that named him deputy of CloudClan.}[/color]

Haloheart flinched as Barrenpaw jerked quickly away from her greeting. He flounced back to where he had been sat with a look of hatred and sulkiness in his eyes. Haloheart felt a hard lump form in her throat, and swallowed with difficultly. She felt hurt clutch at her insides. She had been prepared to try with Barrenpaw was obviously going to act like a spoilt kit. Haloheart felt her hurt neld into anger, and then pride. She was not going to let her hateful apprentice hurt her. She would just have to show him just how chilidish he was acting by acting like a warrior herself. Haloheart's blue eyes raked Barrenpaw's face, filled with disappointment that would have made Tawnypaw or Indigopaw squirm. Turning slowly, calmly, she padded back to her own place, sitting.

Tawnypaw pressed her cheek against Dewpaw's. As she sister murmured something into her ear, the she-cat blinked in confusion. What was Dewpaw taking about? Tawnypaw flicked her tail, dazed, then something clunked into place. Treepaw, Barleypaw and Barrenpaw. Tawnypaw attempted a smile that turned into a grimace. "Y-yeah," she choked. "G-great." Tawnypaw didn't even laugh at the tom. He had already faded into nano-importance compared to Lemonzest.

[FIREH!!]

_{Cloakedclaw noticed his sister's dismay. He purred reasurringly and twined his tail with hers. Don't worry sis, he's hot-headed. He'll get over it. If he doesn't, I'll show him what will happen if he messes with my sister. The tom licked her ears and pressed against her side comfortingly. He could tell she was tense, and continued to purr reasurringly to her.}

Haloheart turned sharply to face Cloakedclaw. She knew the dark ginger tabby was trying to help, but temper was lapping at her heart. "I'll take care of him myself," she snapped. "I'm not a lost lamb, you know. I'm a warrior, too." After the words left her mouth, Haloheart sighed. "I'm sorry," she murmured, hanging her head. "I know your just trying to help, but..." The ginger she-cat kneaded the earth with her small white forepaws. "I want to do this myself. I've never done anything alone. Even since we were kits, we did everything together." Haloheart looked at Barrenpaw, determination lifting her spirits. She would help Barrenpaw to mend his ways. Maybe she could not fix his arrogance, but his bad attitude would have to go. He can't always have everything he wants...

[Wolf]

Brokenskull meowed randomly, got to his large paws and padded slowly towards Tansykit. "Hullo Tansykit!" He mewed cheerfully, plopping down beside her.

[FIREH!!]

<sub>Cloakedclaw backed away, stricken. Okay, sis, whatever you say. He turned and walked away, disappearing into the tunnel that marked the entrance.

Haloheart's expression turned, and she started after her brother. He looked so upset. "Cloakedclaw!" she called, her ears drooping. But her brother did not reappear. Haloheart sighed, turning around again.

A voice startled Tansykit. The kitten had been staring at her paws, her blind green eyes very wide. She was fighting against a tide of emotions. Sadness, envy. Sadness, because she knew she would never be a proper apprentice. Envy, because she now had to bear Indigiopaw, Stripedpaw and Hailpaw's joyful stories of training and whatnot. And guilt, because of the feelings of jealousy and anger stirring inside. And so, Brokensull's low, disorientated tones scared her. Looking up sharply, Tansykit flattened her ears. It took her a moment to drink in the tom's scent and recognize him. "Oh..." murmured Tansykit in her quiet voice. "Hello, Brokenskull."

[Wolf]

Brokenskull's whole body seemed to droop as he noticed how upset Tanskykit was. "Hey don't be... upset little mouse, that's... no good." He meowed gently, nudging her side with his nose. "I don't like it... when my friends are... upset. It's not...nice."

[FIREH!!]

_{Icelily stepped from her spot beside her mate, her silver muzzle finding it's way to Haloheart. You know honey, you need to be carful with Cloakedclaw. He is finding it hard to let go of the past, since he has lost all his siblings from his litter except for you. SHe meowed, licking her ears. Her voice was raspy, a little cracked with age. She hoped that Stormstar would carry out her and Skytomb's Elder ceremony soon.}

Haloheart whipped around as a soft voice rasped beside her ear. Her expression softened slightly as she recognized the white pelt and beautiful blue eyes of her mother. The ginger tabby's eyes clouded. "Yes, maybe," she mewed. "But he's forgetting that they were my brothers and sister, too." Haloheart felt the familiar bullet of pain pierce her hurt. She missed Shoalpaw, Flightpaw and Rushpaw, too, but she just didn't show it like Cloakedclaw. Haloheart swallowed painfully, remembering Shoalpaw's liquid swiftness and shifty grin; she remembered Flightpaw's giggly laugh and sweet smile, and Rushpaw boastful nature and proud stance. She wished that they were here.

Indigopaw burst out of nowhere, his large paws flying. The tom landed beside his mother and sister, skidding in the dust. "Hey Mum!" he mewed loudly. "Hey Haloheart!" The blue-grey tom blinked his dark blue eyes eagerly. He looked the spitting image of his father, as an apprentice, but for his sapphire eyes. His father's eyes had always been yellow.

Tansykit looked up at Brokenskull, her wide eyes giving the illusion of vision. The ginger and white kitten's lips twitched slightly into a small smile at Brokenskull's broken, slow speech. "Thankyou," she mewed. She was glad to hear that the tom thought of her as a friend. A lot of CloudClan thought that she would be on use. And the other clans would surely taunt her blindness, especially the hardy MoonClan. "I wish I wasn't blind," she burst out, her ears drooping and her tail sadly falling still. But her green eyes remained emotionless, as always.

A dark, muscular tabby form had been listening from the shadows of camp. He saw the way Barrenpaw had reacted towards him getting Haloheart as a mentor and raised one eyebrow. He padded up to the white she-cat, hoping to be friendly towards her, even though things hadn't been great between them in the past. 'Hey, Haloheart.' he said, tentatively.

Brokenskull licked Tansykit's ears, "There's nothing wrong...with being....blind. You are still....as good as....any other cat. It doesn't....bother me....that you are blind.....because you are....my little mouse." He meowed slowly.

<sub>Icelily smiled gently at her daughter. Yes I know, you just have to be patient. He is a boy after all. She smiled and laughed. Golly me! It seems as if Indigopaw has come for a noogie! She grasped the apprentice by the scruff and dragged sheathed paws over his head.

Forstkit padded quietly up behind he sister. Tansykit, you know, you're my best friend. She meowed unexpectedly. she was always one to say random things, but this was even more random than usual.

Stripedpaw emerged behind her brother and leaped onto Haloheart's back. Hey sis! She cried out.</sub>
