There was so much on Stormstar's mind that he couldn't stand it. Warriors to make, apprentices to name, apprentices to be mentored, and a deputy to name. It was obvious Mythsecrets wasn't going to return. The leader had failed to believe she was dead when she had disappeared, but he didn't want to, not so recently after the loss of Snowstorm. But he had a warrior he was sure would make a fine deputy.
""Cats of CloudClan, we have lacked an important piece of our Clan since the disappearance of Mythsecrets. I failed to believe she had died, just after the death of Snowstorm. I have now realized that we shall most likely never see her again, so today, I will appoint a new deputy. In the sight of Starclan, I announce my new deputy so they may hear and approve of my choice. Embertail will be the new deputy of CloudClan!"[/sup][/b]

Deliriumstep's ears perked and she ruffled her fur. "Embertail?" she asked aloud, wondering who the tom was. He was probably older than she. The blackish-gray female raised her voice and began chanting the deputy's name. "Embertail! Embertail!"
Oleanderpaw joined in as well, his leaf-green eyes shimmering. The monochromatic brown tom shook himself and sat next to Deliriumstep, almost as big as the she-cat due to his shoulder size and fluffiness of his warm pelt. He beamed with pride. This would be the meeting where he would be a warrior. He was of age after all.

Skyflight padded out of the warriors den. She sat beneath the Bird's Wing and looked around for someone to sit with. She saw Deliriumstep and Oleanderpaw were the only two cats who had come to the clearing so far and went to sit down near them. She smiled and dipped her head but said nothing. "Embertail, Embertail!" she chanted with the rest of the Clan.
Dewpaw padded listlessly out of the apprentices den. She sat and stared at nothing, her grey eyes clouded as they saw nothing and everything. Her mother lieing dead, Tawnypaws face when she found her. These images haunted Dewpaw. She looked small and fragile as she hadnt groomed herself properly in days and she wasnt eating much at all. She wondered fleetingly where Tawnypaw was but didnt move to look for her. She hardly heard the ceremony, it sounded so far away...[/color]

Icelily padded from the nursery and to the clearing. She sat down and chanted the new deputy. Embertail! She called.
Midnightsky smiled as he sat down beside his mother. Hey mom, He purred. Embertail! He chanted.
Cloakedclaw stepped from the warriors' den and raced over. He chanted the new deputy's name and smiled.
Frostkit leaped out of the nursery and slammed into Cloakedclaw. She mumbled an aplogy and raced to Embertail. Congratulations! She yowled, licking the tom.
Stripedkit followed slowly, and sat down silently beside her mother. She smiled at her. Then she chanted the new deputy's name.

Ivorypeach smiled at the though of a new deputy. Then her thoughts wandered to Mythsecrets,"Mythsecrets..." she whispered under her breath. The warrioress turned and padded over next to the two kits, "Hullo Stripedkit and Frostkit!" she said gleefully, nudging both of them with her nose.[/color]

Barrenpaw didn't chant, just nodded slowly. His eyes were narrowed vainly as he searched for the new deputy. His eyes caught Dewpaw, looking small and unkept, almost as if she were a rouge. He pushed away the prickling feeling of guilt and pity and focused on the ceremony. He should be getting his mentor today. His coat gleamed in the high sun, for once clean and glossy. His aqua eyes looked around for his siblings, but they were still in the den. Lazy as badgers, he thought, flicking his tail crossly. He kneaded the ground like an anxious kit. [/blockquote][/color]

Frostkit bounced happily. I think I'm becoming an apprentice today! Ivorypeach, if I become an apprentice, can you be my mentor? She asked, still bouncing around, with her tail straight up in the air.
Stripedkit smiled at Ivorypeach, returning the nudge. She meowed, I hope I become an apprentice. I'm six moons. She replied, uncertainly.

"To the death," Oleanderpaw said solemnly. The fluffy brown tom came to his paws and shook out his fur, coming forward to stand in front of Stormstar after flashing a handsome smile to Skyflight and Deliriumstep. The monochromatic tom turned his malachite-colored eyes to the leader once more, wind puffing up his fur as he stood on firm legs supported by broad shoulders and hips.
Deliriumstep returned the brown tom's grin, knowing that he would be a strong, courageous warrior. And, with those beautiful eyes, sweeping gait, and classy way of words, that Oleanderpaw could sweep a she-cat right off her paws. The dark-gray she-cat smirked at the thought. She couldn't wait to see what type of kits he would have and if she could mentor one herself one day.

Barleypaw looked up to see her freind appraoch the Bird's Wing. She turned to Otterkit, "I wonder when I'm gonna become a warrior," she whispered the kit.
The brown kit smiled, "I wonder when I'm gonna become an apprentice!" she squeaked. Then Otterkit turned her attention to her mother, "Mum, when am I gonna become an apprentice?"
Blissclaw looked at her daughter, "I dunno, little one. Sometime soon I guess," she smiled, rubbing a paw on Otterkit's head.

The shadowy shape that was Tawnypaw slid out of the apprentices' den a few moments after everybody else. The she-cat looked awful. Shadows clung to her eyes, and her cheeks were stuck with dried tears. The scent of herbs drifted from her coat, and her nose was crusted at the tip. The apprentice had paid for her dive into the river. Tawnypaw sat down beside Dewpaw, sighing. The apprentice blinked blearily, still thinking of Lemonzest. A tear dribbled from one sore eye. The she-cat pressed herself against her sister, not watching the ceremony. She stared at her paws bleakly.
Indigokit bounced from the nursery, restored to his usaul bright self. The blue-grey kitten trotted towards Frostkit and Stripedkit, nudging in to sit between his sister and friend. The tom gave Ivorypeach a funny look as she spoke to Frostkit, blue eyes wide. He hadn't ever seen the warrior before. But soon the ceremony swept away Indigokit's confusion. The kitten pressed himself to the earth. "Embertail!" he called, before turning to Stripedkit. "We're six moons! We'll be apprenticed! Right?"
A ginger and white she-cat padded softly from the nursery. The kitten pricked up her ears, blinking her green eyes, though they still saw nothing. Tansykit padded into the crowd, scenting her way in between the cats of CloudClan. She sat with her sister, Stripedkit and Indigokit, curling her patched tail over her small white forepaws. Tansykit looked blindly at Frostkit as she spoke. "We won't be apprenticed, will we?" she mewed anxiously in her small, gentle voice. At least, I won't. |

Dewpaw glanced up as her sister approached and the only glimmer of slight happiness there had been in her in days crossed her eyes. She pressed her self against her sister and licked her head gently. She hated seeing her sister ill as well as so upset, so she liked to stay close to her. She watched as a tear fell between her paws from Tawnypaw and felt her own eyes filling. Oh how she missed her mother. A tear dribbled down her cheek and she sniffed hard. Now was not the time to cry, not when everyone was there. She shufled closer still to her sister and sat there, breathing in her sisters sweet scent that was mingled with herbs.[/color]

Stripedkit smiled at Ivorypeach. I think Emberatil'll make a great deputy, She finally meowed. Then she turned to her brother. Yeah! She meowed happily. She meowed a greeting to Tansykit and moved over so the kit could sit between her and Frostkit.
Frostkit made a face. I don't know.. He seems to quiet. She meowed. Then she turned to Tansykit. Yeah!! All of us! Who do you think'll be your mentor, Tansykit? She asked her.
A shadowy figure moved to stand behind Tansykit, as if to protect her from dark thoughts. No one could see him but her. Tansykit.. He meowed to her, You will be an apprentice. You will become a warrior. No cat can stop you. He meowed reasurringly before he faded into the light.

Tawnypaw opened her eyes wide, feeling tears prick at them. She bit her lips, trying to stop the tears from spilling over. Eventually, her watering eyes shut in one quick blink. No tears fell, but as Tawnypaw relaxed her mouth slightly she tasted blood. She had torn at the inside of her mouth with her sharp teeth. The apprentice swallowed the blood, her tail twitching feebly in the dust. The she-cat was aware of a loud conversation between Indigokit, Stripedkit, Frostkit and Tansykit. Indigokit, Stripedkit and their brother, Hailkit, had been Tawnypaw and Dewpaw's former denmates, and so Tawnypaw might once have been tempted to join the conversation. But for now, her exhaustion and sadness stopped her.
Tansykit sighed. "I don't know," she murmured, looking at her paws. The kit suddenly felt cold fur brush her sides. The pelt, though freezing, was soft, and a voice murmured into her ear. A familiar voice. "Tansykit.. You will be an apprentice. You will become a warrior. No cat can stop you." The kit drew in a sharp breath, but before she could speak the cold feeling vanished, and the voice slipped away. Tansykit shivered. She had heard this voice once before - after Dragonwhistler's death. It was my fault... The familiar notion tainted the young cat's thoughts until she shook it away. Tansykit blinked sadly. I know one cat who will stop me. Myself. |

Blackmagic slipped out of the warriors den hearing every word Stormstar had said. He didn't want to chant so he just sat at the edge of the clearing, his eyes showing his emotions.
Silentravenstepped out of the den after Blackmagic he chanted Embertail's name with the others. He padded over and sat next to Skyflight.

The elderly leader stepped forward and rested his muzzle upon the new warrior's head, waiting for the respectful lick in return. When the gesture was perfromed, he leapt back upon the Bird's Wing, watching as his Clan chanted the name of the tom.[/sup]

Cloakedclaw stood and yowled, Oleandergaze! Oleandergaze had been moved into the Apprentices' Den right before Cloakedclaw was made a warrior, but he still felt friendship to the tom.
Midnightsky chanted the new warrior's name. He smiled happily. Cloudclan was given more strength.
Icelily chanted the new warrior's name, along with Frostkit and Stripedkit. Stripedkit then bowled over her brother, Indigokit, and swatted him a couple of times. Gotcha! She laughed.

The brown tom smiled sagely, returning Stormstar's honorary lick. He curled his tail around as he turned to his Clan, beautiful eyes shining humbly as Oleandergaze returned to his spot. He flashed the other CloudClan warriors a respectful nod and turned his head to the entrance, where he would keep vigil for the night to ponder his warrior name. He returned to Skyflight's and Deliriumstep's side, wondering if anyone else was going to be promoted.
Deliriumstep turned to number of kits soon to be apprentice. "My, my, they're so big," she said gently, flicking her tail tail towards Indigokit and the others. She would love to mentor one of them.

Deliriumstep nodded with a gentle laugh. "It seems like yesterday Stripedkit, Tansykit, and the others were born, now they're going to be apprentices," the dark-gray she-cat told the femme. She paused for a moment to ruffle her fur up. The chill was getting to her. "And it also seems like yesterday when it was Newleaf," Deliriumstep added dryly.
Oleandergaze's husky laugh punctuated Deliriumstep's statement. "I feel the same way, Deliriumstep," the tom told the older warrior. "I feel like it was only yesterday I was becoming a warrior. Now, tonight, I must perform my vigil."

Hailpaw/Midnightsky
Let me know if you strongly disagree with these matchups. There's too many apprentices and not enough warriors, and I don't want Stormstar to mentor. I'm trying to avoid it, at least.

((I'm okay with it, but I was wondering if Ivorypeach and Blissclaw could mentor too. If not, I'm ok, but I do want Otterkit to become Otterpaw, and at least one of my warriors to mentor, please? yesh, I remember the rule, and I thought it was 80, and also, I had writer's block when I posted that.))
Ivorypeach nodded at the two warriors, "Yeah, it seems like that many times, but it's been so long I can't remember any of their faces." She looked downcast, then brightened up again. Her white head moved side to side, "Hmm, I wonder if I'm going to mentor one the kits, it'd be pretty cool." Her stomach grumbled and she groaned, "Uggh, I need some fresh-kill."
Otterkit jumped up and down, "I can't wait to become an apprentice! Then I'll be Otterpaw! It'd be so awesome!" she cried joyfully. Otterkit turned to her mom, "Mum, if I become an apprentice, can you mentor me?"[/color]
Blissclaw chuckled at her daughter, "I don't think that's allowed, my kit."[/color]
Dapplekit padded up beside her denmate, "Hi, Stripedkit! What's goun' on?" she asked in her cute and innocent voice.[/color]
