Skytomb burst through the wall of ferns surrounding the CloudClan camp, still dripping wet from swimming across the stream. Stopping breufly to shake his blue pelt, he looked wildly around at the calm atmosphere. With a hiss of impatience, he leapt up onto the Bird's Wing, and yowled angrily for the clan.
Sunjinx crept from the nursery, puzzled. Why was Skytomb calling for a clan meeting? The ginger-and-white queen hurried over to the base of the Bird's Wing and sat there. Had something happened to Cormorantstar? Something bad...?
"Cats of CloudClan!" yowled Skytomb breathlessly. "I have discovered something that will change everything! I watched Cormorantstar go into EclipseClan territory, and followed him. I wanted to know where he was going. And then this EclipseClan she-cat appeared, and they touched noses and said they'd missed eachother. Thos she-cat was white with blue eyes. Cormorantstar has betrayed us; he has fallen in love with an EclipseClan cat!"
Sunjinx gasped in shock. Her body tensed in anger. Why would he do that? He didn't deserve to be a leader if he did this! Surely StarClan would show their wrath?
"This queen's name is Lonelyheart," she yowled out. "I've seen her at Gatherings!" |

A dark gray tom ran into camp, his eyes were full of anger as he stared at Skytomb on the Bird's Wing. His ears were back as he slunk forward. For a long time he thought about what to say and then when he was in front of the Wing he jumped up on it and looked Skytomb right in the eye. "How would you feel if Icelily was in another Clan?"he hissed,"Think about it for awhile and come tell me when you have decided." He jumped off the Birds Wing and walked to his den. "Oh,"Cormorantstar began,"Thats my spot." He gave Skytomb a slight smile and disappeared into the den. |

As Cormorantstar entered camp, Sunjinx hissed at him, her neck fur rising. "Traitor!" she spat, claws out.
Skytomb narrowed his eyes, leaping from the Bird's Wing and following his leader into the den. He stood in the entrance, ears flat back and fur bristling. "Icelily wouldn't be in another clan, because I'd never have taken a she-cat from a different clan for a mate!" he hissed, his yellow eyes furious slits. "As leader, you have a responsibility, you are supposed to be the one who witholds the warrior code, not breaks it!" The blue-grey warrior dug his claws into the earth. He was wild with anger. How could Cormorantstar be so foolish? |

Cormorantstar narrowed his eyes at Skytomb. He wanted the cat out of den, out of camp, out of the Clan! But he just sat down and and meowed,"Then I shall not break it!" He stood and looked at Skytomb right in the eye. "I will ask her to join the Clan! She has no life in EclipseClan! She told me! She would probably be glad to join the Clan!"he growled with anger. |

Skytomb's maw fell open.
"You can't do that to her!" he meowed. "You know no cat would accept her if she chose to join CloudClan! And how do you know Amethyststar will let her leave? ow can she leave with Amethyststar finding out? You have to think it over first!" |

Cormorantstar was furious now. "Don't tell me what to do and what not to do!"he growl, digging his claws into the ground. "Get out!"he hissed,"If you don't think I'm loyal to my Clan than think again! I would die for them! And no cat will ever separate another cat from his love and if they did they would be the enemy!" |

Icelily gasped. "Skytomb! Is it true?" she asked, falling in step. But he was in the leader's den. Oh no, she thought. Sitting down, she waited for Skytomb to reappear.

Skytomb turned and stalked away, every muscle in his body stiff. He was trying hard not to give in to temptation and attack Cormorantstar, but he was smarter than that. Seeing his mate, he sat down beside her, his flank brushing her's, the quarrel they had had earlier, in the tom's mind, long forgotten. He raspede his tongue over his mate's silky ear, and purred: "It's true. And Cormorantstar intends to invite Lonelyheart to the clan. He will not stop it, though I think he realises he is breaking the warrior code. He is a fool if he does not." |

"Don't worry about him. He is a fool for breaking the code... I agree with you full heartedly... Even though I was the one to suggest that to him..." She said the last part in a barely audible whisper. She licked him between the ears.

Skytomb stiffened. "You?" he hissed. Then he sighed, not wanting to argue with his mate again. To change the subject, he said: "How are the kits?" |

Cormorantstar stood inside the den. He was leaning against the side for support. He knew that it wouldn't work between himself and Lonelyheart but her story was horrible and he would break her heart. It would break his heart as well. He walked out into the sunlight. It warmed his dark pelt but it was still cold. The tom stood behind Skytomb and flicked his tail for Skytomb's attention. "Skytomb,"he sighed,"You are right that I shouldn't be with Lonelyheart so I won't be." His heart fell as he said it but he continued strongly. "I should have never talked to her at the border." He felt like a kit confessing he secrets and telling his mother that he was sorry that he wondered off and that he didn't like. "I will go to the border soon and tell her that we can not be together,"he meowed, "So I hope you and the Clan are happy." The tom turned and stalked off into his den, his tail and head down, his eyes clouded. |

Skytomb did not look triumphant; he was not like that. "Good; you have made the ise decision fit for your position," he mewed firmly. When Cormorantstar spoke his last sentence, Skytomb sighed again. "Forgive me, but perhaps you should stop feeling sorry for yourself? It;s not helping anyone." He extended a paw and licked it carefully. |

Though Cormorantstar didn't respond to Skytomb, he was too busy thinking about what he would say to Lonelyheart. They could still be friends and see each other at the Gatherings but he shook his head. She is going to be heart broken and it's all my fault. He looked out of the den at Skytomb and asked,"Skytomb please could you come here?" He needed Skytomb's advice on this. |

Skytomb nodded. He licked his mate's soft cheek: "Soon," he whispered, meaning their second litters' apprentice ceremonies. Then he padded after Cormorantstar, sitting near the entrance of the leader's den, wondering whether he was about to be scolded, or even clawed. |

Cormorantstar sat in front of Skytomb and began,"I have to ask you something." He paused and took a deep breath. "Lonelyheart has been heart broken once before. I don't want to break her heart again,"he sighed,"What should I do?" |

Skytomb tucked his paws beneath his chest, relieved. He eyed Cormorantstar with bright yellow eyes, and twitched his blue tail.
"If you do not want to break her heart, be honest with her," he meowed. "Sometimes, if you truly love someone, you have to let them go." |

Cormorantstar listened and nodded. "You are right, Skytomb,"he meowed,"I will let her go..." His voice drifted away as he went into thought. I will just let her go... He looked up and meowed with a bit more energy,"Oh and if you had to chose one of your kits to mentor, who would you chose?" He smiled and thought about who would mentor who. |

Skytomb twitched his tail. Good, Cormorantstar was doing the sensible thing. At the leader's next uestion, his ears pricked up. He was a little puzzled, but thought about it. Halokit... No, she needed a female mentor.. Rushkit and Flightkit and Cloakedkit where all sweet but he admitted to himself he wouldn't really want such a hyper apprentice. After a moments thought, he replied: "Shoalkit." |

Cormorantstar nodded and flicked his tail for Skytomb to leave. "Thank you," he meowed,"The ceremony will be soon." He then went back into thought. Alright Skytomb will mentor Shoalkit. Snowstorm will mentor Halokit. Midnightsky will mentor Flightkit. Butterscotch will mentor Cloakedkit. I will mentor Rushkit. He nodded and smiled. The ceremony will begin soon. |

Skytomb smiled widely, trying to contain his joy. "Thankyou," he purred, before bursting from the den and catapulting into Icelily. "He's gonna apprentice them!" he cried excitedly. "Today!" |
