<sub>Barrenpaw sat off to the side of the CloudClan camp, near the apprentice den. What a boring day! Nothing to do, no one to compete with. Boring. Lifting his head, he sniffed. Nope, he couldn't smell Barleypaw or Treepaw. Maybe if he actually had a mentor things wouldn't be as boring. Stupid Stormstar. Couldn't the leader see that he would make a great warrior? Maybe Stormstar would train him himself! The leader's apprentice!
His gray-brown pelt was messy as he stretched his leg muscles. Padding in circles around camp, he waited for somone to ask him on a hunting patrol or something.

A gray form shifted out of the leader's den, hard to make out in the bright sunlight.

He looked around camp and spotted Barrenpaw. He tilted his head, and remembered that the apprentice was lacking a mentor. He padded over to the apprentice, flicking his tail in greeting along with his words. "Hello Barrenpaw," Stormstar meowed. "You are lacking a mentor, no?"

[ooc]:// I never notice CloudClan stuff much anymore. The cat-making is closed, so nobody posts much. She also needs to open it so I can finally make Midnightlove become pregnant.[/size]

The day was bright. Eyes the exact hue of the azure sky peered up at the clouds. Haloheart padded from the warriors' den, her small, delicate white paws making no sound on the grassy earth. The slender ginger tabby gave a yawn, showing all of her sharp, diamond-white teeth. Haloheart shook her head from side to side as though shaking the sleep from her ears. The young warrior trotted towards where a large dark grey cat was standing near a smaller cat with long, sandy fur. As Haloheart got closer she recognized Stormstar and the young apprentice, Barrenpaw. Haloheart ducked her head respectfullt to Stormstar, before mewing; "Good morning."

[ooc]:// Er, Shade, I mean. Wait a second, am I supposed to open it? Because if I am, I didn't know that, and I ish sorry. OO; And sorry if that last post came out kinda rude, Shadeh. Also, do Treepaw and Barleypaw need mentors as well? I'm so sorry I don't keep up with things anymore. And a last note-writer's block.

Stormstar turned his head as a new voice was heard. "Good morning, Haloheart," he mewed as he turned his head to the she-cat.

// That's okay. ^^ Well, it's your choice when it's comes down to it, but if it were up to me I'd compare the numbers. If CloudClan are equal/falling behind the other clans, then you should lift the ban. If not, I wouldn't. It's your choice, though.
You probably won't want to decide yet, but can I maybe act one of Midnightlove's kits?

Barrenpaw nodded to Haloheart and Stormstar. "Yeah, I have no mentor. When will I get one?" he asked rather impatently. Shifting his paws, he looked from Stormstar to Haloheart. He sure hoped Stormstar wouldn't choose a weak warrior like her for his mentor! That would... well, at least he'd have a mentor, but why shouldn't he be the leaders apprentice.}

Haloheart smiled and nodded at Stormstar. The ginger tabby raised an eyebrow at Barrenpaw's loud, impatient words. "A hasty cat often rushs into danger," she told him, blinking her blue eyes at the sandy coated apprentice. Haloheart padded to the fresh kill pile, picking up a mouse in her mouth. She then lay down a few tail lengths away from the tom and the apprentice to eat it.

Stormstar smiled. "I will hold your mentor ceremony when I think of a mentor for you"[b/] He looked to Haloheart. "But Haloheart is correct. You must have patience. I would not have made it back to CloudClan without it."

// Yes. I think Indigokit, Hailkit and Stripedkit should be apprenticed, too, if there are enough warriors. Skytomb, Haloheart, Sunjinx, Lemonzest and Dragonflydance can all mentor. Obviously I'd want a decent roleplayer for the medicine cat apprentice. ^^

<sup>Barrenpaw sniffed. "I guess," he muttered, a little angry. Why couldn't he have his ceremony now? He huffed out a sigh and fell onto the ground, resting his head on his paws. "It's so boring without a mentor, though," the sand-colored apprentice complained. "But I guess it's better than a stupid kit," Barrenpaw muttered. It was better than being cooped up in the nursury, he had to admit.

Stormstar nodded and smiled. "Maybe if you're lucky, I'll mentor you." He gave him a wink and went into his den to think about mentors for the apprentices.

Haloheart smiled and rolled her eyes. Stormstar had just said the wrong thing to Barrenpaw, and he knew it. The ginger tabby she-cat imagined his face if Stormstar did not mentor him. Haloheart gave a little sigh. Indigokit, Stripedkit, Hailkit and Treepaw were all capable, too. It wasn't really fair to comment like that to Barrenpaw. The obnoxious apprentice was bound to boast, which would only cause hurt and anger among the apprentices. Haloheart crunched on a bone, wondering whether she would get an apprentice. True, there were older, more experienced warriors, but... Maybe. Someday.

^{Barrenpaw smiled. He knew it! Stormstar was going to mentor him! If you're lucky... he had said. He was lucky! Right? Besides, he was a better apprentice than Treepaw or Barleypaw. He looked around camp to find his siblings. They may not belive him, but he was sure of it - Stormstar would make him his apprentice! Right?}

Haloheart watched Barrenpaw out of the corner of one light azure eye. She smiled and shook her head. She got to her paws, stretching the cramps out of each slender leg. She then yawned, her white teeth flashing. The little ginger tabby buried the remains of the fresh kill, before wiping away the dirt on her paws on some grass. Haloheart then padded past Barrenpaw on her way to the warriors' den. She flicked her tail so that it brushed his nose. "He say if your lucky," she mewed over her shoulder, before disappearing into the warriors' den. Haloheart extended one small white paw to prod a motionless bundle of dark brown tabby fur. "Wake up, Eaglefeather," she mewed briskly. "We're on hunting patrol, remember?"

<sub>It wasn't that much of a boring day. Treepaw had gone off to the elders den and cleaned some bedding. He was one to actually like the job. He loved hearing the stories of the elders as they spoke to the kits, even though he was no kit himself. After that, he had gone to assist Dragonflydance on a search for catmint, which was fun. With his good sense of smell, he easily found the strong herb. After Dragonflydance had sent him off, he had gotten a mouse to eat with Barleypaw. When she was called to do something, Treepaw finally got a moment of rest.

So the golden brown apprentice sat in the shade of a rock near the center of camp, grooming his pelt. Even though he hadn't been able to hunt or train, he was having some fun with other things. He wasn't one to get bored easily. He found it interesting to watch his brother, who seemed to be deep in thought but when Stormstar padded over, the young tom rolled his eyes. The arrogant fool. He always got what he wanted. Sighing, Treepaw watched silently as Haloheart came, Stormstar left, and Barrenpaw sit, with a large grin on his face.

It made Treepaw gag seeing him smile.</sub>

<sup>Barrenpaw sniffed, his smile fading at Haloheart's remark. "I'm plenty lucky!" he protested, stalking away from Haloheart in quite a huff.
Finally spotting Treepaw at the center of camp, Barrenpaw bounded over to him. At first, his anger had caused him to forget what Stormstar had said to him. "That stinking Haloheart! Why doesn't she just go curl up in a badger set! No one likes her anyway!" Scowling across the clearing at the white warrior, he hoped that, by soem mircle, he could harm her with only his aqua-blue eyes.

_{Icy eyes widened when Barrenpaw bounded over to his brother. Treepaw was shocked that he would even take notice of him. Oh well. He was surely mad at thats all that counted. He began to talk about Haloheart, saying that she should curl up in a badger set and that no one liked her. Treepaw liked her! He thought she was a very caring and gentle warrior. He hoped he would get a mentor like her. He frowned and tilted his head one direction. "Why do you say that?" he asked, his voice curious. "I think Haloheart is a very nice warrior."}

A sleek brown and white apprentice appeared at the entrance of camp. Two mice hung from her mouth by their long, naked tails. The slender she-cat trotted across to the fresh kill pile, her step dainty. She dropped the mice onto the pile, before shaking out her pelt and turning. Tawnypaw's green eyes glimmered as she spotted Barrenpaw and Treepaw. The she-cat trotted across to them, her large ears tilted forward. Tawnypaw had grown larger, her body more mature. She had lost her kitten-ish looks, and her face looked more like that of an adult cat. As Tawnypaw sat beside Treepaw, she raised her tail in greeting. "Hi guys," she mewed, voice bright. She then noticed the toms' expressions, and frowned. "What's up?"

<sub>Treepaw smiled brightly as another apprentice approached the two younger toms. Tansypaw. She was the daughter of Lemonzest who was still a warrior in CloudClan and Cormorantstar, who was long gone. No one knew exactly where he went or why he left. But Treepaw had been very young when the noble brave Cormorantstar left. Dragonflydance told him that he had ran away because of the death of his former mate in EclipseClan. She had told him that it broke his heart. He never really stopped loving her but he never stopped loving Lemonzest either. He was torn and chose Lemonzest. After the Clan heard that Lonelyheart was dead, Cormorantstar had gone into a dark depressing mood and finally just ran away.

Treepaw shook the thought away of the old Leader and smiled at Tansypaw. "Hi! We were just talking..." he said, his voice trailing off as he gave Barrenpaw a sideways glance.</sub>

Stormstar settled in his den and flattened his ears as he overheard what was happening outside. Barrenpaw's boasting voice was heard throughout thewhole camp. The dark gray tom sighed. He had made a mistake in choosing Barrenpaw as his possible apprentice. Of course, the insane apprentice would rub it in all the cats' faces. He thought of maybe mentoring another apprentice, but decided he would not. If he did, Barrenpaw would be even more unhappy than if he didn't mentor him, or any other cat. He began to think. There was a shortage on warriors, and too many apprentices. He had a problem.</sup>[/color][/sup]

// Oh God. Barrenpaw will be unbearabkle. xD

Tawnypaw smiled at Treepaw, her face lighting up. The sleek brown and white apprentice turned to look at Barrenpaw, her eyes narrowing slightly. She opened her mouth slightly, showing her pink tongue. "What are you looking so happy about?" she asked, head tilting to one side. Barrenpaw looked smug, but that was not exactly unusaul for the dusty coated tom. Tawnypaw sat down more comfortably, her tail curling around her paws.

_{Small white paws made little noise on the ground as the brown and white apprentice made her way over to the other cats. Dewpaw sat down next to her sister, looking at Treepaw and Barrenpaw as she did to Tawnypaw. Hey everyone, hows its going?" she asked, her voice like a gentle breeze whispering through the leaves as she spoke, grey eyes blinking at the other apprentices around her. She looked closely at Barrenpaw, he looked happy. She didnt repeat her sisters quuestion though, she merely sat and watched him inqusitively.}[/color]

"Hey," Barrenpaw mewed, still a bit angry although his happiness covered that up. Looking up at Dewpaw - she was rather pretty, actually - and at her sister, Tawneypaw, he meowed proudly "Stormstar's gonna make me his apprentice!". Sitting up tall and flicking some dust from his flank with his tail, he held his chin high. He was going to receive the best mentoring possible! He was going to be Barrenstar, leade of CloudClan one day!</sup>

<sub>Dewpaw looked at Tawnypaw and rolled her eyes at Barrenpaws words. "Oh really? How do you? He might have just said it as a possibility, but its good that he considered you for his apprentice" Dewpaw said quietly, smiling. She licked a creamy white paw and drew it over her ears.

A blue-grey she-cat padded into camp, her tail flicking as she walked in. Skyflights maw was full off prey, she carried a chaffinch, a sparrow and 2 mice by their tails. She deposited the prey on the kill pile apart from the sparrow, which she decided she would eat. She settled down in the sun to eat her meal. 'I wonder where Stormstar is' she thought to herself, looking around for her mate.</sub>[/color]

Tawnypaw lifted her nose scornfully at Barrenpaw's reply. She narrowed her eyes and gave a laugh. "Yeah right," she mewed, flicking her tail. She turned to exchange grins with her sister. Barrenpaw was so arrogant. "He was probably just saying it to fool you." It's not hard. Tawnypaw licked one shoulder, flattening the already sleek fur there. She had been perfectly happy with Skyflight being her mentor, though she was a mere warrior. Tawnypaw fixed her eyes back on Barrenpaw, curiosity still showing in they're depths, the colour of new leaves.
