Skyflight jogged into the camp. A tear slid silently down her cheek. Eaglefeather didnt love her......she wasnt sure if she could bear it. She needed to sleep and soon. But she knew she would never be able to with her mind racing like this. She dropped her prey on the pile and looked at the poppies. An idea came into her head....

Eaglefeather noticed the tear and almost died inside. 'Oh Skyflight...' he whispered. 'I'm sorry...' he didn't knwo why he was sorry, because he didn't love her? Because he loved Midnight? |

Halopaw stalked past the warriors deb, rolling a ball of soiled moss from the elders' den along with her front paws. She glanced in, and seeing Eaglefeather, glared at him. She saw Skyflight's sorrow and heard Eaglefeather apolegize and thrust her head between the branches, hissing; "Broken another she-cat's heart now have you?" The little tabby returned to her moss, legs taut. |

Skyflight picked up the poppy. She took a few steps then put it down. She sighed. What a stupid idea she thought and with that turned to take it to Dragonflydances den.

Skyflight wasnt sure if Dragonflydance would be in her den so she just left the poppies outside. She padded back to the warriors den and lay down in her warm nest. After a few moments of silence she quietly said to Eaglefeather " Its ok you know." not knowing if it was true or not.

'Mmnff. You're sweet, Skyflight. I- Things could probably have been different if I didn't love Midnight.' Eaglefeather almost kicked himself. He hadn't wanted anyone to know about Midnight and him, and he had gone and blabbed. Skyflight was for sure to report him to Cormoranstar. |

'Fox dung. I shouldn't have said anything.' he looked sheepishly at her. 'I suppose I'll have to tell you. Midnight is a loner that I've been sneaking out to see. Please don't tell anyone, but I wouldn't be surprised if you did.' Eaglefeather thought his last sentence was more like a death sentence to himself. His heart would break if he couldn't see Midnight. |

Skyflight blinked slowly, taking in all the information. A bubble of anger hissed inside her but she pushed it down. What do you take me for? You can trust me." she said and then mournfully put her head on her paws.

Skyflight nodded and smiled. She crept forward to the rabbit. She was happy. Now she had a new best friend.

Eaglefeather took a mouthful of the rabbit, and savoured the taste on his tongue. He let it slip down his throat and took another bite of the meat. 'I'm tired. Today has worn me out!' he mewed, glad Skyflight was on his side. 'I think I might ask Dragonflydance for something to put on my front pad though, I think I cut it in the river.' he licked his paw carefully. |
