The small ginger form of Halopaw crashed into the camp small, fur slick wet from her swim. She barreled into the apprentices, stopping breifly to shake the moisture from her fur. She curled up, muzzle buried against her flank, and sobbed into her fur. Her hate for Eaglefeather and the feeling of betrayel washed through her like a torrent of greif nd sorrow. The kitten sobbed until she had no tears left to sob, at which point her frnic cries died down to quiet weeping. Every time she seemed close to stopping, she found some new thread of sadness to grasp and began to cry again. She felt utterly defeated and betrayed. How could he do it? How? She didn't even want comfort now, she just wanted to be left lone to curl up and die. |

Cloakedpaw trotted up to her and patted her on the back. "Sis? Are you okay?" he asked.

A silver tom had just returned to camp from hunting. In his mouth, he carried a large rabbit and a mouse. He set the prey on the pile and calmly walked over to his siblings. He realized that Halopaw look a bit upset so he looked at his brother and mewed,"I think we should leave her alone." Shoalpaw had been closest to Halopaw in the nursery and they were best friends. He hated to see her like that but he knew that look. He had seen it in his father before. She just wanted to be alone. |

Shoalpaw hissed angerly and stalked away. He had no friends that would respect him these days, being smart unlike Cloakedpaw who only wanted to get in cats ways. His head hung low as he sat in the clearing and watched his brother act stupid. |

When Halopaw wouldn't respond, Cloakedpaw turned and walked away. He walked to his brother and meowed, "I'm sorry..."

Shoalpaw looked up and shrugged. "I don't care,"he meowed and turned away to look around the clearing. He had just come back from training with Skytomb and wanted to do something but he wasn't sure what to do.

Halopaw looked up at her brother with faint nger in her eyes. She opened her mouth to speak, but then Shoalpaw spoke. She glanced at him, then turned away from both of her brothers, uttering a faint moan. After a moment in their prescence she felt first first Shoalpaw, then Cloakedpaw too, leave. |

Eaglefeather skirted into camp and slunk over to where Halopaw was. His tail was drooping and his pelt was slick with rain that had started to fall when he was coming back to camp. His eyes still glistened with happiness though. 'Halopaw?' he miaowed quietly. 'Halopaw I'm really sorry you had to find out that way but you have to understand that I love Midnight!' he searched her face for anger or hurt and saw both. |

'Halopaw you've got to understand that when you love somebody, I mean really, truly love somebody, it doesn't matter if they're a loner, from another Clan, or even a kittypet. That's how I feel about Midnight. I just came here to say I'm sorry if I hurt you.' Eaglefeather looked at her gazing at the kitten, his eyes full of love, but not for her. For Midnight.

Eaglefeather felt the searing pain on his cheek before he knew what Halopaw had done. 'Halopaw why are you so upset about this? You act like...I don't know, like you love me!' Eaglefeather said it and sat down on the rain soaked ground. |

Halopaw looked hurt, then mewed in a distant voice. "It's always the cloest to your heart that hurt you the most." The kitten said no more, as if this explained everything. |

Shoalpaw suddenly turned to the two speaking cats. "What the...? Why?" His eyes narrowed as he listen to their conversation. They talked in low voices but Shoalpaw heard them easily since he really wasn't that far away. Eaglefeather like a loner and Halopaw liked Eaglefeather... No one liked him. Yep it all fit perfectly. Looking away he shut his eyes and sat in the pouring rain. He didn't care if his handsome gray tabby pelt got wet from rain, he just wanted to curl up and sleep with no Cloakedpaw and Halopaw and Eaglefeather. With no friends, with no hope, with no love anywhere near him, he trudged out of camp, hoping that no one would follow him. |

Bic; Halopaw hissed at him. "Get out of my life," she whipped around and dashed out of camp, not taking the same route as her brother. She knew Shoalpaw had been eavesdropping on her and Eaglefeather, as she could smell him. he spat in anger. |

Eaglefeather sat in therain looking at the descending figure of Halopaw. He felt torn. He really needed to think about his prioroties, but that meant Midnight, of course, would come among his top priorities. Eaglefeather trotted into the warriors den and curled up with his nose on his tail. |
