"I thought I might cheer you up a little." Said the huge blonde tom as he padded through the fields towards the Silver rock. The view from the top was beautiful. It was the same place he came to when he had a lot on his mind or something of the sort.
Of course, Arrowfang always had a lot on his mind.
But this poor cat, his troubles lied within himself and the twolegs and their awful machines of metal and destruction. Awful things they were, those twolegs.

"How so?" Highfrost said quietly. The broken medium-sized tom sat on the rock, scratching absently at the stone. His tail was limp and unwaving as his wide amber eyes glanced blearily at the gray rock.
"I failed him. I should have been there..." No tears fell from him, for his eyes had run dry. His brown and black pelt was bristly and wet.

"Now now," Interjected Arrowfang, smiling a little down at the emotionally wounded tom at his side. "What good is sulking going to do?" He asked rhetorically, "It will only age you, it cannot undo accidents."
"It was an accident, Highfrost, this was nobody's fault. If it was not for the twolegs and their wretched machines this wouldn't have happened. All you can do is look back on it and learn anything you can." He placed a paw on the other's shoulder, "Sulking isn't any fun anyway, is it?"

"He shouldn't have been running there! I could've prevented that," Highfrost growled, not looking at Arrowfang. He felt ashamed at himself, that he couldn't have stopped Jaguarpaw from dying. He slammed his paw onto the rock angrily.
"Why do cats have to die!? Our whole Clan is falling apart and why hasn't StarClan sent us a sign that we'll be okay? This Tribe will cut us into pieces!"

"Only with words like that will this clan fall." He said proudly, countering calmly, "Even if Firestar were to leave us, I would still remain, and call myself a member of this clan with pride unknown." He said, "We will have a sign, and we will be okay. I'll not believe otherwise."
"Either way, all you're doing by sulking and being angry at yourself is hurting yourself deeply. Keep it up and you'll be a member of Starclan soon enough. Cat's die for the balance of life, as new cats are born just as fast. Jaguarpaw was young, and he will be missed greatly by us all...but we can change nothing, and crying and thinking that our tears will bring him to life once more will do nothing." He spoke in a friendly voice, hoping to knock some sense into this tom. He was going to kill himself with agony if he didn't stop soon.

Highfrost scowled, but realized Arrowfang was right. He was being an idiot about this. He exhaled heavily. "Sickness and wounds have taken their toll on our moral. Grieverstone tells me that some stupid Tribe is stealing our dead cats away, not all but some. Then she started ranting at Firestar about not being strong and Crestedfire exploded at her, but look at what I'm doing. I'm in the worst shape. I need to get it together..."
The tom sighed and looked up. "Thank you. I've been ridiculous about this from the get-go... Do you mind if we go hunting to get this off our minds?"

Arrowfang smiled at his triumph, and began to stretch. "I haven't been hunting in a while, I s'pose we could." He stated, "There's always a few small things out here, and the occasional medium animal." He said knowingly, he was beginning to get a little hungry, and a cat his size being hungry was no joke.
His strong legs dexterously jumped from the rock to the grass below, and began to search with keen eyes. "Lot's of things have happened, but we wouldn't be a family if we didn't fight every once in a while. We'll work out our differences and live happily again, just watch."

Highfrost nodded bleakly and followed. He inhaled deeply and searching around. "A vole," he said, a smile finally creasing his face. The medium-sized tom exploded into action. The blur of brown and black voraciously lunged after the prey. He finally caught it in a snap of small lethal fangs and halted his sprint.
"Your turn, Arrowfang!" he said, waving his long tail as he buried his prey to retrieve it later. He couldn't believe how his mood was improving already.

His eyes quickly spotted a mouse running through the grass. It was an adult, and it was fairly good size. He sprinted into action after a moment of patience for it to get closer. It tried and tried to scurry away fast enough, but a giant paw landed on it's back and the giant tom applied more pressure, snapping it's spine and then reaching down with a dipped head and bit into it's neck.
Arrowfang carried it back in his incredibly sharp teeth. Depositing it back by the rock without burying it yet, he shouted back with a smile, "Your turn."

Highfrost wriggled his nose and crouched, running headlong towards a rock. His lithe body lunged to the top of the rock and then leapt into the air at a passing starling. Stunned, it hit a rock and flopped to the ground like a half-dead fish. Highfrost landed with a graceful thump and placed his paw on the bird's head to crack it. He panted for a moment to catch his breath and then turned to the larger tom.
"Hehe, your move, ace," he said.

"Heh, you're lucky I can't jump that high with all this bulk." He chuckled, quickly padding towards the field, where he found a rabbit. Rabbits were just a little faster. But he could keep up. This time though, he didn't rely on speed, but stealth.
Padding lightly and patiently, he moved slowly towards the waiting prey, and then burst into a sprint and tackle before the poor white, adorable creature could do anything. He repeated the process of incapacitating and killing it and then took it back and deposited it with the other. "Go on, what else ya got?"

Highfrost smiled, keeping his gaze straight forward as he plunged his paw downward, raising a struggling baby rabbit who had thought staying motionless would help it survive. His eyes twinkled as claws sank into brown fur. The rabbit squealed loudly, kicking and thrashing before becoming still when the tom tightened his grip.
"So, Arrowfang, do you have your sights set on any ladies of MoonClan?" the tom asked slyly.

"Absolutely, but I'm waiting for an opportune moment. Who exactly, is for me to know..and for you to find out." He smiled, smirking almost as he looked down at the other. Arrowfang's eyes shifted a moment as he noticed movement, and he sprinted towards it. It was only a second before a smaller mouse was launched from the tall grass and landed right by the other prey he had gathered.
"How 'bout you?"

Highfrost laughed out loud, but it quickly turned nervous. "Well...can you keep a secret?" the tom asked, looking up as he pushed his prey towards his pile near the buried tom. He hadn't told anyone of his forbidden relationship with Grieverstone, MoonClan's medicine cat, and he wouldn't tell just anyone. If they found out, he could get exiled.

"Of course, I will not interfere with love, even if it's against tradition. Which is why I assume it's secret..." He cocked an eyebrow at the other cat, wondering who it was. Was it Grieverstone?
That could easily be it, but he wasn't going to go guessing.

"Um yeah, that's why," Highfrost said sheepishly, scratching the back of his head. "I'm Grieverstone's mate, against StarClan's orders. I think that's why my apprentice was killed, to be honest." The black and brown tom yawned widely. "We're not planning to have kits, obviously. Our workload is too great for that, but we still love each other, through ups and downs. She's the reason I love herbs and spices so much." He laughed.

Arrowfang smiled a little and nodded along with the other tom. He was rather interesting at times. "I see," He paused a moment, "I will tell no soul, you have my word." He promised, dipping his head to Highfrost before yawning and covering his mouth with a paw.
"I'm a little tired, and you seem to be feeling better, so let's head back, shall we?"

"You are a true friend, Arrowfang," Highfrost said cordially, dipping his head to retrieve his full mouth of fresh-kill. He nodded towards the camp and smiled with twinkling eyes.
Thank you, StarClan, for sending me a friend again...

He nodded and smiled back, Arrowfang's teeth showing a little. He picked up his own catch, and began to pad off back towards camp. He had a friend in this clan, at last.
Now if he could only find a mate...

Mudfur was out hunting with Sorrowpaw when she almost bumped into Arrowfang and Highfrost.
"Hello Highfrost, Arrowfang. I see hunting was good for you too." Mudfur meowed cheerfuly.

Hearing his sisters cheerful greeting Sorrowpaw felt embarrassed for not greeting the warriors also. He nodded to Highfrost then to Arrowfang.
