Shakenleaf bolted onto the rocks, out of breath, but grinning fiercely. He was loved. He loved. The world never looked so beautiful before. A sparrow twittered near him, and he leapt into the air. Carelessly, though, he had leapt too soon, and caught only its tail feathers. Laughing heartily, he fell to the ground, whrithing in the dust in a struggle to get up.

He finally rose from the dirt, sneezed, and shook off. "I am okay, really, uh-" He was cut off embarassedly, as he heard a rabbit somewhere behind him. He flicked his ears backward and pertended not to notice. The rabbit hopped again, and this time, Shakenleaf killed it. He brought it to Firestar, grinning, and said, "Here, this one's pretty big, lets share it."
The sun was readying to set, and if they ate while watching, they'd be just in time.

Firestar ran out and followed him. She touched noses with him and leaned down to eat. "It's so beautiful..." she whispered.

Shakentail smiled again. "Yes, it is." He watched her as she ate, once and a while taking a few bites of rabbit. The sun began to move visibly, sinking. The navy sky behind it streaked with purple changed colors to a brilliant orange-pink, and then, stayed a haze. The sun was gone. The stars peeped over the horizon. "Not as beautiful when I compare it to you, though."

Not much of a girlfriend, I never seem to get a lot.

I know that its getting old, but mamma I fell in love again, as if to say I have a new girlfriend.

She even makes me pancakes, and gives me medicine for my tummy-aches

Firestar locked eyes with Shakenleaf. "I love you," she purred.

Shakenleaf purred back, brushing fur with Firestar and giving her a fond lick on the ear. "I love you, too." Could she really be the one for him? He smiled and leaned into her, watching the sun set. The sky was such an orange.. it seemed so similar to him. Puzzled, he looked back at the she-cat. It was the same color as her fur. He nuzzled her gently.

And I know you heard the last song about the girls that didn't last long, But I promise this is on a whole new plane.I can tell by the way she says my name.

Firestar looked at him. Her ice blue eyes, finally filled with joy. For the first time in a long time, her heart felt warm. She kept her gaze on him and began to purr.

Shakenleaf felt sleepily warm and entirely at peace. He had a love that loved him back. They had a Clan that was loyal and strong. This was a sunset that was one to remember. The sky was dark. The strong, twinkling lights of StarClan blinked above them. As he looked up, he thought, This cannot be wrong. StarClan is not angry. How can they be angry that we love?

He turned to Firestar who was still purring, her eyes fixed on him. He purred deeply, licked her shoulder, and said with his head in her fur, "Whe'd Bettfr Gfro Bfffk, Ffffstah" Translating without fur in his mouth- "We'd better go back, Firestar." His love. His lilywhite sweet. Oh how he loved her, with every inch of him he did. He'd kill for her. He lifted his head.

"All right," She stood and stretched. "Let's go, my love," she purred.
