The beginning.... [.:Shardkit:.]

A skinny, black she-cat watched from a hollow tree as a MoonClan warrior guarded her exit. Mouse-dung!, she thought to herself. Now look what you've done, Midnight!

Midnight watched them carefully with helpless blue eyes. It would be impossible to escape them! she thought. She knew her skinny frame gave her no real advantage, and these were some muscular warriors. They could shred her!

And with that thought, Midnight began to panic.

[SHADE. :D]

A tall white she-cat with long, flowing white fur sat outside the hostage, dozing off. Her sapphire blue eyes were half-closed when she scented great fear-scent coming from the prnsoner, and stiffened. She turned to look at Midnight. Spectreflame's eyes softened; she had never been one to like violence. She smiled weakly at the loner. "I'm orry your being kept hostage," she mewed, with true regret in her voice.

[FIREH!!]

A slender, ginger coloured cat raced into the clearing. "A loner!! We haven't had a loner since..." She froze. Memories flooded back to her. There she was, a mere warrior, doing a border patrol, when she saw a loner. Hexx! She confronted her and Hexx egged her on. Blood was all over. Firewind lay motiionless as Hexx left her to die. Only her friends saved her life.

Midnight sighed and laid down her head. It's your duty in the Clans," she murmured. She pushed her muzzle into the soft soil. "It always seemed like it would be nice to live among other who cared for you," she added, lowering her sapphire eyes.

Midnight lifted them again moments later. "Actually, I shelter in this hollow. And usually I'm never caught." She twitched her whiskers slightly and sighed again with regret.

[SHADE. :D]

Spectreflame suddenly spotted Firestar. The young warrior hastily dipped her head respectfully to her leader. "Yes, Firestar, we caught her on the sunhigh patrol," She poked Midnight with the fluffy tip of her long, white tail. Her icy blue eyes glinted as she hissed at the loner from the side of her mouth: "Don't be dumb. Firestar hates dumb cats. Act respectful, and she might let you do," the white warrior sat up straight.

[FIREH!!]

Firestar shook her head and mumbled inaudibly. Her eyes glazed over with fear and she began to shake.

[SHADE. :D]

Spectreflame eyed Firestar, scorn breaking into her icy blue eyes. She had been a mere kit when Hexx had so badly injured Firestar, and had not known of it. The white warrior flashed her leader a pleading glance. Did she wish to bring shame on MoonClan by quaking before a loner? "Firestar, are you really going to tilerate this loner on our territory?" She swiped her tail across Midnight's mouth, to keep her from speaking.

Midnight dipped her head shakily to the leader. Her eyes stayed wide and her legs nearly buckled in fear.

[SHADE. :D]

Spectreflame whacked the loner sharply with her tail. She was overdoing it.

Now Midnight was completely confused. She just settled down and said nothing, but didn't hiss or spat or cast any rude glances. She acted as respectful as it was possible fo her to understand as a loner.

[FIREH!!]

"No, Hexx... NOOO!" she screeched. Her mind was stuck on that terrifying moment. Suddenly, she fell over. Shaking her head, she stood up. "Spectreflame?" she mewed. "Is that you?" Suddenly, she noticed Midnight. "Who're you? Are you wanting to join our clan?"

Midnight shook her head lightly. "At first but...." Midnight's mind wandered, and she knew to not explain her situation.

[FIREH!!]

"Come, come," she meowed. "Moonclan needs more warriors."

[[xoxo] shard. :)]

Midnight's heart clenched. What would happen now?

ooc;: It's just the circumstances. Look at the last post I made on the board with her and Eaglefeather.

bic:// "Well?" asked Firestar.

Midnight pondered for a few moments. She shook her head timidly and began to back away.

[FIREH!!]

"Why not?" she asked.

[[xoxo] shard. :)]

Midnight didn't know how to reply; she couldn't give Eaglefeather away. She was silent awhile, trying to think of what to say.

[FIREH!!]

"Midnight?" she asked.

[[xoxo] shard. :)]

She blinked back to her senses and ducked her head. "I...err...." She trailed off, unknowing what to say.

[FIREH!!]

"What is it?" she asked.

[[xoxo] shard. :)]

"It's a personal reason that I don't think I can share..." she said shakily.

[FIREH!!]

"Well... If you no longer want to be apart of Moonclan... Then off with you!" she meowed.

[[xoxo] shard. :)]

Midnight nodded curtly and bounded away from MoonClan territory, into that of CloudClan.

[FIREH!!]

As soon as Midnight left, Firestar collapsed onto the soft, peaty earth. "Spectreflame, what am I to do?" she whispered.

Ooc; Thanks for leaving me so far behind. x-x
Bic; Spectreflame felt a ripple of disgust as her leader collapsed. Did she have no shame? When she spoke to Midnight, he listened, and thought she heard almost desperation in Firestar's voice. Why was the ginger she-cat so eager to recruit loners as warriors? What next? Kittypets? She scuffed unsheathed silver claws on the dirt, troubled. When asked a question by Firestar after Midnight had left, she mewed: "I know she's hiding something. See how she ran into CloudClan territory," the white cat pointed with her tail in the direction he loner had disappeared.

[FIREH!!]

"I know!" Firestar stood up. "You can follow the loner!" she meowed. "Don't let Cloudclan know you're there."
