A chilly wind blew through the pines reaching up to the great shimmering expanse of Silver Rocks, blowing branches crazly and ripping he last of autumn's leaves from their stems. The nights darkness was just beginning to set in; the sky was a dusky purple hue. The grey clouds were just beginning to disappear, and the silver circle of the moon showed through the wisps left. A single star shone proudly in the violet gloom.
A small white beast trudged through the fallen leaves on the earth below. Each small step was a huge leap for the creature, and it sank up to its knees in crisp leaves with every footfall. The beast was a kitten, her coat white as snow and her eyes bright red. The albino broke free of the leaves and leapt onto the Silver Rocks, claws scraping over the surface as she gained height with every desperate scrabble. Finally the white kitten rested herself at the peak of the highest rock, demonic gaze sweeping the territories below.
Winterkit looked down upon her previous home. The scemt that masked her beautiful body was a pungent mixture of stale MoonClan scent, stale EclipseClan scent, stale CloudClan scent and rats. She had found a dead rat and had eaten it. But that had been a few nights ago. Her thin body ached with hunger, and she slid from the rocks and opened her mouth to let he warm forest scents rush upon the scent glands on the roof.
Her ears pricked and she tiptoed towards a bush. A rabbit had foolishly chosen to rest there. It was plump and well fed. Winterkit crept up to it, paws silent on the grass. She leaned over the rabbit, not knowing where to strike a blow. She decided on the back of its neck, as she remembered an EclipseClan warrior scratching her here. She had felt weak for moons afterward. Perhaps a strong enough bite could kill a beast?
She sank her small white fangs into her chosen spot. The rabbit opened its eyes and struggled feebly, but the kits teeth had made there mark. She held on, enjoying the sensation of warm blood rushing between her teeth. When she had noticed the beating of the pulse fade and halt, she released it and began to feast.
An hour or so later, the rabbit was nothing but bones, which Winterkit scraped clean eagerly. She moved the bones aside, then curled up where the rabbit had lain, confident that iys scent would mas her's.
